Booked a 'W' - got 'far less'

$150/night for a 6 night stay is more than I would pay almost anywhere. But this (near friends) was a 'W' when I made the reservation - with a thriving on-premises social scene. I received [...] notification before I went that this was no longer a W. When I asked, I was told that the rate wouldn't be changing (lower). I guess we all fell victim to the same bait-and-switch.Our suite - with the kitchen right at the door before entering the living room and bedroom - had a funny aroma that stayed all week, either from the kitchen pipes or appliances, or mustiness from prior flooding somewhere in the living area. For the first two days, the shower wouldn't drain in less than 30 minutes. The staff did fix this promptly when told. (But how long had it been that way...?)When we checked in, we were offered free mileage points if we opted out of maid service for our room. We declined that offer. Still, our room wasn't maid up until the third day, even though - at 6PM day 1 and 11AM day 2 - we told housekeeping staff in the hallway we were vacating and would like service. On the third day we left a list of needs at the front desk, and the room was finally serviced. If I had to guess, the quality of the physical hotel caused the 'W' brand to be revoked before our trip - and it shows. And any other 'draw' of a W had long been removed, as there was no social scene to speak of, leaving only a bare bones bar counter/restaurant which was seldom sparsely busy. All above aside, the desk staff was incredibly friendly and the porters/drivers/bellmen were attentive, prompt, friendly and integral to our trip - the only valuable service in the $150/night rate.
