Decent place at a decent price
It's a regular motel at a regular motel price. Nothing too fancy, but it does the job, especially if you're here just for a good night's sleep and a hot shower in the morning. You're not paying 5 star prices, so don't expect 5 star luxury. Other than that, it's a great place to stay. It's really close to downtown.

Needs a little help
It has got to be tough to run a hotel in Hilo during rainy season. This was a good location and friendly staff, but the musty moldy smell of damp carpeting is really annoying to those of us with allergies. Appeared clean otherwise. Maybe a tile floor would have helped. Wait staff in restaurant were very good

our second stay, like coming home
We spent three weeks here last year and loved it. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful, the restaurant is nice with a good salad bar and friendly waitpersons, the rooms are comfy, and the location is super especially if you're a walker. No high paced tourist hype, this is the place to relax, eat well, get some sun, exercise, and catch up on your reading and knitting. Reasonable enough to extend your stay, and worth it. Low key, what a vacation should be.

Shopping tip:
Long walk from hotel
Walk to downtown Hilo and bring back fresh fruit and vegs from the public market for your room fridge - about 4 miles round trip, or take the bus one or both ways. Produce vendors are there daily, other stuff Wednesdays and Fridays.

Happy in Hilo
Wonderful staff, convenient location, good value. Only draw back is the decor which is funky - ranges from 50's (lobby furniture) to 80's (bedspread, room carpets)

Vacation
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast was really good. A full breakfast, not just a continental breakfast. Their restaurant was good, too, and reasonable priced with prompt friendly service. My only complaint would be that there was no free internet access. Other than that, it was great!
