Elegant accommodations and breathtaking views in historic Savannah
The historic DeSoto hotel has offered southern hospitality in the heart of the Hostess City's historic district for more than a century. Recently-renovated, the DeSoto still retains classic style with historic touches like original crystal chandeliers and a sitting room decorated with reminders of the hotel's past, including visits by American presidents. DeSoto's 15 stories boast some of the best views in Savannah with guestrooms and suites overlooking the city. Flexible event space can accommodate up to 850 guests.
Highlights
- Upper floors of the 15-story hotel offer incredible views of Savannah's historic district
- The hotel has 20,000 square feet of flexible, state-of-the-art meeting space
- Pets welcome
Rooms
The hotel boasts 246 guestrooms and suites. Rooms on higher floors--especially the corner rooms--have incredible views of Savannah's skyline, including the twin turrets of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Madison Square and the Talmadge Bridge over the Savannah River. City view and corner guestrooms offer one king or two double beds, while spacious suites have king beds, parlors and private dining and meeting areas. Room amenities include 32-inch flat-screen TV, mp3 docking station and free Wi-Fi access.
Features
The historic DeSoto hotel has accommodated celebrities and heads of state, including U.S. presidents, since 1890. The grand lobby and meeting areas still retain period furnishings and elegant décor. Guests can dine at DeSoto Grille, which features southern cuisine and sprawling buffets during breakfast and lunch. Beulah's, the hotel's coffee counter, serves Starbucks coffee and prepared to-go meals. Guests can sip cocktails in the Lions Den Lounge. Other amenities include a fitness and business center and an outdoor swimming pool with lounge chairs and cabanas. Flexible meeting and banquet facilities total 20,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 850 guests.

Not a Good Stay
The room was 82 degrees when we got there and didn't get below 75 during our weekend stay. The bathroom had rust everywhere. We could hear anything that our neighbors said through the walls. We were never asked how our stay was and the staff was of little to no help. The room was extremely small and the bed was extremely below par. A Hampton Inn would have been better than this location, and I would have gladly sacrificed the downtown spot for a small drive to get a better hotel. I was extremely disappointed with every aspect of this hotel, and will never stay at this Hilton again.

We decided to spend Halloween in Savannah to take in the historical haunts. The Hilton provided a perfect price for it's perfect location! We were within a 5 min walk to so many activities, bars, restaurants, shopping, and history!

Great Experience
My wife & I stayed here for 3 nights while we visited SCAD. For the price, we couldn't have asked for a better value. We paid considerably less than the other 3-4 star hotels in the city's historic district. The location was perfect for our needs. We were only 2 blocks from the SCAD Admissions office, a few blocks from Broughton Ave., and only a short walk to Bay St. and the riverfront. The hotel staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Our room had a tempurpedic mattress which, in my opinion, is unparalleled for comfort and restful sleep. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay here. However, I would recommend self-parking your car, as the valet service is a substantial $17 a day.

Where was the southern hospitality?
Check in was fast and friendly but that stopped after entering the room. The room lacked things that should have been basic like a clean AC filter not hanging out and put in wrong,a clean shower, blanket for the bed ect... We requested these and others such as a refrigerated. Things were taking care of but the service including room service was lacking in friendliness. Valet was a nightmare. Our car was left on the street side for hours and then put in the garage on the curve side instead of a parking space. We could not get through to valet to bring car around so we went down to basement where we were handed our keys to get our own car and then got stuck at the exit when our key would not open the exit bar.We went straight to valet manager on duty whom immediately called down to straightened out the staff and offered us free valet for our stay. If not for Miguel,we would never think about going back. He took our name and e- mails to offer more but we have not heard from him as of We ended up staying an extra might but went to a different hotel. We were told we had much of these issues because we booked through Orbitz.

The Pink House restaurant had the most amazing food and the ambiance is unbelievable! Would I recommend to a friend, my answer is maybe. I will need to call the manager and see a copy of our final bill first which we are yet to see.

the hotel was nice and the bed was very comfortable and had a great view. I wasn't expecting the 50 dollar for checking in late and 50 for checking out early

The Hilton Desoto is located in a great area. The room was clean and neat but small. The hotel decor was well-appointed for this area. I would stay here again. Pay close attention to your bill. I was overcharged by mistake.
