A local hotel in true Honolulu near shopping and the beach
Totally revamped and refreshingly unpretentious, the two-tower Ala Moana Hotel is an island institution. Ala Moana Hotel is a favorite of Hawaii's neighbor island visitors who love the feel of being just outside of Waikiki. Enjoy front-door shopping, great rates and a short walk to an enormous beach. Ala Moana is one block from the Hawaii Convention Center and attracts groups from the mainland. The hotel's 36 floors and more than 1,000 rooms hardly keep Ala Moana a secret, but a surprising find amidst the pack.

So close to Shopping Center and
So close to Shopping Center and a short bus/taxi to Waikiki Beach. Would stay again on my next trip. The hotel has everything you need to have an enjoyable stay.

Nice location even rather far

This was a good location for us
This was a good location for us as we only had 24hrs before we flew on to Maui so we wanted to maximise our time. The location was on the right side of town for Pearl Harbour, near the airport and had restaurants near by. We intended to leave our bags at the hotel all day but when we arrived we asked about early check in and they could accomodate us (9am), this really made our day much more comfortable. Rooms were standard, but the hotel gave us what we needed at a good price - convienience.

Location is excellent. Close to shopping center, the entrance to Waikiki, roads to the freeways. The staff was friendly. Room has an empty refrigerator for yor groceries and drinks, and a microwave. Also please note that they have a coin operated laundry rooms in the Kona tower. I would recommend this hotel.

Peaceful stay
Didnt get to do much. It rained the whole time I was there. The hotel was nice. It was located right next to the mall. The room was nice. Alittle on the small side but clean... I would stay there again...

Convenient meets affordable luxury
I have stayed at many hotels in Honolulu and Waikiki. None compare to the convenience, affordability, and quality of the Ala Moana Hotel. Situated practically above the Ala Moana Mall, there are numerous food and shopping options. It is also just a few blocks from my favorite spots in Waikiki (the shops & beach at the Hilton Hawaii Village) and the Ward Center (movie theater, etc). The quality and luxury of the rooms really don't get much better for the price. Friends of mine who stayed here complained that the room was small. Well, it's Honolulu - space is expensive. (Plus, I think the hotel was designed to be spacious and luxurious for its Asian customers.) What's more, I think the furniture and decorations in the rooms at the Ala Moana Hotel are as nice - if not nicer - than at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. This difference is, you'll pay twice as much for a nice room at the Hilton. In any case, if a little less floor space doesn't bother you and you'd like to pay half as much as you would at the Hilton, this is the place for you. In truth, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Wailana Coffee House is just a few blocks from the Ala Moana Hotel, right across the street from Waikiki beach and the Hilton. This restaurant has a local feel and delicious food, especially for breakfast. The best part - it's open 24 hours. So it's a great place to go for bite to eat if your flight gets in early in the morning or late at night.
