Great Experience at the Tradewinds
We had a 3 night stay at the Tradewinds in Feb. We are frequent visitors to the St. Pete area, but this was out first time there. From the very beginning the staff was wonderful - not just polite, but also very attentive and seemed very interested in you having the best experience possible. We were travelling with a 2 year old, which can be a struggle, but the Tradewinds is VERY family friendly, without feeling like an amusement park. Our daughter wasn't quite old enough yet - but there are many activities available for kids, both with their parents and some led by resort staff for the older kids. There are several restaurants on the resort ranging from sports bar to fancy italian. They were a little pricey, but based on the fact that you are paying resort prices and for convenience, that wasn't unexpected. I could go on an on about the amenities and the availability of activities for everyone - multiple pools, dedicated beach access, beach activities. The only downside that we experienced was that our room was quite small and had 2 double beds. that didn't work well for us particularly, but the room itself was nicely furnished and very clean. We are already planning a return trip to the Tradewinds - just next time we will call ahead and reserve a larger room! I will and already have recommended the Tradewinds resort to my friends and family.

In Hotel
Outside of you normal rates for the hotel, you are charged $35/day resort fee. This covers are the activities and amenities on the resort, from beach cabana rental to admittance to the fitness center - so you are paying for these things, take advantage of as much of the amenities as you can on the resort without leaving to do it elsewhere. Get the most out of the resort amenity fee.

Very Good
The hotel was very nice and the staff very good. The place was immaculately clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The only complaint I have is the other guests. It seemed that at least half of the guests had ugly tattoos. Why would a pretty girl defile her body by installing a permanent stain? Also, at the adult pool there were some inappropriate and embarrasing public displays of affection going on. I am in my late 50's and when I see people my age groping each other under water all I can thing of is"ick."

Short walk from hotel
Skidder's restaurant across the street is very good and reasonably priced. Beverly's is a good place for breakfast. Don't eat at Beef O'Brady's in the hotel. Overpriced with very poor food. Snapper's is very good but pricy.

Winter getaway
We left VT for a few days to spend Valentines and a birthday at the beach. We hoped for better weather, but it was a little chilly. I did get to take a dip in the Adult pool (since it's heated), we spent some time in the hot tub and walked the beach. The staff at the Tiki bar was very friendly and offered to take our picture. The only restaurant we ate at was the sports bar... my boyfriend may have gotten food poisoning from the fish, but not sure, so be careful! Loved the free parking, wifi and views.

We never had to leave the hotel. They have everything...beach towels, several pools, a waterslide, kid activities, sauna, hot tubs, bars, and restaurants. My five year old had a blast and so did I. Beautiful beach area! Made some friends, can't wait to go back!

Highly Recommended
My car actually got hit while parked in front as I was checking in. The staff could not have been more helpful and sympathetic. The manager bought us diner and gave us drink vouchers. The rest of the stay was great and there are not enough hours in the day to do all the amenities they offer. Overall A++ and when going back to St. Pete area will not stay anywhere else.
