Horrible Experience
Iggmo Jul 28, 2009
I wanted to take my husband to see Savannah as I had been many time and always enjoyed myself. I wanted him to enjoy it as ... much as I always had, however it turned into the worst experience in our travel history due to picking that Staybridge Suites. We arrived a little early and the desk clerk was rude and told us to go anyplace, but not to come back till after 3. When we came back I asked that being I had a disability if there was a side door or some assistance being as it was such a long walk from the handicapped parking to the front door, the answer was a flat NO, however later we noticed that a employee was assisting a couple bring in their items by way of a side door. The door to the room would not latch and lock when leaving without slamming it so hard the walls shook! AT 12 midnight,2 AM, 3 AM & 4AM the room next to us was slamming their door so hard the headboards rattled, but their screaming at each other was louder. Could not call the front desk as the phone did not work. The commode was not attached to the floor, there was black mold on the floor in the corner by the bathtub, the shower floor was so slick with slime that my husband almost fell and I did. Then when I informed the front desk of these problems I was told "Sorry", as she turned her back on me!

The hotel was in a fabulous location but not exactly what was depicted on the website. The room smelled of cigarettes, the ... carpet was dirty, and we found lubricant underneath the bed with a dog toy. The staff was very friendly and went the extra mile to ensure our satisfaction. The conceirge was very helpful in assisting us with dinner reservations. I would stay here again but only because I am prepared for what to expect.

Great Gem, right downtown Savannah
Michael R. May 24, 2009
The Staybridge is a wonderful hotel perfectly situated on E. Bay street. Just a short walk across the street and down the ... steps to Factor's Walk and River Street along the Savannah River. It's quite 'touristy' down there, but a wonderful atmosphere of shops, dining and 'people watching'. Plus there are stops for the city wide Trolley. You're also close to everything in the central city area to your south. It was very rainy when we were there, but I really apprecitated the valet service to park and retrieve your car. It's $12 per night, plus a tip if you wish, but well worth it. Parking could be a nightmare downtown. We also had our 13 year old Lab with us, and the pet service was also wonderful. They even had dog biscuits on the front desk! Plus, you only have to walk across the street to a park for your pet's convenience. The walk through the hotel lobby from the elevator to the front door was always interesting, with hotel guest always stopping you to inquire about your pet and to 'give a little love' to your pet. The friendlyness of all the staff, and even the guests at this wonderful hotel was unbelievable. Just curl up in the lobby with a good book, and you'll have stimulating conversations with fellow travelers who also love this downtown gem. Also, if you're a Priority Club member, remember to give them your card when you check in.

We found the dining experiencee much more interesting and afordable in center city than in the truly tourist section of Factor's Walk and River Street. There is no dining inside the hotel, but many places are a short walk away.

The Staybridge of Savannah,Ga
Peg May 10, 2009
WE played around Savannah and Tybee Island our whole stay. The room was much smaller then what it lloked like on the computer ... image. We are use to having a suite we felt cramped. There was only on arm chair and it was not very comforable. The bed was very hard but that is always a 50/50 shot when you stay at hotels. We would like to have known about the lack of parking and that it had to be Valet everytime. This was an extra cost we had not connected on as wellas the tips we gave each time we needed the car. It would have helped to have know about these extra costs upfront. I stay in hotels all over the country for business so i really do look for certain items when I am staying at a hotel. I am still thinking on whether I would use this hotel again for my next trip to Savannah.

The Staybridge Suites is the perfect hotel for family and business travelers. The rooms come with refrigerator w/ice maker, ... stove, dishwasher, microwave and all utensils. Also onsight is a laundry facility where you can wash your own clothes. They do not charge for this amenity. The location of the hotel is right across from River Street and many other local attactions. There is also a free full breakfast in the morning. The staff was always friendly and very helpful. The concierge went above and beyond helping us to get a rental car. I have nothing bad to say about this visit. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.
