Nice Place
The hotel and rooms were very nice and clean. However, they were a bit pricey. For one "virgin" pina colada and a soda water it came to $11.00. Two bagels and 2 sm. coffee's $18.00. Definately need to eat off property if traveling with children.

Mini vacay
I had pretty good time at Guy Harvey Outpost. Overall, the staff was pretty good. They were always friendly and helpful. I only had one issue and that was an additional charge ($100) just to park on the property from Thursday to Sunday. There wasn't any mention of that at all until I got there and for the money one spends there, they should advertise their parking procedures ahead of time.

Short getaway to the beach
We chose this hotel because it was smaller than its sister hotel, Tradwinds. Much less crowded, less kids, and right on the beach. When we checked in, we found out that the room we booked had a view of the parking lot. We upgraded to a "gulf front" room that oringinally went for $404 a night for half of that price with the money we had already spent at booking. To us it seemed worth it since we had a horrible New England winter and wanted to see the beach! The room was nothing special. We could see the beach, but we also overlooked the HoJo's parking lot and their pool. A little disappointing. For $200 a night, I absolutely don't feel this room was worth it, let alone the going rate of $400! It was small, the "balcony" was tiny and the toilet ran CONSTATNTLY. But, for 3 nights we lived with it. The resort itself was clean and the staff was very nice. Food and drinks were good and of good value. We now wish we had spent the extra money used for "upgrade" to go to our tried and true resort in Fort Myers Beach. We did have a relaxing and memorable mini vacation, but I wish we had known about the room situation ahead of time. Not a good value at all.

Perfect quick get-away
Hotel right on the beach, adult only pool option, a variety of restaurants and bars between this hotel and it's "sister" located just up/down (?) the beach. (Staying at the Guy Harvey Outpost gives you access to everything at the Tradewinds Grand--blow-up, in-the-water playground of sorts; HUGE slide, bungee trampoline, paddle boats through the resort, etc.) The hotel was clean and up-to-date. Janet greeted us with incredible enthusiasm at 11:00 at night! She was SUPER friendly and helpful. We went to escape the cold in Maine, and this resort was everything we could have asked for.

Quiet and understated
We really liked the more intimate, quiet pace of this hotel, but with the resort fee can partake in all the fun activities at the other Trade Winds resort. We could leave the crazy and come back to our smaller hotel. Great views, everything you needed. Loved having the small kitchen and the daily happy hour. Even though their restaurant was small, the food was very good. It was a perfect location on a wonderful beach!

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium was a HUGE hit with our kids, especially since they had seen "Dolphin Tale" many times. The facility isn't super impressive, however for the up close and personal with the dolphins and seeing Winter, you couldn't beat it!

Perfect location
This is the second time we have stayed here. Both times we have stayed in the Tower or Gulf Suites building with full views of the Gulf of Mexico. The beach is simply lovely! Easy access to beach and and pools and Cafe. The rooms have been updated since our first visit (Sandpiper) and the food service has been much improved. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful... they were outstanding! The food in the Cafe was so good, we didn't have to go elsewhere. There was ongoing entertainment for the younger and more restless guests. We had come for the warm sun and the beach, and were perfectly content.

Ok beachfront hotel
The Guy Harvey outpost (formerly the Tradewinds Sandpiper resort) was a decent beachfront hotel in St Pete Beach. The staff was generally friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean. The pools are small with few chairs. If I were traveling with children that like to swim in the pool, I would choose a different hotel. The one seemingly minor thing that started to bother me after spending 6 nights at the hotel was the general hotel layout. For non-ocean front rooms (>75% of the rooms), the walkways to the rooms were outdoors, with the only windows in the room facing the walkway. Unless you wanted strangers peering in through your windows, you had to keep the curtains closed when you were in your room. $35 daily resort fee seems a bit steep. Other points: no transportation included from TPA. The hotel charges $65 each way for transportation. Cabana's on the beach are included , but it costs $15 for a front row cabana. They have a happy hour with free drinks for guests from 5p-6p daily. Bottom line: I think you could find a better hotel in St Pete Beach
