Great location
We were satisfied with the Ambassador. It is only a 5 minute walk to the beach (Ala Moana, so far quieter than Waikiki), very clean (cleaned each day, including the pool) and the staff is very nice and helpful. It's a great location as it is just outside the hustle of the strip (but still in walking distance). Fist we got a room on the 3rd floor facing the Gateway Hotel. There was EXTREMELY nosy from 5am till 11am. One garbage truck dropped off and then another one picked up dozens of garbage cans right in front of our hotel. Then on the second day we asked the staff to move us to another room, so they upgraded our room to the room with full kitchen on the 8th floor with no charge. It was much better, but still nosy in the morning. I was disappointed there was no wifi in the room. However, I would definitely recommend this hotel as long as you keep in mind it is a budget hotel.

Cheap place to stay
Rooms were clean however, everything was old and had a motel feel to it. Don't expect fluffy pillows and sheets. Its as basic as you get for sleeping. Spend a little more for a more comfortable feel. Staff was nice and room was kept up once a day. If they would update the hotel they would get better reviews. Hotel was in a good location and has a good coffee shop next door.

Re: parking - have car info i.e. make, model, color, lic. plate no. when you check-in so you can get parking access key right away instead of being sent out to retrieve information. Cost is $20/per day. Parking access card is scanned @ machine to allow access into parking lot; you'll also need same card to exit the parking area so keep it w/ you when you're leaving, and return it after checking out only after exiting the parking area.

Ambassador Hotel Review
Room (studio) is very adaquate with lanai, has two double beds and a small flat screen TV. Wall mount air conditioner. Bed could use new pillows. Bath was clean with nice hot shower, no tub. Hotel and employees are very pleasent and accomodating. Nice swimming pool, daily maid service. Parking is available @ $20. per day. Coffee shop is attached. Free internet. Nice hotel for the thrifty.

Lack of sound proof
It was hard to get some sleep at night because of wind hissing from outside. The balcony doors were not properly shut due to the age of the building.

You get what you pay for
This was the right room for the price. I was a little disappointed with the size of the room. It appeared much bigger in the pictures. The room was clean though, and who spends much time in the room while in Hawaii anyway.

My vacation
The hotel is all good except there is no microwave and no coffee maker. Otherwise I had a nice vacation and the area is very safe to walk at night or a midnight stroll. Staff is very helpfull and very polite. I will highly recomend this hotel to anyone. Everything is walking distance from shopping to food.

Couldn't wait to move out
The hotel is old with external hallways. There was only a shower with no tub and it was plugged and had to be repaired my first night. The shower head was also loose and would not stay in place. There was no coffee pot in room, but the hotel provided a coupon for discount at a neighboring store. I asked for an hour late checkout and was charged $15.00. Parking is $15.00 per day. The price for the hotel is good, but when considering the aging facility and additional costs for ususual amenties at other hotels, I would not recommend this hotel to my friends. This is definitely not a 3 star hotel. Someone got this rating wrong. I would knock it down a notch or two.
