A local hotel in true Honolulu near shopping and the beach
Totally revamped and refreshingly unpretentious, the two-tower Ala Moana Hotel is an island institution. Ala Moana Hotel is a favorite of Hawaii's neighbor island visitors who love the feel of being just outside of Waikiki. Enjoy front-door shopping, great rates and a short walk to an enormous beach. Ala Moana is one block from the Hawaii Convention Center and attracts groups from the mainland. The hotel's 36 floors and more than 1,000 rooms hardly keep Ala Moana a secret, but a surprising find amidst the pack.

winter warmth
The hotel staff was very friendly and competent. I reported a bathroom door hook that came off in the morning and it was fixed before the day was over. The location was superb in terms of going to the Ala Moana shopping center as well as the Ala Moana beach which was a short walk away. We wanted to get a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of Wakikii.

hotel is really convenient for shopping
This hotel was really quiet and clean. Location is so convenient for eating and shopping. There was so much parking at shopping center but one cannot park overnight. Did not like to pay $15 for parking at hotel - expensive.

Hawaiin New Years
The staff here couldn`t be more professional or helpful. Travis at the bell station was always helpful, courteous and personable(as was everyone else). I would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to shop. The mall is literally right next door and easily accessible. Rooms were clean and housekeeping was very friendly. If you don`t want to walk, I recommend you rent a car and bring your GPS. Advantage car rental was the best rates and cabs are expensive. Also try to visit Paradise Cove for the Luau(We really enjoyed this) Hoping to return soon! Oh, and bring sunblock! I got a nice tan, but boyfriend fried!!! :( Aloha!

Wonderful time
Hotel is great: We arrived on Dec 31st and asked for earlier check in. The room was already available and we could get the apt 1/2 hour before. Staff are friendly, the location could not ask for more: away from the noisy Waikiki but still close enough to walk to if we feel like. Transportation is right at the door inside the mall parking lot, so pretty safe to hop in buses and go everywhere. The room I got was not big but was enough for my son and I. It was very clean and the housekeeper would come in the hours of our convenience. We stayed on the 7th floor and it was quite. Safe also. Very comfortable and met our needs. We had a refrigerator and a microwave. We could shop fresh food in any of groceries around and eat them the time we wanted. The overall was great. I'd go back to Ala Moana

20th anniversary honeymooners
This hotel made our trip!
The hotel was very nice. Parking is $15.00 a day which is much less than hotels right in Waikiki. We booked this hotel through a package and I realized I didn't get a balconly but the company wanted too much money to change my room. I called the hotel and they said when I check in to tell them. I did and also told them it was our 20th anniversary and 1st time to Hawaii. They gave me my balconly room for an additional cost which I didn't mind but then they upgraded us to the most beautiful view room at no additional charge. All the staff was wonderful. The business center was a snap the morning of our check out to print out our boarding passes. We also paid a little extra for a 6:00pm checkout since our flight didn't leave until 10:00pm they were very helpful with that as well. When I return to Hawaii I will definately stay at the Ala Moana. We liked the fact it is attached to the mall and within walking distance to the bay and Walmart. We didn't want the "party all night atmosphere" and crowds of people at Waikiki beach. This was perfect. It's a very short 5 minute or so drive to Waikiki and we parked in a parking lot there and spent half a day having lunch and visiting the beach and shops and that was enough for us. If you want to do the site seeing tour of this island, I highly suggest staying at this hotel. It was so wonderful to be able to sit our on the Lanai and have your coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. I am not saying this hotel is free from the city noise because it isn't but you don't have the loud bar crowd noise. Please, do yourself a favor and stay at the Ala Moana. Thank you [...] at the front desk for making our stay one we'll remember with a smile for years to come. 1 note, our room was a bit small but we were told it would be the bed took up much of the room but still enough to walk around. Bathroom was nice size but I didn't ming giving up some floor space for that view. If we weren't sleeping or getting ready for the day, we were out on the lanai.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!!
Got in late at night from a flight from Kona. After a long week traveling on business on several islands - this was a real surprise. Not only the lobby area was a sight for sore eyes, but the rooms were impressive as well. Nothing big. Nothing fancy. But how could simplicity be so classy and warm and welcoming and comfy? All with refrigerators, microwaves, separate bar sink. How all that fit without feeling cramped or too big - is a testament to great design. All tastefully decorated. Modern. Beautiful. And THE BEST BED that I had EVER slept in in my entire life. I didn't want to get up in the morning. The service was great. Bell desk is open 24hrs - very convenient for travelers coming in from late flights and for business. [...] at Bell desk was extremely helpful. The valet was overly courteous, friendly, helpful. Just great overall. Would definitely stay here again.(I only stayed overnight, so I can't speak on the restaurant, pool or other items). They have a breakfast buffet that I wish I ate at, but was in a rush. Seemed great though.(Only thing I would ask is that they install a full-length mirror in the room. Only mirror is in the bathroom. Don't think if there was more than one person in the room how that would work out as far as sharing and getting dressed)

The Ala Moana mall is directly next door. It is not a typical "mall", it has a grocery store - Safeway - restaurants, health food store, etc. It has the clothing stores too - but it is outside/inside mall. Several levels. Good place. Can walk to it. I drove, cause I had to drive to other places.

very nice
this is a very nice place to stay, it may cost a little more then other places but still is very nice. i was on the 12th floor and it was very quiet. weird thing was that i never once saw anyone else on the 12th floor no one ever got off the elevator with me or anything lol i guess that was a nice thing i left at all hours of the day and night yet it felt like i had the place to myself. the room was cleaned every day and i mean really cleaned. umm spilled some stuff on the white sheets like 3 diff times yet the staff never once said a thing to me or charged me anything which i was very thankful for. the dors are heave and almost always lock shut but sometimes they dont so dont just let it swing shut make sure you really shut it... girlfriend and i got done playing kissy face a few times only to find out the door was just looked shut ( thank god noone else was on the floor with us) all in all this is a great place to stay at if your not a stuck up snob that thinks the hotel staff should kiss the ground you walk on! loved it and deff will be going back
