Sailport Waterfront Suites

There is a beach close by but not at the hotel. It is only ocean front.

The Sailport Waterfront Suites was a perfect stop for an overnight stay before an early flight home. The staff was effective, the room was spacious and clean and the location was first rate.

We stayed here for a quick overnight before heading to the Tampa airport. It was convenient to the airport and the staff was friendly. If you are expecting a traditional hotel... not the place for you. We arrived at 11pm and stayed until 6:30 the next morning to catch a flight. It took about 20 minutes of driving around the complex to find the check-in located on the 2 floor in the center of the complex and we only found it after getting another guest to help us.

The hotel was in a good location near the airport and had a view of the bay. The sunset beach area was pretty and relaxing. The staff was polite and provided a sheet with directions to restaurants and attractions in the area. The room was large and included a large flat screen TV in the living room; microwave, full-sized fridge and sink in the kitchen; and another TV in the separate bedroom. The towels and toiletries were the only thing I didn't really like.

We found it to be a central location to travel for our vacation. We seen friends in largo 15 minuites away. We went to clearwater beach for the day 20 minuites away. The sand looked to be pure white. It's about a 1 hour 45 minuite drive to Orlando where we spent the day visiting our friends on vacation at there condo. Spent several days at the pool where it was clean and heated. the only problem we found was the the couch was very unconfortable and very hard when watching TV.

Room as advertised is relatively honest. Pros: Living room ocean view, full kitchen facility with utensils in unit, low cost, WIFI internet, sandy play area outside, nice balcony, very close to airport and downtown Tampa, convenient parking, living room sleeper couch is adequate. Easy to find and get to. Pool looked clean and water was warm - but too cold outside and windy to actually swim in it. Cons: bedroom does NOT have ocean view. cleaning service mediocre, but not horrible. No beach. 30 to 40 minute drive to Clearwater beach. No restaurant or food on site. Nothing interesting in walking distance - MUST have car to go anywhere interesting. No much room for hanging wet beach ware. NO BEACH TOWELS PROVIDED (though they do provide towels for their own pool). We used the bathroom towels provided to take to the beach. I would recommend this to a VERY budget conscious traveler. But you'll want to grocery shop and lay in supplies. It's kind of like renting an apartment. Not really a full service place. But its clean and convenient.

The hotel was overbooked to a point that instead of giving two separate rooms (as we booked ahead of time), the two families of us has to stayed in one suite with two rooms. The pull out bed should have been scrapped five years ago. They are absolutely not suitable for human to sleep on.

We paid for this hotel upfront as I was in Tampa for an operation When we arrived we were told that they had to have our credit card details or they would not book us in.. We did not have our credit cards with us having decided to use cash only - but my daughter had her money on a credit card issued by the money lender. We had a long wait and if we had not had this we would not have been allowed into our room My operation was scheduled for 5.30am the next day! The Staff were slow and unhelpful especially one from Russia who was downright obnoxious . The room was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable in the bedroom - however the settee was very uncomfortable with springs poking through the mattress .

I live in the cold midwest and was traveling overnight to Tampa in December, so I thought it would be nice to be near the water. I also wanted to be close to the airport. This was perfect. 2-3 mi from the airport but right on the water. What I got was essentially a 1 bedroom condo with a a full kitchen, separate bedroom, and a balcony overlooking the water. Great deal! The furniture and carpets were pretty well worn from a lot of kids and families, but hey, it's on the water. The staff was very friendly. The room had a 40"-ish flat panel TV, and a nice balcony. Several decent restaurants within walking distance, and even a free airport shuttle. I would gladly stay here again. Not the most luxurious place I've ever stayed, but I can't imagine finding anything with this much space, this close to the airport, and in the price range I paid. Very satisfied.

There is just one bed. The pullout couch = bed #2 and it is NOT comfortable. Kids wouldn't mind it, but don't expect an adult to like that bed.
