Great value out of the fray

This is a remodeled older hotel. It's not super-slick, but functional and comfortable. The staff was very helpful, and lending out beach paraphernalia for nearby Sans Souci beach was a nice touch. So was morning coffee and free newspapers.

Town Restaurant in the Kaimuki neighborhood on the other side of Diamond Head is great. Unpretentious in feel, but ambitious locally sourced cuisine makes it a local favorite.

The Lotus at Diamond Head

This is not a four star hotel!!! It has no restaurant and lacks other amenities common to such rated hotels. Our room, while large, was not clean. It is obvious the bedspead is not changed between guests (yuck!). The carpeting was also dirty. There was no coffemaker in our room as well. I'd like a little caffiene before I have to face anyone. The TV was old and got not great reception. On the plus side, the hotel was a nice distance away from the hubbub of Waikiki. The staff, when we needed them, was courteous and friendly.

The Blue Water Shrimp and Seafood cafe at the International Marketplace (food court) was a bright spot in our dining experience. Large quantities at great prices is the hallmark of this place. Perfectly cooked fish and almost more crab legs than I can eat brought us back to this place twice.

hidden but worth finding hotel

Lotus at Diamond Head Hotel was hard to find. We finally found it after getting directions from a local person. The check-in was a breeze and so was valet parking. Room was clean, awesome pressure in the shower with plenty of hot water. We slept like babies in the comfortable bed. Best hotel stay we have had in the many years we have been passing through Honolulu.

Not a bad deal

We stayed at the Locus at Diamond Head in Wiakiki. The room was great. Bed really comfortable, great shower, great service, But we had no view of the ocean or of diamond head. Otherwise.....great.

Entertainment tip: Long walk from hotel

The main attractions where about a mile away. Walking fun nice because you are walking along the beautiful beaches. The onlu concern comes up after dark. There is a significant stretch that is very dark. The locals and homeless hang out around that area. Just an FYI.

what a relief

The staff were very helpful, especially the concierge-valet parking attendant. He gave lots of advice on what to visit, and on where to be careful of rental car vandals. The hotel itself was comfortable and relaxing. The (upgraded) Diamondhead room was worth it.

Siam Square on Kuhio has brilliant Thai food. Much farther afield, Crouching Lion is a pretty spot up the eastern shore and quiet if you go at an off hour after the busloads of tourists have headed back. (The hotel itself has no restaurant.)

Great Hotel [...]

This hotel was very pleasant to stay at and is perfectly located for a stroll through the park or along the beach. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean, and the hotel was pleasantly quite. I had a corner room that had two balconies on perpendicular walls which provided a very pleasant breeze. The room was well decorated, though the furnishings and carpet were a little worn, which detracted somewhat from the aesthetics. The room had a partial view of diamond head and the rest was other hotels and parking structures. There is a mandatory $15 parking fee per day, so make sure to include this in your budget. Overall it was very nice to have a quite, relaxing stay at a hotel with a very peaceful location.

Great hotel, great service

Was there for the Molokai-Oahu paddleboard race. Great hotel, the staff is super friendly, location is great. I don't need a pool, so that wasn't missed at all. Just wish they had free wi-fi. The wi-fi was expensive and pretty slow.

Quiet, relaxing getaway

The Lotus at Diamond Head is a beautiful hotel with a helpful, knowledgeable staff. When we asked about a place to get good local food, they recommended the Diamond Head Market and Grill. This place had amazing food and we were thoroughly impressed! We stayed here when attending the Kokua Festival at the Waikiki Shell. It was the perfect location for those attending this event, for it was within walking distance and you were even able to listen to the concert from your Lanai. Because it is not located in the middle of busy Waikiki, this hotel was quiet and even had its own private beach where you weren't elbow to elbow with other tourists. We were completely blown away by our experience here!
