Just a place to sleep
Hard to believe the tv was years old and I didn't know Directv offered only 10 stations, 3 of which were watchable! I am not sure if the cockroach was the welcoming committee or just someone's pet. If you turned up the window a/c beyond low, the noise was unbearable.

Nice location, not a good hotel.
I have stayed here three times over the last 4 months on business travel and each visit I have noticed more issues that have made me decide not to stay here again. While the location is nice the cleanliness of the hotel, parking issues and unfriendly staff has made it a place that I don't intend on visiting again. The towels were always dirty and stained, the beding has stains on them constantly and the house keeping staff did a poor job cleaning up the rooms. I have found a better hotel option in the same location that is comparative pricewise and is much nicer that I will be staying at on my future visits.

Two blocks west there is a great selection of restaurants and bars with many options. Watch out for the parking police, they are brutal and the parking tickets are $25-$50. There are a few parking garages near there that charge up to $6 for parking.

Small Room! My dorm room in college was bigger! Not worth the money! You can get a condo cheaper on the beach!

A great place to stay when you catch a Rays game.
We paid $99 total for our room. The hotel is historic, that's one reason we chose it. We didn't want to stay in an unremarkable chain. It has a lot of class. Things we liked about it were: It is only a block away from the free baseball game trolly. There is a restaurant and bar operated by the same company in the same building. Parking was only a corner away. The room had hardwood floors. The room was clean (no bedbugs or dust bunnies, no stains anywhere in the bathroom and the sheets were nice and clean and unstained), mostly quiet (we could hear people showering from someplace we guess was the room above us). The amenities mentioned (coffee maker, refrigerator, bathrobe-but only one) were there and in good working order. We got a room on the 2nd floor with a view of the street. Meh. What we didn't really like: The bed was a springless mattress set on a hard wooden platform. So it was very low to the floor and after a night of sleeping on it, we were a little sore. Only one bathrobe for a double occupancy. The shower was tiny, as was the bathroom. On the 2nd floor, the carpet was rather old looking, like it could really use to be steam cleaned. In all, I'd stay there again, but I'd inquire about a better bed.

Great location, ugly rooms...
The room wasn't cozy. The bed was very hard, the courtains didn't work, they have very old tvs and there wasn't hot water...

Great Location with friendly staff
I live on the FL east coast and wanted to see a Tampa Rays game and memorial day weekend the Indians were in town. We stayed at the Ponce because I liked the location and the price was right for the holiday weekend($100). I travel to NYC on business often so I am accustom to a small room and a $325 per night rate. It was also a hotel where you can park your car and not need it until you leave. When we checked in the staff was waiting for us since I booked two rooms and one with two beds for my brother his wife and 10 year old. The rooms were a little smaller than mid size but as expected and clean. Our rooms had a mid sized fridge and microwave while my brother's had a couch/murphy bed which was perfect for my 10yr old nephew. Before the game we walked to the pier and had nice causal lunch outside. The stadium is a little over a mile from the hotel however, one block away the city has a parking garage that has a free shuttle service to and from the stadium. After the game we went back to the pier and had a nice meal at the Columbia restaurant. For us it was a great three hour getaway to see a baseball game and have some good food with family. The Ponce is where I will stay again on my next visit to a Rays game.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
The pier has two nice restaurants -- Cha Cha coconuts which has outdoor setting and is casual and Columbia which is more upscale. The hotel Restaurant Ceviche (tapas style) is very good as well. In the hotel lobby you will find a local map that has listing of things to do – in here you will find a coupon for a free sangria. I only found this on my way out of town after we had several at the bar the night before.

Don't do it!
On line this hotel looked quaint, with a flare of the town since it wasn't a chain. After this, my second non-chain hotel in 5 monts, I wont book ever again with someone I don't know. There were stains on the blanket, sheets and towels. There was no room in the bathroom and the sink was only a basin. The hallways smelled awful (and others were commenting on this ... So it wasn't just my pregnant good sense of smell). If you didn't have the air conditioning unit (not central) on high, the smell entered your room. Upon telling them about the linens and asking that everything be changed including the blanket, when we got back the blanket was the same as was one of the stained towels I didn't use. On our way out a roach ran by us in the lobby stairs. We were so uncomfortable we left early not caring about the $100 plus dollars we threw out. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone! Overpriced and awful!

Happy choice
Friendly and helpful. Attractive neighborhood. Lovely inviting interior. No restaurant inside, but next to two excellent places for fine, different yet casual fare at reasonable prices. Walking distance to both business and to the new Dali Museum. I was delighted. It would be nice if the elevator were faster and if they had a vending machine for soda. But for these, I'd consider raising my rating to 5 stars. I hope my business takes me back again soon.
