The two towers of the Ala Moana Hotel provide scenic views over the tall city buildings stretching into the distance across the Honolulu skyline, the ocean, or the nearby mountain range. Part of the Outrigger Resorts chain, the Ala Moana was awarded "Best Value Hotel" by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and, while affordable, it has all the amenities of more luxurious hotels. These include a swimming pool with sundeck for tanning; a nightclub (Rumours) open on Friday and Saturday nights; and various restaurants with Japanese, Chinese, steak and seafood dishes. Families can enjoy casual breakfast buffets inside the Plantation Cafe for a daily morning energy boost.

  • 24-hour business center
  • 5,000-square-feet of meeting facilities

Ala Moana Hotel

Location is close to ideal: right next to Ala Moana shopping center and bus transit center. great for shopping and communication, as well as food choices (at the food court)unless you want to drive (parking at hotels is not cheap). Rooms are clean and lobby spaceous. Room service response is super fast. This is my second stay at this hotel. For the price range this is the best hotel in the Waikiki area. Will be going back for more.

Ala Moana in Jan

We upgraded and had a spacious room with a balcony that we used to watch the sun rise and set. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The location right next to the Ala Moana Beach Park was great for us... quieter than Waikiki, and a reef that allowed a good swim from one edge of the bay to the other. The Ala Moana Mall has an excellent Dim Sum bakery that opens at 8:00 am for breakfast where a lot of older locals seem to come for their morning meal and talk time. We really enjoyed that as an option for breakfast.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Almost all the hotels on Waikiki Beach have live music night from around 5:30 till about 9:00. We liked the Outrigger Reef options and Duke's. The Mai Tai Bar in the mall has music later from 9:00pm on and there is often a local band or dance performance on the stage in the center part of the mall. The Ala Moana has music on Thursdays.

Great location, great for business travel

Ala Moana Hotel, HONOLULU, HI was very nice. The lobby is unreal (very classy). The room was on the small side but, after speaking to the locals I found that this is the norm based on the premium placed on space. After a few hours the room really actually felt bigger based on the efficent layout of the space. The view was nice from our 9th floor room (view of Ala Moana Park and habor). The Ala Moana Shopping Center (world class mall) is connected directly to the hotel via a ramp. This was my wife's favorite feature since I was there on business she had to entertain herself. She said that she loved this mall, great shops, bookstore, resturants. Some shops were so high end that she said that she only looked through the window. Waikki Beach is a short trolley ride a way (really glad was didn't choose a hotel there; too many people, traffic, and no real parking). The Ala Moana Hotel had recently completed a very dealed and nicely done overhaul. Definitely will stay at the Ala Moana Hotel on the return visit to Honolulu.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

1. Ala Moana Shopping Center: great shops, bookstore, and resturants. 2. Take the trolley to Waikki Beach located next door at the Ala Moana Shopping Center. $2 or free if you walk a little further down the mall (see the Free Trolley). Go between 2-3pm before the crowds.

Great Hotel for Repeat Visitors

Besides great location, the hotel is in great condition and everything is available at the hotel or the Ala Moana Shopping Center, which is walking distance (hotel attached to center) Only downside is no smoking rooms available because of local ordnance.

One of the Best Hotels in Waikiki

The rooms are very clean & are like new featuring decor and furnishings are modern. The 2nd floor has a bridge that is a 2 minute walk to Macy's and the mall, you don't even have to go to the street level. I stayed on the 28th floor for 1 week, never did I have to wait long for the elevator. The fitness center had state of the art machines. There is a club called Rumours on the ground floor that is hip and popular to locals. I thought parking may be tough but the attendants will help you find a spot if you don't get one the first time you go around. The only drawback I could think of is that it is a far walk to Waikiki's busy section, you'll have to take a bus ride but for me that means it's away from the crowd and noise. I love this hotel & I would definitely stay here again!
