Good location, VERY NOISY ROOM!

Disappointed. Sep 15, 2009

Reservered a room with a King Bed on Orbitz. Call to confirm with hotel, they had me down for two queens. Had that corrected. ... Arrived, checked in, went to room to find it in disarray. Bathroom had pipes on floor. Looked like room was being repaired. And by the way, it had two queen beds. Call front desk, told them the condition of the room and that I requested a King bed. Was told "No Kings Available" Told them OK we're out of here, they checked again and found a room with a King. We got to our room 45 mins later. Room faced Bay St. VERY NOISY!! Trucks all night long. Would not recommed this hotel. No way is it a 4 star hotel. Oh, add $12.00/day charge for hotel parking.

Dining tip, Short Walk

The Pink House was a great place to dine. The Cotton Exchange down on River Street was a good place as well. We also ate at the Boar's Head. The River Street Inn was just okay. If you like country home cooking we had Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House recommended several times - we did not eat there because it's just not our type of diet, but it looked fun.

I like the location of the Hotel, close to just about everything. Didn't like that there wasn't a covered check-in area, ... especially since it was raining when I arrived but liked the secured parking garage. Very nice inside but had to climb stairs to get to my room. Overall a very nice quiet stay and I liked it and would consider returning again.

Dining tip

The food in Savannah is on par with good southern and/or New Orleans cooking and just about everywhere is good fare. There is something for almost everyone so get a city guide or just walk around, nothing is too far. Around City Market is great for going out also. If you like seafood and/or BBQ go to Tybee Island and eat at the Crab Shack. You won't be disappointed.

Take the DOT buses around for FREE! It stops at the pirate house on the side of the hotel. Also Pedicabs are AWESOME and cheap! If you want the history of the squares, do a tour bus $25 per person for hop on hop off. If going to the beach, get there 9 am or you cannot park! It gets very busy there. I was told that most places only take cash so keep some on hand in the historic district.

I loved the Mulberry. It's right across Bay St. from the River St. pier. I actually walked to all my entertainment and ... shopping spots. I only drove out to Tybee Island, which was only a 10 minute drive to the coast. The staff was gracious; especially my house cleaning lady. Wonderful little Latin woman. Absolute great location. Savannah and the Mulberry Inn

nona Jul 19, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Hotel staff were generally very helpful and willing to do extra work to improve our stay. It was great to have a ... refrigerator and microwave in the room; the microwave, however, had to be constantly unplugged because it made repeated beeping noises during the night. Since we were travelling with a child, we asked that the microwave be replaced or repaired. We continued to have the problems throughout the stay. The tub had very stained and unattractive fixtures. I was almost afraid to touch the tub because of the fixtures! On a positive note, the Hotel Ambassador went out of her way to help us on at least two occasions. Generally, people were friendly and accommodating.

Dining tip, Short Drive

Skip Paula Deen and go to the Firefly.

Money savers tip, Short Walk

Take the DOT buses around for FREE! It stops at the pirate house on the side of the hotel. Also Pedicabs are AWESOME and cheap! If you want the history of the squares, do a tour bus $25 per person for hop on hop off. If going to the beach, get there 9 am or you cannot park! It gets very busy there. I was told that most places only take cash so keep some on hand in the historic district.

Dining tip, Short Drive

A lovey casual restaurant on Tybee Island called, Fannie's. Reasonably priced, and you can sit on the upper deck and watch beach goers as you eat. It's most noticeable by it's pink exterior.

--Arron, Monroe, Ga. Jul 21, 2009

Dining tip, Long Walk

You are able to get reservations for the Paula Deen Restaurant (Lady and Sons) if you take the Paula Deen tour. Otherwise, you have to wait or go early in the morning for the evening meal.

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Walk

the $10 trolley ride was very helpful in orienting you to the Savannah area.

--chinadolls, port jervis ny Jul 1, 2009

Dining tip, Short Drive

You must go to the CRAB SHACK on Tybee Island. 20 minute ride from hotel and lovely location right next to the water. Eat outside under the trees (don't worry, lots of fans and misters, very cool.) and have the Crab pot meal for two! Crab, mussels, shrimp, crawfish, potatoes,corn...YUM!

--Angela, Charlotte NC Jun 28, 2009

Entertainment tip, Short Drive

Go to the Civil War museum on Marthin Luther King JR Boulevard. Great value and amazingly friendly staff.

--USlover, Scranton, PA Jun 27, 2009

Time savers tip, Short Walk

Learn the 21 squares and that will help you with the directions and walking time.

--Show-me traveler, mid Missouri Jun 26, 2009

Dining tip, Long Walk

lots of great restaurants not far from hotel: the olde pink house, mrs. wilkes, vic's etc. we loved them all.

Time savers tip

Take the Savannah pedicabs to dinner if you don't want to walk. It;s much better than a cab, and a great way to see the city. The cyclists work on tips, so enjoy the ride and tip well. The Mulberry is in a great location though, and there are a lot of things within walking distance.

--Tech Girl, Atlanta, GA Apr 28, 2009

Time savers tip, Short Walk

to pick up the free trolley that goes around the main attractions and parks. The free trolley stop is on the street behind the hotel. It comes by between 15 - 20 mins during the day.

Dining tip, In Hotel

Sunday Brunch is great. Breakfast is reasonable and the buffet was all fresh. The Staff was excellent. We've been to more expensive hotels and the food wasn't as good.

--Yankee, New Jersey Apr 22, 2009

Dining tip, Short Walk

Boar's Head Restaraunt is very yummy but sharing a plate is the way to go! They're expensive so it helps there but they also add food to the shared plates without adding cost! Wow - impressive.. The fried green tomatoes - yummo..

--Becky M., Hilliard, FL Apr 22, 2009

Dining tip, In Hotel

Don't miss breakfast or lunch in the dining room.

--Carol & Sal, Hatfield, PA Mar 3, 2009

Shopping tip, Short Walk

Many quaint shops within a block or two of hotel. The river walk is right across the street. With a variety of shopping and restaurants. Also interesting boats and vendors at the city market.
