Poorly maintained hotel!
Smelly rooms/ carpets greeted us! To change room to a better floor costs $50 a night after bargaining. For the number of people staying there, there is only one toaster with 4 slots to toast your bread. If you are a tea drinker, take your own tea bags. You have to wait for a long time, while staff go shopping to Starbucks to get a tea bag for you! Only positive thing is convenient location.

This hotel is a great bargain. The hotel staff is great! I made my reservations the day of my visit via online and ran into a bit of the delay with check-in. However, management was very accomodating and even offered an upgrade for free. The bar within the hotel has very friendly bartenders! .

Entertainment tip:
Short drive from hotel
This hotel is near the MARTA Train and only one stop from the center of downtown (MIDTOWN). Art and entertainment is all within a 2 mile radius. There is also tons of entertainment in Buckhead, Midtown, and surrounding areas-all with reach of the train.

Hmm...
Now I see why they did not have pictures of the bathrooms. For the price, I thought the room would have been a little more upscale. The room was clean, but just not what I expected. If I had a to do it all over again, I would stay somewhere else.

Fancy hotel with a lackluster housekeeping crew
Really nice hotel, with pleasant, modern styling. Excellent (but expensive) room service. Front desk staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The only problem I found with this hotel was that the housekeeping was alternately non-existent or very slow. On two separate days, I left my room around 8, returned at 3, and no one had been there to tidy up and replace towels. Not that it's a tragedy, but I think the housekeeping is part of what I pay for at a nice hotel. I love coming back to a clean room, don't you? I called once to have someone come by, and it took over two hours for anyone to show up. Lame. But the rest was great. There is a bar serving Starbucks beverages in the lobby -- extremely convenient. There are always cabs outside ready to whisk you away. And when you arrive or leave the lobby, you're always greeted warmly by the staff. It's very nice. The room service again, is pretty good food (4 out of 5 stars) in my opinion, but a little too expensive. $32 for a dinner of cod, rice, and veggies. That does not include drinks. Eh, I'll chalk it up to a splurge. Overall, I am satisfied.

Short walk from hotel
This hotel is a short walk to the Georgia Tech Conference Center, and I think it's much nicer. Watch for sales, though, since this one is typically a bit more pricey. =)

My Melia Experience
The staff was very nice, helpful, and personable. We booked through a travel website- we weren't aware that we would be required to pay an additional $28 per day for valet parking. Although our reservations were for a deluxe room with double beds, we had to prove this with our email confirmation to avoid an additional $20 per day upcharge. The pillows on our bed were not clean - they actually had an unpleasant odor. We only ate breakfast 1 of 3 days at the hotel. Although our reservation was for 3 people, we were only given 2 free breakfasts per day. We had to speak with the restaurant manager to have this waived. The staff always aimed to please and were quick to correct issues - that is what helped our experience. The location was central to everything we planned to do, so that was convenient as well.
