Depending on price you pay, good value

The Tradewinds Sandpiper is a solid hotel with good service in a good location. Standard rooms are small and the air conditioning is very loud. We have staid in many hotels, but this unit was one of the loudest. The entire staff was very friendly and gave us good recommendations for restaurants in the area. We went over to the Tradewinds Island Grand a number of times for lunch and enjoyed it there even more. The cabanas on the beach are a must and are included in the daily resort fee - as was the parking. We staid here at a very reasonable price in April, but have seen higher prices during other times and wouldn't pay more. Would probably stay at the Island Grand for the same price, but thought during spring break it would be loud, crowded with lots of kids, but that wasn't the case. It just has more restaurants - including the Palm Court - and a nicer atmosphere.

Great 2 day stay

hotel was clean. Pipers patio was great for breakfast & lunch. Would have liked a lounge on site. Sand bar was good but service was a little slow. The beach was great! Would go again and would recomend it to people. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Price was also good.

Great Family Hotel

Traveled with family, nice facilities but was somewhat disappointed that this part of the resort was so cut off from the main resort. This is a great place for kids and families, some of the staff were not as friendly as other places that we have been but there were other staff members that were over the top, which made up for the ones that were lacking. Overall a good experience.

Nice hotel

There is a $25 per day hotel fee that includes the cost of parking, use of a cabana, use of the safe. This was a surprise to us. The Sandpiper has an adult only area that includes a pool and hot tub. Very nice. Most of the employees were really friendly. Food choices - The Sandpiper, which is part of Tradewinds, has a cafe that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was good just not alot of choices. The Tradewinds Island Grand located about a block down offeres a couple nicer restaurants and bar options.

Tradewinds Sandpiper Hotel & Suites

Even tough the room was just average, the staff was excellent. The hot water could have been hotter, the closet doors could have been more sturdy and not fallen off the track more than once, the room could have been a little wider given all the furniture, I still enjoyed the facility. They fixed any problems promptly and they were attentive to all of our requests. Nice people and excellent location made for an enjoyable vacation.

Snadpiper Hotel Good Value for the Money

The employees at this hotel are all very nice and take the time to say hello to each and every guest that passes them. The front desk and the concierge were both extremely helpful every time we had a question. There was a broad range of ages that stayed at the hotel from college-age kids, to couples, to families, to senior citizens. It was very quiet at night and noise from other guests was never a problem. The food did not appeal to us, but there are so many eating options in the area that is wasn't a problem at all.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

We went to the Fort Desoto Park that was about 10 minutes south of the hotel. We went kayaking and saw manatees, dolphins, and sting rays back in the quiet waters where the mangroves grow. If you like nature, this was very special and really made our trip this year.
