Weekend away

Would recommend Mon, Jan 12, 2015
The hotel was better than expected. Too bad for us that the weather was so cold. It appeared that the management and staff of this hotel are really trying hard to give the best experience for the money that is possible, even though there is major remodelling going on. Would recommend to anyone.

More than we ever expected!

Would recommend Mon, Nov 17, 2014
This place is so clean and bright and refreshing! Got an upgrade to a one bedroom - separate bedroom with door and walk-in closet. Flat screen TV in bedroom and living room. Full size refrig, glass top stove, all kitchen utensils, including Farberware! View of bay and gulf (at sister resort) were fantastic. Hammocks on the private beach!! Mini-golf, fishing (day and night) wonderful pool. Could not ask for more - great 3-night 15th wedding anniversary celebration! Parking a little tricky, but takes very little from total experience.

Dining

Snappers was the best meal/experience we have ever had, really! Skidders for late breakfast (til 1pm on weekends) was just what we were looking for.

Clean and friendly

Would recommend Mon, Nov 17, 2014
Never never seen a place this clean and bright. Looked like nothing had ever been used before, including the suction bath mat. OK, so that sounds strange, but I know we have all seen the mold-encrusted bath mats - no cracks, no bugs, bed was heavenly. Walk in closet. Wonderful deck (and God ordered the perfect weather, also!)

Dining

Passe A Grille - Wharf - Authentic - seafood restaurant - reminds me of New England - wooden booths and floors, great overhead music - live performer on the deck in the evening. Calamari was incredible!

not so great

Would not recommend Wed, Oct 29, 2014
First of all, this motel is right on a busy road, even though the water is on the other side of the motel. Very noisy. Then, there are NO STAFF at this place. A sign on the office door said We had to walk about 1/3 mile down a busy road and cross heavy traffic on foot, to get to to hotel that you have to register at. Then, the same long walk back. If you want their "free" breakfast, you must again walk back to the other hotel. It would be nice to mention this MAJOR inconvenience on the website, as many people would not be able to walk that far (and parking is at a premium, so unreliable to drive down) The rooms are updated, cute and very clean, but the SMALLEST room I have ever seen in 50 yrs of travel. The bathroom is literally 3x3 feet, and only one small shelf for bath items. Nearly impossible for 2 people to try to use. It WAS nice to have a full-sized fridge and microwave to uses, and basic utensils. Finally, the fire alarm chirped every 15 seconds all night our last night. It was wired in, so removing the back-up battery did not stop the chirping. We did not sleep at all, even with ear plugs. My advice is to stay elsewhere, preferably not actually on St Pete Beach, which they think justified $125 a night for this place. A short drive over the causeway will take you to more reasonable places, where you actually can get a good value.

Great all around location

Would recommend Tue, Oct 14, 2014
Had a great experience at the bay palms. The location, staff and cleanliness couldn't have been better. The only inconvenience was that the office on site was not open and you had to go a little further down the block to check in/check out. Not far at all but hard to drag luggage down the street.
