The price was competitive, the location was good and the water pressure was amazing. That is about the extent of the positives for this motel. We checked in around 11pm and had to knock loudly and repeatedly on the lobby door to wake up the desk clerk. The room was small but appeared clean. The many windows let in a lot of light at night and the ac unit was very noisy. Although we had a king bed there were only two thin pillows and the bed was extremely hard. The amenities were limited to a soda machine and free coffee in the morning in the lobby. The pool was not open.

Needs Updating
We arrived late in the evening and had to knock loudly on the "lobby" door to wake up the desk clerk who lives at the property. The room was small and outdated, but clean. The many windows let in a lot of light at night and the ac unit was very noisy. Even though we had a king bed, there were only two pillows and the bed was extremely hard. One plus was the amazing water pressure. The pool was closed, there were no amenities more than a soda machine and free coffee in the morning.

PATRONS BEWARE!
My family and friends have frequented this same establishment over the last several years due to it's price, and no up front booking fees. However, during this time we have also recognized the sudden degredation in services. Particularly, this deals with the full time maintenance/housekeeper. My wife and I, as well as a family friend staying in another room, both found evidence of our belongings being tampered with while we were out of the room. Our floor was not vacuumed once during our 7 day stay, and our friend's bed was made once during the same time. She also found evidence of her sleep wear being tampered with, and the housekeeper called her to "see how she was settling in". This man is invasive, and does not do a quality job. It got to the point where she unplugged her room phone, and my wife and I never received a courtesy call. Also, our bathrooms were not cleaned during our stay though fresh towels were provided daily. There was also evidence that some premium liquor I can only purchase out of state had been tampered with as well. What's aggravating is that there is no central customer service contact for Scottish Inns as it is a franchised business. All we ask for is a clean room, and to be left alone otherwise on our vacations. Like I said, we have stayed here several times and it has progressively gotten worse to the point where I will be contacting the BBB. We also witnessed the desk manager seeming to go out of his way to be rude to prospective patrons. This was peculiar also, because there were times when my wife and I, and our friend were the only occupants in the entire establishment so one would be led to believe he needed to rent rooms! Be cautious if you stay here, and lock up your belongings!

Short walk from hotel
The Rain Tree is a great place to eat and is literally next door to this motel! It's a little pricey, but you will not be disappointed! Also, you are only a few blocks from all the ancient city has to offer!

New Years Fun
New Years fun
Lucky to have found a room considering reservation was made on New Years Eve for same day visit but might have stayed home. The location is quite appealing but the hotel itself is not. It is old and we will give credit to that. It was clean but I slept with one eye open. The towels and bed linens are prison issue. Staff was very nice. Hotel served its purpose for sleeping 5 hours but did not want to hang out too long.

A few days out of town...
It was good. We didn't expect to spend much time in our room, so why spend a lot on it. It didn't have a fridge, which we missed, but they upgraded us at no charge because vacancy was low. It was real close to downtown and all the other attractions. It was worth what we paid.

Nice people, nice location, not so clean
Location was great, but the Palmetto bugs thought the same thing. No pillows to speak of, unless you are used to a bag of rice. Pool closed early, but I will say it was quiet, but on vacation, you want to relax at your leisure. It really has potential.

Cheap Sleep
I was hesitant to stay here, after reading some of the reviews. However, I do realize some people expect a Hilton experience at every hotel they stay in, and then act insulted when it's not up to their standards. This hotel was quaint, and old...yes, that's true. We were in a non-smoking room, with a king size bed. The room did have a faint odor of previous years of smoking, but honestly, it was very minimal. The room was clean. The sheets were clean, and smelled clean. The bed was very comfortable. My best advice to you...if you are friends, or a couple, looking for a place to sleep and shower (and park)...DO IT! This hotel is PERFECT for people who want the dowtown experience for a very reasonable rate. Would I recommend this hotel for a family, or week long vacation? Probably not. Not many (any) amentities...no wi-fi, breakfast etc. They do have a pool, however But for a weekend or short getaway, I HIGHLY recommend the Scottish Inn on San Marco Drive. I will go back again next year on my weekend mini- cacay.

If you want an amazing breakfast, where the locals eat...take the Lions Bridge over to the beaches, and hit a little funky place called Cafe 11.

Hotel Review
Not horrible but not pleasant. Room reeks of cigarette smoke and humidity. Room had no micro, no frig, no working ice machine, no daily making of beds, etc. Best idea was from a prior review " bring your own pillows, pillow cases, blankets"
