Don't let bad reviews scare you away!!
Nikki Pat from the H Nov 29, 2009
My 18-year-old sister and I decided to take a vacation while we were both out of school (i'm a teacher) and we chose Tampa. I ... read a lot of reviews about this place--a lot of good reviews, and a lot of bad ones, too. Because of its location, view of Tampa Bay, and exceptional price, I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I was not disappointed!! The hotel was absolutely wonderful. Its location is 5 minutes away from the airport, but it only takes a short while (10-20 minutes) to get to the other side of town. The drive to St. Petersburg is only a 15 minute drive. The Hotel has a very small gift shop, which is really a closet with a fridge and cooler in it. Even still, it has beer, wine, food, and snacks and is open 24 hours. It was also very quiet. You can't even tell you have neighbors. There is also a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and dishes. This came in handy!! Overall, love this place and the next time i'm in Tampa I will probably be staying here again.

I read about J. Christopher's on N. Dale Mabry so I decided to give it a try. It is a breakfast/brunch/lunch joint and is open every day from 7 am to 2 pm. This place has some of the best breakfast I've ever had in my life!

michele from NY Oct 25, 2009
We only stayed there one night. The staff were absolutely fantasitic. The grounds were very clean. My only complaint was ... that the room had some minor holes in the walls (inside a closet) and the couch was very out dated and not very comfortable. You could tell they were renavating. I would definately stay here again. Thank you

We're not picky!
Someones wife Oct 19, 2009
It was exactly what we needed on our short stay in Tampa. The guy at check in was very nice, and let us check in at 8am. Our ... room had a "partial" water view which was ok with us, and it was a decent size. Just what we needed. The room was clean and cute, the only thing was that there was a huge flat screen tv, but horrible reception! Why have a brand new tv and not good cable connection? Thats really our only complaint...It was a great room for the price!

Wished it were nicer
wedding traveler Oct 19, 2009
We came to town for a wedding and wanted a place with a kitchen. We were very pleased with the price but somewhat ... dissapointed with the room. The kitchen was not well stocked with cooking equipment but we made do. The appliances were very old but everything worked. The room was outdated with ugly carpet and worn patched wallpaper. They supplied one small bar of soap, no customary shampoo. Not very many towels but they brought more when we asked. Stupid CFL light bulbs were annoying because they didn't come on right away. They were attentive to our requests, but the breakfast is a joke. Just prepackaged danish and coffee. This place was doable for cheap family lodging, but would not do for a romatic get away. Not much to entertain on site.

Was on a vacation to relax, the pool was very nice and had plenty of chaises to relax on. The view was wonderful, could ... watch the sunset without having to travel. The kitchen had everything you needed and it was great to have it, saved money and time! I thought the bed was very comfortable but the couch was a bit on the small side. I thought Sailport was a great place to stay and a reasonable price for all the amenities, I would stay there again!

Beautiful view, and great location!
Jessica Oct 17, 2009
We were in town for a wedding so it was very nice to have a balcony to relax on after putting our 15 month old to sleep. We ... also had a great view from the balcony and were so close to the water we could actually hear it lapping the shore at night. Older building but a very clean room with a full kitchen to include a full size fridge, microwave, coffee pot, dishwasher, and full stove and oven, there was even a bleder and electric can opener in the cabinet. It came fully stocked with dishes, silverware and pots and pans. Really great when traveling on a budget, you can cook in your room instead of going out.

Customer Service..GREAT, room was not
Family of 4 Oct 13, 2009
The staff was SUPER friendly. They got me anything I needed/wanted. This helped to make up for the living quarters. This ... would be a great place to stay for a couple. The one bedroom that sleeps 6--is not so much. The bedroom is very small, very tight and crammed. The sofa bed was flimsy and uncomfortable. I immediately tried to get a bigger room and I only had 4 in my party, but there were not any two bedrooms left. This is ok for the price if only two people were staying in the room. The bed was made the first day, but they did not make up the sofabed. They did on the second day. I love the fact that we got fresh towels--as many as we needed and the cleaning staff took out our garbage. Overall, the hotel was great on cleanliness, great on customer service, but the rooms were just so small. Only one bathroom that two people couldn't fit in comfortably at the same time (unless one was in the shower).

Business Traveler Oct 3, 2009
Excellent value. The property is old but in the process of being renovated. This is far from a luxury hotel, but quite nice ... for the money. It is directly on the bay, with beautiful views and sunsets. Staff is friendly. Location is great for business, minutes from the airport to I275, the Veterans Expressway, restaurants and downtown. The only thing I didn't like is the guest parking is below the rooms and guests were constantly sounding their horn while locking their car. Overall, I'd go back.

Clerk was friendly. Room was spacious and clean. Only one elevator, so we had to drag our luggage a long way. Our bed was ... really soft--and personally we prefer a harder bed. Too much light came in through our bedroom window, although we've found this true at many hotels, so we put a blanket up to make the room darker. Having said all that, I would stay again.
