My review of Aqua Palms & Spa

The Aqua Palms is located right on Ala Moana Blvd. a short ride on THE BUS to one of Honolulu's major shopping areas. The garage is key access only if you have your own car and is reasonable compared to many of the parking fees at $18 per day. You can walk from your car to the elevator and take it straight up to your floor. Aqua Palms has gone thru recent redecorating and the feel is modern fresh. The unit we were in was a bit tight with a queen bed and a pull out sleeper sofa. A small chest of drawers in the entry way was a poor fit and did not match the rest of the decor but without it you would need to leave your clothes in the suitcase. ( Fortunately we were only staying one night so this was not an issue) The chest was a good height to set a suitcase on but we had to turn our other suitcases sideways because there was not enough width to roll them through. There was a medium sized microwave and a single set of dishes along with a larger college dorm sized fridge. It even had a freezer big enough to put our ice packs in. (gotta have a way to keep those chocolate covered macadamia nuts from melting on your way home)

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

The # 8 bus will take you from your hotel to shopping at the Ala Moana mall on the Honolulu side. Get your transfer and if you can get back early enough you can ride back to your hotel on one fare. Remember the bus to go back is closer to where the street goes under the building. Look for the sign that says buses to Waikiki.

Very nice hotel

The Aqua Palms and Spa was comfortable. It is within walking distance to the beach. I would recommend it to families and couples not interested in 5-star amenities. It is in a touristy area so there are alot of local restaurants to choose from.

Great location and staff

The hotel is in an excellent location just across the street from the Hilton Hawaiian Village complex and a block from the beach. Parking is a little tight and expensive but it sems to be that way everywhere in Hawaii. Staff was super and friendly and always helpful. Beware of the person who sits behind the desk labeled concierge. He really is a travel and tours agent and not at all helpful when it comes to questions and concerns. Other than these few things the stay was great!

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Downtown, the International Marketplace, restuarants on the beach (Shorebird in particular), lots of ABC stores (Hawaiian equivalent of 7-11 or WaWa) and even a Denny's were very close by. For those who like to walk, the biggest mall in the area is in walking distance too.

Very far from Shopping

The Aqua Palms & Spa was all right but if you are looking for a fancy hotel don't stay there. The swimming pool is unbelievable small, the breakfast just juice/coffee/apple/banana and muffins, no bread/milk/cheese/ham/butter...... too early as well from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. The staff is ok but no efforts at all to help you out. The hotel was a walking distance from shopping area.

Very Convienient

I had to stay here for my boyfriend to get surgery at one of the hospitals-the parking was quick in and out-the rooms clean and comfy-smaller-but the others looked bigger and really close to the Ala Moana for shopping-good deal!

My review of Aqua Palms & Spa

Staff was very friendly when I was ther. However, I got sick on my last day there with food poisoning and needed help getting another room so I could delay my departure. When I called the front dest, they were of litle help finding me a room. Even the Aqua Hotels people were unhelpful in providing numbers or other assistance in finding a room for me. I find it hard to believe that in the hospitality industry people would be so unhelpful to guests when they are sick and have nowhere to go.

Spacious Room

Overall a decent experience. Nice room with a sofabed, microwave, and fridge. The location was a bit far from main beaches even for avid walkers, but acceptable bus connections and proximity to ala moana centre may make up for that. Room service was efficient, though they seemed to be a bit stingy on supplies and I had to ask at front desk to get more shampoo etc. The included breakfast, conmsisting of pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, was certainly a bonus. We certainly would book here again.

Could be better

The Aqua Palms was a mediocre hotel. The room was very small and lacked comfortable seating and room. Because there was a queen bed and pull out couch there was no other comfortable seating unless the pull out couch was put away and then only enough good seating for one. The TV was small and hung from the ceiling so that watching TV was not comfortable. The Computer internet hookup was helpful. The information book had incorrect listings in terms of where ice and drink machines were located and they were located on only one floor and on different floors. The complimentary breakfast was poor. There was no listing of neighboring restaurants which would have been helpful.

A nearby (in the same block) family restaurant had good prices but the food was only so so. There were only two restaurants that served American food were close enough to walk. Other restaurants that were not within walking distance did not provide adequate parking.

Good deal hotel

I was staying there with my girl's friend, I would recommend there if you are not spending time at a hotel all day. The outside of the hotel was not too good but inside was really clean and comfortable. It wasn't too big room but enough to comfortable stay after coming back sightseeing or shopping. The breakfast was only some fruits and muffins, some juices, coffee. It wasn't big breakfast but I was mostly going out to eat branch so it didn't matter. So if you are an kind of active traveler, I think it's good deal to stay.
