concrete mall

When i arrived to the hotel the first thing i asked was if they had food. they do not serve food except for snacks on the plane. not only did they say we have no food but we dont know anything about late night food. I thought that was strange considering we were in a major city. so i took my hotel card and went to my room. then i saw i did not have a view of anything but a macys parking lot. this is really really wrong. when someone goes on vacation... and some years this is my only vacation then this is so so wrong. I called the front desk and said this is not a ocean view after i requested the upgrade of the ocean view. If that is an ocean view and you can honestly call that an ocean view then something is seriously wrong. My package was 2300.Us Please tell me this was a joke. i had to leave for the embarrasement of the hotel and the way they treated me. I went to a nice hotel and found a ocean view. it was much more but the point is i came on the vacation to have an ocean view and when i am lied to it makes no sense. it was a complete lie. i should sue this website for all i went through. but i will never do that. if you care at all you should figure something out to make it right. and i do not want to ever go back to that hotel.I already spent a lot of money. and if you want me to send you pictures of macy i will . it is not an ocean view. because you can see a few boats a mile away and 90 percent mall parking lot does not make it an ocean view. this is mis leading. i will wait for a response but i am not impressedJeremy DeichenExecutive Producertel 77.88.55.Film jeremy[@]

THIS WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!

If you are expecting the hotel they show in the pictures DON"T! The rooms are small cramped, smell of fish the beds are like the iron maden and the staff have a nice future in Helgas house of Horrors! It is almost far enough removed from Honalulu's sights and sounds as you can get! The Towles are tiny and if they really spent 250 million in renovations, i would have hated to see the origional!

An Alright Adventure

The room was really small. Good thing I only was there at night. The pool was closed early at 6:30 pm. So, I never really had an opportunity to hit the pool. Also, the hotel had wireless internet, but it was super expensive just to use it each day. The floor that we stayed on was, what seemed to be underconstruction, because carpet was being rolled up, the walls looked dingy. The appearance of my floor was kinda scary.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The thing that makes this hotel a good location, is because its 5 minutes to the shopping mall. And then 15 minutes from the beach.

great location, not so great service

I always stay here and love the location and the hotel. This time however i was greeted by someone not so friendly or helpful. I had to to her job for her and my reservation was messed up because of the hotel's incompetence. I resolved the issue on my time and was able to make the best of it. I have never had this problem before and hope to never have it again.

The hotel doesn't have a good dining selection as it did years ago. But being next to the mall can make up for it. Also the night time entertainment is only 2 nights a week now when it used to be every night.

Great location for shopping

The Ala Moana Hotel is located next to the huge Ala Moana shopping center so if you are in Honolulu to shop, it is a reasonable choice. The room was very small, the bed was very big, and the sleeper sofa was too small (even for me at 5'5) and no bedding was provided for it. However, the staff was very responsive and friendly.

Go to the Poi Bowl restaurant at the Makai Market in the Ala Moana shopping center for real Hawaiian food. Try the lomi salmon, kalua pig, lau lau and poi. Authentic and good!

Nice hotel with great location

Ala Moana Hotel is a great place to stay -- close to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. And you're *not* in Waikiki, if that's your preference. The great thing about the hotel is that they don't nickel and dime you for amenities like internet access, room safe, fitness center.

Perfect Location

Ala Moana Shopping center is connected to hotel by a walkway. Lots of places to eat in surrounding area. Close to Ward shopping center and theater. Close to Nimitz Highway and also easy to get to the H-1 freeway. Parking is not free anymore. Staff is friendly. Room was clean and very comfortable. There was a fridge and microwave to heat up my leftovers. I would stay here again. Cost a little high (room fee and parking fee). But again, I would stay here during my next trip.
