Quaint hotel

charming older hotel with nice staff, clean but in need of new towels (ours were more gray than white). City noises (obviously beyond the hotel's control) woke us, But for the one night we needed and the price, it was a nice place to stay.

Great bargain!

This truly is a "boutique hotel" -- which I have found to mean small rooms in an older building. Still, the Highland Inn has tremendous character and is located in a great location where you can walk to great restaurants/shops. We prefer boutique hotels to the more generic motel/hotel chains. The staff was friendly, as were the other guests. Our room and bed was small but very comfortable and clean (fresh sheets every day). We really enjoyed the Highland Inn and will definitely be back (we have family in the area).

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

San Francisco Coffee and Aurora Coffee are located a short walk away. San Francisco Coffee is closest (5 minutes) but doesn't open until 8 a.m. on weekends (it's 7 on week days). Aurora is another 5 minutes away and opens at 6:30 weekdays and 7 on week-ends. We preferred the coffee at Aurora -- and clearly this is where the locals go. Still, they played great music at San Francisco Coffee and offered a mean quiche and egg sandwiches (some days you need the protein) .

Perfect location!

My daughter and I stayed here for the night while visiting friends and local places. The location was perfect for us!! We walked to dinner and shopping nearby!! The Inn is small and older....it could use some updating, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. I will stay here again!!

great place, needs some work

walking distance to a funky, ecclectic downtown area with plenty to do. The room had its problems, needs to be rearranged. The bed is positioned so there can be no bed side table, hence no lamp. To turn off the lights you must get up and go to the door, and come back in the dark. The soap was a small pkg of liquid soap, Have you every tried to open industrial pkging with wet hands in the shower? That said, I would stay there again, I'd bring a flashlight, and my own bar of soap.

Creepy black cat, okay place to stay

Extremely good location - take the #2, #16 buses to midtown / downtown, and save lots of money on taxis. Me and my wife stayed there for around 4 nights - 5 days. Breakfast is limited (muffins, bagels, orange juice from the store, coffee, bananas, apples, oranges).

Great stay at The Highland Inn

Had wonderful 3-night stay. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, safe, quiet room at a very economical rate. Free parking, free self-serve breakfast. In downtown Atlanta, convenient to just about anything you want to see. Friendly, helpful staff. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely stay there on future trips to Atlanta!

Creepy pets, good location

Jack (the black cat) creeps out everyone at the entrance. Staff is really nice. Location is fantastic. Rooms and amenities could be way better. But, for the price, it is fair enough.
