You get what you pay for

I chose the hotel because I only wanted a room for one evening, en route to somewhere else...the hotel was difficult to get to, difficult to find (it's somewhat hidden from the road and easy to miss) expensive to park at, the garage is rather narrow and frightening (don't even TRY it with a mid-size vehicle!) and the rooms were fine, but about what I expected for the price and nothing more.

Get what you pay for

Only ammenities that are even worth mentioning is the 10% off at the iHop. Free shuttle service to and from the airport, ended up being a $40 cab ride each way. Paid $20 a night extra to have a smoking room. Never even smoked in the room, smoked outside and threw the butts in the trashcan in my room. Ended up being charged an extra $500 because the maid found cigarette butts in the trash can and that was evidence that I was smoking in the room. Wifi was only available in the lobby? Stupid. I just tapped into the Ramada's wifi across the street. Room looks like it hadn't been remodeled since 1984.

I enjoyed my stay. I had a nice view.

The staff was friendly and helpful, on helping me get to different locations and attractions. The bathtub was not cleaned during my 5 night stay. The counter in the kitchen needed cleaning.

great staff

the hotel is kind of easy to miss. when they said it was a block from the beach, i didn't know you had to cut through the hilton hawaiian village property to get there. it's not TOO far, but i just thought it'd be a lot closer. i went diving with aquazone for 3 days. they picked me up from the hotel each day and dropped me off as well. the staff was very nice, and checked in for me for my return flight and weighed my bags for me to make sure i was under the 50lb limit! if you're into shopping, then the hotel is in a centralized location for the ala moana center and all the high end shops on Kalakaua Ave, being about a 15 min walk from either. the hotel is not in the middle of touristy waikiki, thankfully. i heard hawaiian hotel rooms are not typically that large, which was true for my room. i had a diamond view room, which gave nice views of the mountains, the city, and a bit of the beach... all with a big column right in the middle of the glass doors. the doors opened up but the outdoor space was only about 12" deep - not meant as a balcony unfortunately.

about 15-20 min walk to the ala moana shopping center which i'm told used to be the largest mall in the country! also, about a 10-min walk to all the high end shops on Kalakaua Ave. depending on where you're from, sales tax on clothes is pretty good in hawaii at 4-point something percent.

Great location, clean and quiet

I stayed at the Aqua Palms as part of a Concert Package...airfare and hotel. Had never heard of the Aqua Palms. Was happy with the location to the Blaisdell Areana, about 10 mins. away. Would definitely stay there again. Very friendly staff. Very clean and quiet.

take the good with the bad

It was very small but fine with me as a single traveler not spending much time in the room. The only really awful thing was the cockroaches in the bathroom. I know it was Hawaii but they need to take care of the problem. Everything else was good for the price. The people were nice & there was a laundry room in the hotel. It's a shame but I can't recommend it because of the cockroaches in the bathroom.

The bus runs pretty often and as a senior with a medicare card, I rode for $1. That included a trip up the windward side to North Beach taking a few hours. This even includes a transfer and will take you many places of interest. Go on line and check it out. It's called "The bus".

good if your on a budget.

first night(I was tired) I got there they gave me a room with no balcony, called to change that.I had to check out 12 pm and wait three hours to check back in.I want to get a view of the ocean from my room, it's only 8 stories tall, so the other hotels dwarf this one. yes the elevator is slow, just to add the ihop and coffee shop next door, were not any good. try cheeseburger whikiki about a block away.

Just OK

I stayed here for ten nites and the hotel was average. The staff was great , very helpful and friendly, but the place could use a few upgrades. The bathrooms weren't always cleaned very well and the bed did not provide the best sleep (it was way to soft). However, the location was great becuase it wasn't to close to the heart of Waikiki beach which could get could of loud at nite. The hotel is across from the Hilton Hawaiian Vilage so I took advantage of their services and there end of the beach.

Tattered but generally clean

The staff have all been very friendly. The room I got for an average of $120/night was tiny. I found out some water front hotels were charging the same, so I felt the value wasn't that great. The room had a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator as well as iron and ironing board. There was a small desk and table and huge flat screen TV. it appears it was upgraded at some point with marble floors in the bath and hall. However, the furniture was worn and almost looked trash picked. There was a tear in my bed sheet but the sheets seemed clean. There are nicks and scrapes in the walls. The carpet looks old and has a huge 2 ft diameter stain by the bed. The hall carpets have definitely seen better days. The lobby area is functional. I chose this hotel due to location and fact they have free WIFI. However, WIFI is only available in the lobby and is VERY slow. Luckily there was a computer connector in the room, but even that was somewhat slow.

A nearby Japanese restaurant called Chiba-ken is very good and authentic. The beach seems blocked by the Hitlon properties, but it isn't and you can go there. It is a public beach. The Aqua Palms will provide beach towels, too.

Great value

The Aqua Palms is a great choice if you don't have to have all of the luxuries such as on site bar/restaurant,entertainment,in-room wifi, breakfast, etc.I personally, just walked across the street and took advantage of all the Hilton had to offer-shopping,restaurants,and the beach. The elevator was extremely slow but that was ok-i was on Hawaiian time-no worries. My room was clean, staff very friendly and helpful, and i could walk along the beach to many great bars and restaurants.
