Great Beach Hotel
We stayed for 4 nights at the Grand Plaza. Excellent access to the beach. All staff were very friendly and helpful from the front desk, to the concierge, to the cleaning crew (we were impressed by all the people constantly washing windows, mopping up sand, etc.) and the waitstaff in the various restaurants. We had a room on the bay/city side. We overlooked the parking lot, but didn't mind because with the balcony door shut, there wasn't much street noise and the view of the bay was great. It was worth saving the extra $20 a night. The hotel room was clean and the maid service was excellent. The only complaint was noise at night (we had some spring breakers next to us), but what can you do when you go to Florida in March? Overall, great place to stay. Excellent drinks at Bongo's and great view from Spinners (revolving restaurant on top of the hotel). Would stay here again.

Short walk from hotel
Definitely would check out Crabby Bill's right next door. We ate dinner there and had excellent crab legs. The waitress was very helpful and made excellent recommendations. It was so good, we went back a second night to try out more of the menu and were not disappointed. Would highly recommend!

It was short get away
I went to the hotel and was surprised when I got a penthouse room. You can tell the hotel is older because there are literally mirrors every where. Very 1980's. The room was beautiful looked out to the water. The shower was a hot tub with a "shower head" but it was more of a rinser..tricky to use. The beds were comfortable and I had a it screen tv and a DVD player. The restaurant outside on the beach was awesome. Their coconut chicken skewers were delicious. Unfortunately I had to leave a day earlier then expected due to a family emergency and they wouldn't refund my unused night. Don't think I'd be visiting the hotel again.

Just bring your carry-on. Anything you might need like soap, shampoo, suntan lotion etc. etc. you can purchase at the dollar store right down the street. No need to bring all that extra stuff that makes you have to check your bag at the airport.

Every Single Staff was very kind and courteous. The Sunrise, Sunset on the Beach were just amazing. Poor customer service and rude supervisor ruined the hotel experience.
Called ahead before booking to hear more about the hotel before i booked it. Spoke to concierge who bragged about amenities that ended up being off limits due to a private party and also lied about a hotel discount. When i spoke to the supervisor about the misleading concierge she pretty much told me it wasn't her problem and was QUITE rude and snarky. The hotel itsel was nice, but the Tradewinds and Sirata are DEFINITELY more bang for your buck with much nicer staff.

Loud and old
The walls are paper thin and the hotel in general is in need of a modern upgrade. Nothing exciting. The floors have to go.

Relaxing extended weekend
This the second stay for me and my wife. We enjoyed the experience both times. The room had a great view of the gulf and the beautiful sunsets. The pool and a bar are located right on the beach. A sports bar is located within walking distance. There are other activities available, but we just wanted to relax. The only negative was the the on day when the hotel hosted six weddings (11/11/2011). Things got a bit hectic in the lobby.

Great vacation on St. Pete Beach!
We have stayed at this hotel before and absolutely love staying here as it's in a great location and right on the beach. The balcony views of the gulf and the amazing sunrise views of the bay are just the beginning of it all. There are no resort fees and parking is free. The bed was very comfy! All the staff were friendly and eager to assist us. The revolving rooftop restaurant has amazing views and is definitely worth checking out. There are restaurants, a grocery store, and liquor store within walking distance. Bongos Beach Bar had live music nightly and we could hear it from our own balcony. The bathroom is quite small but was always clean. We will definitely be back to this hotel when in the area again.

Verducci's Pizzeria is a short drive and a good place to eat. Choose take out and you've got a pizza for just over $10. Snapper's is right down the street from the hotel and is a nice place for seafood.
