Ocean Sands Beach Inn

I have never written a bad review, but I am writing this review to save some headaches for someone else. First of all,when we arrived, I was very disappointed because the hotel looked nothing like the deceiving pictures, both inside and out. The reason that we picked this hotel was because we thought it was beachfront, however the very busy highway made the walk to the beach extremely dangerous. There were so many rules posted throughout the hotel (ie, no using the ice machine for coolers, no using towels for the beach, no ashes on the balcony etc), we found this to be very unprofessional. To top off the entire trip, I was charged not only for our 2 night stay but also an additional $500 for a missing cable box! Do not make the mistake that we did, stay somewhere else!!

We had an enjoyable trip and stay. We stayed the second night with a balcony and it was wonderful to see the ocean view from the room.

For what I paid for the room I was satisfied, the people there were very nice. The room was a bit outdated but otherwise the place was very nice and for a good rate I would stay there again.

we were looking for a weekend at the beach, found ocean sands in a travel book. Gave it a try. Located across the street from the beach. The service people were very friendly. After checking out and getting home I realize I had left a small cosmetic bag there, called to see if they would send it to me. By sending them a self addressed large envelope they would send it to me. With that done I have waited and waited no bag. After many calls and different stories of saying it was sent or its on the desk. The last call was told the envelope never came. Bad customer service and for that reason I will no go back nor will I recomend this hotel to my friends and family. There are to many other hotels that will bend over backwares to serve you I think I will stay at one of them, after all thats what vacations are for.

Hotel is located across A1A from the beach, not ON the beach as we thought, but is an easy walk across the road. Only the top floor rooms have a view of the ocean and they cost more. The dining room is tiny, too small for the number of people all trying to get in there in the morning, but the food is good, and the staff keeps the whole place really clean. There are not really any other good affordable hotels nearby, especially not any on the beach, there are some farther south on A1A, south of the Bridge of Lions, but this one is only 2-3 miles from the old city and seems worth the price.

I called on Thursday May 12th to book a room for Saturday the 14th, upon arrival we were informed that our reservation was made for Friday the 13th. The man that I booked the room through spoke very little English and obviously mixed up the dates, no problem, mistakes happen, right? Well, we were also in formed that our credit card had been run for Friday night (the day BEFORE our reservation) and that it was too late to get a room for Sat because they were full. No attempt to accommodate us was made, [...] at the front desk was very unapologetic, and we left with no place to stay for my husbands birthday! Luckily there are a few other hotels, not motels, on that steet in Vilano Beach and we were able to secure lodging for the night. We called back Monday to speak to the manager/owner, I suppose, and he said, "well, all I can do is apologize" WRONG!!! What any other hotel would do in a situation such as this is reinburse for their mistake, discount another night, and/or upgrade to a better room. ZERO customer service! We will never go there again, and I sincerely suggest that none of you do either. They will only charge you for a room you don't stay in and not care one way or another if you, the customer, is satisfied! UNACCEPTABLE!

My sister and I (22 and 28 y/o) wanted a hotel that was close to the beach, but reasonably priced- and this place was just that! Honestly, there isn't anything within walking distance- but we didnt care. It's the sort of place where you go to do nothing! One or two days we were practically the only ones on the beach. It was really very lovely! The hotel itself isn't amazing, but I couldn't list anything wrong with it. For the price that I paid- I was very happy. If it weren't a 12 hour drive, I'd stay there again!

This is my second time at the Inn. It is perfect for a weekend getaway with private beach access. It's just far enough away from the touristy bustle of St. Augustine, but just a short drive to any of the local attractions. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. It's affordable and a good value.

I really liked this hotel, though there were a few issues. The location is great - just a road between the hotel and the beach. It was a really nice beach, private and clean; one of the better ones I have been to. The breakfast area was a bit small and got rather cramped with 10 or more people. There were a few people at breakfast that complained about the quality, but everyone in my party thought it was fine. The housekeeping was a bit sloppy - found a half bag of Doritos in the fridge - and the hotel's understanding of "beach towel" is a bit off - beach towels about half the size of the bath towels. Other reviewers had noted a smell to their room and I did notice that - it wasn't a bad smell, just kinda like there was a wet bathing suit somewhere. But the weather was great and after opening up the balcony for a hour or so, it went away.

It was nice the customer service was awesome
