Nice place, good location

Although the place is older, they have kept it up very well. The kitchen was older but still nice. They only provided 2 sets of dishes, glasses, silver etc., could have used more. They brought me a coffee pot as soon as I called down. The staff was extremely exceptional and went out of their way to help you. The rooms were very clean. We asked for a certain section because we had been told that the garbage men came early in the morning so we did not want to be in that section. We were told that since we had third party booked they could not honor our request. Since we got the room and car at such a great rate, it was no big deal to us. Yes, we would go back and stay there again.

good value

The hotel was a little outdated. However it was clean, a good location and a good value. We stayed there one evening as our condo was not available until a day after we arrived in Oahu.

Basic Budget Hotel

This hotel is located near the beach and shopping. The staff was helpful and friendly. Our room was very clean. The beds were very uncomfortable. The noise from the garbage trucks early every morning was annoying but not the fault of the hotel. I feel for the money we paid the hotel was very adequate. Parking was $15.00 a day and I felt this a little high. We had four friends in the same room and were only a little cramped. Kitchen area was very helpful and saved us some money.

You get what you pay for

This hotel is very low budget. There is nothing wrong with the hotel, but then there is nothing right with it either. This is a place to lay your head for a few hours only. In wall a/c units, no view, bed not too comfortable- I recommend a national chain hotel

Great value for the money

Went for a conference, stayed 8 nights. Pros: great location, everything is nearby or easily accessible, the beach is a short walk away, great view, the room has everything you need, the staff is helpful and smiling, the rooms are very clean and smoke-free, free high-speed Internet in the room, a kitchenette with the basic stuff, an oven, a fridge, a nice balcony. Cons (insignificant, but for you to know): the equipment of the kitchenette is too basic, no condiments, the frying pan is not a non-sticky type, everything sticks to it, the countertop had a burnt edge, no hand lotion/body lotion, the towels are relatively small. It also gets pretty noisy at night, the traffic never stops, so you should consider it if you have sleep problems. Overall, Waikiki is a very expensive place, and I was very lucky in this hotel paying $ 69 per night and enjoying so many things - cleanliness, closeness to the beach and every possible shopping/dining place, swimming pool, very courteous staff, and gorgeous views.

Romantic holiday for two

Upon our arrival we were told that the king room that we requested was not available. The only option available was for two double beds. We weren't completely happy about that, but weren't offered any other options. They said that they would do their best to find a room with a king bed but it might take a couple of days. As we were there for a week we decided to make the best of it. The next morning they informed us that the room they had planned to put us in was subject to maintenance and that there were no rooms with king beds available. For the remainder of the week experience with the Ambassador was average. The staff was helpful with any questions we had. Housekeeping was what was to be expected. Checkout could be modernized and streamlined. A 30 min wait to checkout with only two people in line is not ideal. Overall, the pricing, parking and basic customer service would be the best points about the Ambassador. However, customer service during check in and check out leaves much to be desired.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

I've stayed in the Waikiki several times without a car. This time we found a great price for flight, hotel and car and it really made a difference. We found access to so many great places to eat and see. Our most surprising finds: By mistake we took a wrong turn and found the most amazing place to watch the sunset. It was a rock shelf just by the water. Also apparently a great diving site. It's called Koko Koa Mini Beach Park. Definitely not a beach and a small park area and every bit an off the beaten path secret of Oahu. Costco in Waipahu or Honolulu had the best pricing for hawaiian macadamia nuts, chocolate, cookies and coffee to take home as souvenirs. And their fresh cut fruit and seafood were better than we've ever had elsewhere on Oahu. We both agreed that their garlic shrimp was better that the shrimp trucks in haleiwa and kahuku. And the poke, cilantro shrimp, papaya and pineapple were excellent. Costco will definitely be our first stop on our next trip :).

figure out where the grocery store is before you go. Research on internet. Kitchen in room, and easy to cook a few meals on your own. Buy the bag of fresh Hawaii coffee, - you can get it cheaper than at home, ask for a coffee maker, and every day starts off wonderful ! Also cannot beat cutting up a fresh pineapple in Hawaii,( was on sale for $2.79 , at grocery store) YUM

Family Holiday Vacation

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. My husband and I stayed in a one bedroom suite with out two grown children Dec. 31, 2011 through Jan. 5, 2012. The room layout worked well with the two daybeds in the living area and a private bedroom with a full and twin bed. (I would have preferred a king size bed instead.) The price was worth the lack of luxury and the room was very clean and well-maintained. The hotel is in a good area and close to restaurants and shopping. We were able to park on-site for only $15/day. A bargain in a city of this size. The parking was safe and secure. We would stay here again! A great value!

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

When visiting Hanauma Bay for snorkeling, be there as early as possible to avoid the crowds. It opens at 6AM. We got there just after 7 and it was fine.

Brothers relaxing

If you don't mind walking a little was a very good location. Is located right in between the Waikiki strip and Ala Moana Mall. A short walk to the beach, stores and restaurants!
