ambassador hotel, near the ocean and Ft DeRussey
Very nice hotel, one block from the ocean and Ft. DeRussey and a bus stop right in front of hotel. Very clean room, nothing fancy but a great value, I would stay again

Cheap place to stay
Rooms were clean however, everything was old and had a motel feel to it. Don't expect fluffy pillows and sheets. Its as basic as you get for sleeping. Spend a little more for a more comfortable feel. Staff was nice and room was kept up once a day. If they would update the hotel they would get better reviews. Hotel was in a good location and has a good coffee shop next door.

not bad!
Staffs were accomodating. Parking is expensive but well worth it, otherwise, you won't be able to park anywhere. I had a full kitchen. Bathroom--roomy, where the closet is also located; excellent privacy from the main room if you have to get dressed after a shower. I'd stay there again.

good value in Waikiki
only a few blocks from the beach, why pay a lot more just to save yourself a short walk? for a decent, good value place to stay, the Ambassador is definitely okay

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Whalers general is around the corner on same block and ABC store is one block up. but those small stores are expensive. 30 min walk to the Mall and a bit further to Walmart. if you happen to be out in honolulu its best to get some snacks or any thing you need before heading back to waikiki and getting ripped off at the small 7/11 type shops.

Easy-peasy
Not a "luxe" place, but clean and right downtown. Friendly staff, great Thai place right next door (Keo. Get the steak.Don't buy the Thai beer.) ABC store downstairs, and a great coffee store. No coffee maker provided in room, and refridge never got cold. Liked it, will go back.

Eat the lime/chili steak at Keo's. Thai beer is 15 bucks a bottle, so stay away from that:)

Waikiki getaway
Went to Honolulu, HI for the first time and wanted to stay in Waikiki beach. Ambassador Hotel in Waikiki was in a perfect location and my overall experience with it was good. There are few things I did not like (paying parking, no breakfast, no restaurant in site)

tired
arrived on a delayed flight at 5am...they added an extra hour on check-out. so it was almost 6am when I got to my room and had to check out by 1pm. Cant say I was very thrilled. There are times when policy is not customer service friendly, and this was one of them! had to fly out at 10 pm that evening. So..ya thats weak.
