Convenient & Kona Side Cozy But Nice

I was here to vote and assist with final campaign work. Hotel staff were professional but not friendly. Facilities were clean. However, the hallways were stuffy and carpets inside the room were stained and a stale smell remain. Custodian staff were pleasant but not friendly. The one oriental dining facility was satisfactory. Overall, I found the location convenient as it was located next to one of the most popular malls on Oahu. Was not overly impressed with the staff. No formal complaint, however, I do believe if they are the aloha state, you'd expect more warmth. The stores on the premises are very convenient. Upon check in, they could not find my reservation even with my confirmation #. Would I stay there again - yes I would. But management needs to be visible and engaging if they really want to know how they are doing. People will tolerate substandard performance as long as their basic needs are being met. Ala Moana Hotel meets the basic needs. I would not stay there with my family.

Tiny room at Alamoana hotel

This package trip included a room at Alamoana hotel and it was in " kona tower". The room was very small, it had a queen size bed and sofa. The rooms in main tower might be a little bigger but this one which was included in the trip was way too small.

Time-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

At check-in they had no record of my reservation so the process took longer than expected. Everything was worked out eventually and the staff was courteous, but it was annoying after a long trip. By law, smoking is very limited throughout the state and there is absolutely no smoking on the hotel property. I can understand and honor the law, but the "designated smoking area" is merely a small hole in the wall with a bucket of sand near the side entrance of the hotel which is degrading and unsafe. On a few occasions I was joined by a mouse exploring the territory. Otherwise the hotel was adequate for my needs--a place to sleep and take a shower.

Good Location Off Waikiki

I was able to walk to Waikiki and the surrounding area easily without being caught in the middle of the crowded Waikiki area. The biggest turnoff was being able to hear nearby guests closing their room doors as if the walls were made of paper. It made some nights difficult to get to sleep as I would try to get up early to catch the sunrise and some of the other guests didn't share the same plans.

Not a 4 star hotel/be warned!

As much as the hotel is situated in a great location for shopping &dining..the services provided need upgrading from a more efficient checkin process to a better aquatic area which needs a makeover. Also,be aware that the Kona Tower room walls are paper-thin!. But the one 5star experience is the new restaurant on the 36th floor which offers unrivaled views and decor! The steakhouse also offers mouthwatering meats and private dining for that special occasion.Aloha!

Great Hotel, just far from Waikiki.

Stayed in hotel for one night while hanging with friends and drinking. I wouldn't stay more than a day or two though. I stayed for one week on the North Shore.

Location is not Ideal

The hotel rooms are small but clean and very adequate. The problem was the distance of the hotel from Waikiki Beach and places to eat. So, if you stay here be prepared to walk a great deal across busy streets.
