A little sun time

My daughter and I went to St. Pete's to unwind for a few days. Having the hotel set right on the beach was great.. The water front was perfect, clean and water was just the right temperature, sand was wonderfully white. There were a number of restaurants and bars inside and outside, pool and beach side so we didn't have to get back in our car if we didn't want to. One night we did walk to a really nice seafood restaurant just two blocks down the road though.. Staff were very accommodating and friendly however the staff at one of the on site restaurants was rather clumsy and forgetful. The room was nothing special and it was on the small side, with two queen size beds taking up most of the space but we had a balcony, and a little kitchenette which we used all the time. I didn't care for the quality of the linens used and the pillows weren't fluffy down, not sure what they were but they could have been better. They had a pool just for adults which was nice since there were lots of families there. Lots of activities to keep children busy though and I never felt inconvenienced by anyone at any time. I would have liked to have seen staff on the beach willing to get me a drink but they were there only to set up cabanas or rent equipment. Overall though it was a good experience and we returned home feeling very relaxed.

Always go for a room with a kitchenette. If you are willing to make your own breakfast and lunch you'll save a bundle and be able to really splurge on great dinner experiences or more activities!

Fun and Relaxing Getaway

My husband and I just returned from a short anniversary getaway and had a wonderful time. The beaches were gorgeous, and we loved the cabanas...so relaxing!! Cocktails around the pool were fantastic and there was always plenty of chairs. We had everything we needed at the resort and didn't have to venture off to find good food, drinks or entertainment. The rooms were newly remodeled and clean, and the beds were comfortable!! Can't wait to go back!!

Relaxing

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, there was so much available on the grounds of the resort that rarely had to leave. the Cabanas for use of puests made finding a place on the beach easier. The weather had caused some problems with spending time on the beach because of the windy days during our stay but staying around the 5 pools made it easier to stay out of the wind pattern. We will be back.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

So many different places to eat in the neighborhood after you have partaked in the "on grounds" restaurants depending how far you want to travel but even short drives are even shorter than one might think.

Wonderful service, beautiful facilities

We loved the Tradewinds Island Grand. It was the best hotel on the whole barrier island and we checked out the others while we were there. The facility was beautiful, very clean, loved the lobby bathroom, and the staff always greeted you everytime they passed by. We would definately recommend this hotel over any of the others on the barrier island.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

The one tip I would give for anyone looking to save money on food, is to take the trolley ride to the Publix just a short drive away. The trolley is $4.50 for an all day pass. We also loved Crabby Bills nearby and several great sushi place, The Basil Leaf, and John's Pass was great for souvenir shopping.

Great family vacation

Though probably an even better spot for families with younger children, my daughters (ages 11 and 14) and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of activities on-site as well as easy access to other excursions. Hotel staff was very friendly.

Great Spring Break Trip

Our choice to fly into Tampa and stay on St. Pete beach was very random...and I have to say we had a great time. Booking the hotel and car rental together made this trip a good value. My kids are 7 and 9 and we spent 6 days at the Tradewinds for their spring break. The staff is very friendly and courteous...and they were quick to accomodate our requests. The room was nice and quiet...although we should have paid for the beach view. Although my kids didn't participate in many of the onsite kid activities...they did love the movies by the pool, the mini-golf and the singing pirate was super. This is a great location...you are right on the beach, but you are also within a quick drive of many other things to do. We like variety and don't typically repeat vacations to the same place...but my kids have asked if we can go there again.

When you check-in, ask for the list of restaurants in the area. Ask for recommendations based on your preferences. There are a lot of locally-owned restaurants that are easy to overlook. We ate breakfast in the town of Pass-a-grille our last day...it was awesome...only wish we had found the place earlier in our trip.
