Marriott was superb as usual.
CindySentra Nov 2, 2009
My husband and I love Marriott, whether we stay in a Marriott Courtyard or the Marriott Marquis. We are a middle income ... family but it is well worth the splurge to stay at the best when we go away for the weekend. Our room was immaculate and there were four pillows on each bed, a desk with comfortable swivel chair and an easy chair with reading light next to it.I can't say enough about Marriott service. Even though we booked our room through [...], we were treated just the same as if we had paid twice as much through a direct reservation. The breakfast buffet at Sear was excellent, really a cut above the usual, with an omelet station where your omelet is cooked to order. It's pricey at $22, so the [...] deal for breakfast included is worth taking. The Marriott Marquis is a beautiful hotel - the tallest atrium hotel in the world! If you go to the tenth floor, you can take an elevator almost to the very top, with a great view of the atrium roof from the glass elevators. The hotel's location is superb. It is a few blocks walk to Underground Atlanta, the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola. When the Westin Peachtree Plaza completes renovations, it will be a three block walk to the tallest hotel in the western hemisphere (70 stories). We had wanted to take their glass elevators but had to wait until renovations are complete. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis three years ago. Since then, a new restaurant, Sear, has replaced the one they had and it has a great atmosphere and the previously mentioned breakfast buffet. The pool is large and the inside and outside parts of it are connected by an opening. Towels are available at the pool.We plan to stay at the Marriott Marquis again next year. We were in the lobby of a fancier hotel and it was like "Grand Central Station". Our lobby was quiet and elegant and provided electrical outlets for our laptops. We definitely recommend this hotel!

Magnificent?
Me Sep 28, 2009
We were greeted at the front desk- "Welcome to the magnificent Marriot Marquis". When we got to the room, it was just OK, ... certainly not "magnificent". I realize we were paying for the location, but I have stayed in nicer hotels for less money. It wasn't terrible, but I don't feel like I got my money's worth.

Take taxis which costs $12 each way for 3 people for the Georgia Aquarium and CNN Center. This is way better than renting a car and having to pay for parking at the hotel and all the tourist spots.

The hotel was huge, lots for the teenagers I had with me to wander around and look at, including an indoor/outdoor pool. The ... location is within walking distance of major attractions, and on the main street for the rest of the things we wanted to see. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again.

no service hotel
disappointed traveler Jul 2, 2009
The elevators were beautiful but slow. Unfortunately, the personnel was poor. Our room did not get serviced 2 out of the 4 ... nights we were there even after requesting it. The concierge was rarely there and when we found one he recommended a horrible restaurant. The restaurant in the hotel was good but had small portions and was very expensive. The location was convenient but that was the only positive.

Fantastic hotel for the price
Amy Jun 29, 2009
The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta but it is still quite a distance from the greatest tourist attractions ... (ex. Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center, etc.). At day 1, we went to the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola. At day 2, we took a taxi to Zoo Atlanta and the bus from there to the Underground Atlanta. Then we also got tickets to see the CNN Center later that day. The hotel has a very nice restaurant. We had our best dinner there of our trip. It also serves great breakfast buffet on the weekends.

Weekend
My wife and I Jun 22, 2009
While the Room was very clean and the staff somewhat helpful, the "riot" atmosphere was very unpleasent. I'm not sure if it ... was the guess staying at the hotel, but for 3 nights there were people screaming from the balcony into the lobby.... all kids of noises. The staff shouldn't allow that. I think that while the hotel is clean and presentable, I would rather stay in a more peaceful hotel. June 2009.

Pretty good, but not ideal for us
Atlanta Ex-Patriot May 26, 2009
The hotel location was excellent for our trip (visiting downtown Atlanta attractions). The staff was very helpful and ... attentive. The room was nice and clean, but nothing particularly special. It didn't have an LCD or Plasma TV, or a DVD player, and there was a fee for the Internet connection. Also, the walkway to Peachtree Center (where the MARTA station is located) was closed most of the weekend, which resulted in us dealing with panhandlers about 50% of the time. There was a convention going on which created a fair amount of noise in the atrium. We were able to get a room up on the 29th floor, so we didn't have to deal with the noise in the room. However, if you're looking for a quiet place for a vacation stay, I would be wary of this hotel and the convention hotels in the area (the Hyatt, Westin, Hilton, etc.).

HUGE Hotel
Susan Apr 22, 2009
The hotel was clean and offered all necessary services. My only complaint was the design of the hotel. It had an atrium ... extending up 30-something floors with the room door opening to the atrium. This allows the noise to travel from the very busy lobby and lobby bars to your room. The hum of activity was heared well after midnight in my room. Also, the hotel seems to service quite a few conventions. This makes the hotel VERY crowded and loud.
