Nicely remodeled historic hotel, obnoxious parking.
Hotel is nice. Only parking is valet. $12 a day and it may take 20-30 min or more just to get your car. If you need something from your car, they must get it, or bring the car so you can get your stuff, then they repark it. Public lotsare blocks away.

Super for Dali Museum excursion
Simple, clean and perfectly adequate, never tried extra amenties, but the perfect place to stay when visiting the fantastic Dali Museum. Hotel provides super punctual shuttle - no hassle to try and park your car on crowded parking lots. And the shuttle is back in a matterof minutes when called! all I wanted and needed!

Good choice
The hotel is very historic and interestingly renovated. Location is good and convenient. Free shuttle is nice. Valet parking is not free - $12/night (little high). Buffet breakfast is pretty good. Pool area was more like a sauna so we could not use.

In Hotel
Order a pizza from a nearby place rather than use the mini Market at the hotel... very limited items.

Mixed Emotions
Attended NCAA 2nd & 3rd round basketball tourney. Also enjoyed night life and beaches around the area including Treasure Island and Tampa. The hotel was well located and room nice. Exercise room options limited and kept far too warm. Keyless entry pad failed often. Breakfast buffet was very disappointing. With all the unemployed in the nation you think they could find someone to keep the coffee urn filled and bring water and juice to your table. This is the most disappointing aspect of the stay.

Good, quiet, nice historic renovation
The breakfasts (Continental free on Mondays, and a full breakfast with eggs and waffles $9.95 other days) are very bland. The bagels, for instance, taste like ordinary rolls -- not a real New York bagel! However, the rooms are large, modern, and comfortable. The WiFi works great, and there's lots of hot water and excellent customer adjustable central air and heating. Plus the the historic details that were retained -- such as the great tile floor in the lobby -- when Marriott renovated and added on to the original 1928 Hotel Pennsylvania are lovely. They updated the elevator's mechanicals, but kept the original elevator car -- which is nice -- but it's scuffed up and needs a new paint job The staff is pleasant and helpful. This is not a luxury hotel, or a hip boutique inn. It's not super-sophisticated, but it's a pretty nice, comfortable, friendly, unpretentious, and reasonably priced hotel in sleepy downtown St. Pete.

Hotel advertises a restaurant. It is only a breakfast which they say is free and then charges you. They don't even put an extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom!! Some of the staff is really friendly and helpful. BUT MOST are NOT. Never will stay there again

Great downtown location
This was the only downtown hotel I could find at a reasonable price that had queen beds (nice ones, too); all others had doubles or one king. It's a great remodel of the old Pennsylvania Hotel. The pool and hot tub are really nice. They have a complimentary shuttle to take you around the downtown area and the hotel is just a few blocks from the pier. I would definitely stay here again. The only downside is that restaurants are a few blocks away. The breakfast at the hotel is very nice, but there are no other restaurants right around the hotel.

Breakfast Extreme Bonus
The Breakfast deal was so good. Fresh Eggs made to order including great omelets with fresh spinach and made to order Belgium waffles with Hot syrup. I usually don't eat breakfast but this one is too good to pass up. We enjoyed being local to the St. Pete Pier for New Years Eve.
