Amazing hotel!
Audrey Dec 5, 2009
The hotel didn't have any knowledge of my reservation, however the staff was great and resolved the problem within 1/2 hour. ... Amazing location. Had I know it was across the street from the Fox theater I would have tied to get tickets in advance. My room was very tiny but ok for business travel. Staff made me feel very special. Restaurant, though expensive, was a culinary experience and my waiter Kent was a gem and a true ambassador for the Georgian Terrace. Can't wait to go back!

Even if the room was a little bit small, the situation of the room was really good, awesome views from the 16th floor. Luxury ... equipment, really a 4 stars hotel.Besides the valet instead of charging us 2 days only charged 1 at 25$, we were very grateful surprised in our 2 days in this very nice hotel.

Great Time, But Only Because of My GF
zeusroom39 Nov 26, 2009
Reservation was canceled by the hotel, even though I had paid by credit card, because I had arrived late. (Keep in mind that ... I had alerted the hotel as to my exact arrival time.) Reservation was reinstated, but it took too long. I was told that the pool was heated. It was not. I had a one room suite, but here were no kitchen implements. Also, there were charges for phone calls that were not made by me.

Gorgeous, but watch out for the decline
Marky D Nov 20, 2009
The Georgian Terrace is an upscale hotel, but I saw some signs of an impending decline. Maintenance on my room was a bit ... lacking, and the TV reception was poor. The fitness center is well-equipped, but the machines are showing some wear and not getting the maintenance they need either.

Still old and tired despite upgrades
TravelingUke Nov 11, 2009
I've been to the GT many times over the years and still don't see how it's rated four stars on some sites. While it has ... undergone a lobby and restaurant upgrade (and some rooms as I understand), the basic shell is still the same. Rooms are tired looking and since the hotel was once a residence, most still have kitchens. I was shocked at the room service surcharges: 22% gratuity PLUS a $3 service charge. For what? Is there an exceptional skill involved in pushing a cart to a room? My simple salad, steak, and single glass of wine ended up costing $65! Not returning here anytime soon.

Not so luxurious....and a rip off
Smokin mad Nov 2, 2009
[...] I was not made aware when I checked in that it was a smoke free property. There were no signs posted, so I smoked in ... the room on my first night there. There was a note left on my bed the next day, so I didn't smoke in the room anymore. The third day of my trip, they locked me out of my room, and made security escort me to my room to let me in. Then my key still would not work the rest of my trip. I had to be escorted to my room after going up there and then having to go back to the front desk for assistance. Then upon checkout they charged me a $250 cleaning fee. They refused to take it off....[...] The room was old and not in very good condition. The peel and stick tile on the floor in the kitchen and closet was torn and coming up. There were spots on the ceiling in the bedroom and burn marks on all the countertops (kitchen and bathroom). This hotel [...] is a rip off.

what a wonderful hotel
dapple Nov 1, 2009
I went to a conference at the Hyatt and decided to stay at another hotel. I loved the Georgian. I had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath ... apartment. It had a full kitchen but absolutely no cooking nor eating utensils. Weird. I did use the washer/dryer in the apartment. The front desk was always helpful & I found all the employees to be lovely. The fitness room was very nice-better than most. I would stay there again. My daughter lives in Atlanta & picked me up at the airport & drove me around for dinner. I used MARTA to get back to the airport-only $2.50. Good bargain.

Classy and Comfortable!!
Super Traveling Phoenician Oct 29, 2009
Arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by super friendly doormen and bellhops (who took our bags up to our room for us ... voluntarily)...the front desk staff was extremely courteous and helpful and check-in was smooth and quick. Our room was beautiful (Luxury single) and particularly enjoyed the wallpaper in the bathroom. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've *ever* slept in!!...I only got about 5-6 hours of sleep, but it felt like I had slept for 12 hours or so when I woke up. The only issue is that this website lists the luxury room as having a washer/dryer...this is incorrect...as only the large suites, or the ones reserved for extended stay customers have the washer/dryer in the rooms. The hotel is in a convenient downtown/midtown location, right across from the Fox Theatre. Upon leaving, the extremely helpful doorman called us a cab (they have a 24 hour cab stand outside the hotel) and one was there within minutes. I wish we could have stayed for much longer than the overnight stay we had.

Good, but not perfect
eef Oct 27, 2009
For the price, it was a great experience. The first room I was assigned wasn't ready when I went to check in, but another ... room was immediately assigned (on a higher floor). I was in a suite, so space was great and having 2 LCD TVs in the room was nice (although they were HD, only SD signals were being put through them, but I really wasn't there to watch TV). The hotel has been remodeled, and the lobby looks fantastic. However, in the suite (particularly the bathroom), there were several spots that had either been missed or just not retouched. The location is great since I was there for a show at the Fox and there was plenty of dining in walking distance. Parking is expensive ($25 daily), but that is on par with my other recent stays in Atlanta. Overall a great experience. I would certainly book here again.

Good stay overall!
MorehouseGrad2008 Oct 26, 2009
Went back to Atlanta for Morehouse/Spelman Homecoming 2009. Great location, right downtown, across from the Fox Theatre. But ... also, bad my weekend because there was a concert going on at the Fox Theatre on Thursday and Friday of my trip and the hotel allows Fox guests to park in the hotel parking deck that it already shares with the Hotel Indigo next door. Parking rates are ridiculous for guests. It is downtown Atlanta but $25 for overnight parking seems a bit absurd to me. When I first checked in I was there only about 20 min before leaving again and I was charged $8. After the first night, I parked a block behind the hotel on Juniper St. in a more residential area for free. Housekeeping was GREAT! We left a couple things in the room, including some jewelry and they came downstairs and met us to make sure we got it back before we left. A+! Other than that, hotel was great, I would just be sure there is no event at the Fox before booking next time.

Good price with limitations
Icthy Oct 15, 2009
Great lobby and history but "standard" room came up short. Suite is 2 rooms - awkward sizes with a sitting room that has a ... chair and no table/desk to work on. Door crooked and very difficult to open with key card. When I asked for a room with a desk they told me that would be an upgrade from a "standard" at $30. There on business so working on the bed or chair with no table was difficult. The lighting was poor and the internet was intermittent/dropped frequently. Staff was not friendly or particularly helpful. Pool is seasonal so that's out and there's no hot tub. Standard room is not big enough for 2 much less 1 person. Location is good for dinning and proximity to downtown and elsewhere.

Very Nice Hotel but with a few negatives
gciriani Oct 14, 2009
I didn't expect such a classy hotel [...]The area is very nice with a choice of restaurants. The architecture is beautiful, ... the rooms are very nice and comfortable. However, quality of service seemed inconsistent. I was given a room that was still undone; after I went back to reception and explained, I was immediately given another one. Then at checkout I was charged for valet parking; after I explained I didn't have a car, the charge was immediately canceled. Not a big deal, obviously accidental mistakes happen, but two in a row are indicative of management problems. All in all I would stay again in this hotel.
