The Quality Inn hotel in Sarasota, FL is conveniently located off of Interstate 75. Nearby attractions include world-famous Siesta Key Beach, Myakka State Park and the Ringling Museum of Art. Our location also makes it easy to take in a spring training game of the Baltimore Orioles, visit Selby Aquatic Center and the Nathan Benderson Rowing Facility or take a short drive to visit St. Armand's Circle. Our hotel is convenient to The Ringling College of Art and Design, which is ranked among the top 25 film schools in the U.S.

Decent

Not bad

The location is great since it is right near the thruway. Most employees were friendly. They were also very accommodating for my business needs. Rooms were clean.

Hold on to your Credit Card!

Used an online booking service to book 3 day vacation at hotel. Paid the full amount online with receipt and itinerary. $233.00 - printed out receipt. Got to the hotel - the manager at the front desk does not have a clue. He actually had no idea of what the cost or bill was for our stay - noting it was a contract between us and online service.. (first red flag) Check out time - the same clueless manager wanted to scan the credit card for some unknown reason. He printed a piece of paper (our receipt?), immediately ripped it in half and tossed it into the garbage can. Why print paper so you can rip it apart? (second red flag) We later found out at home that this manager placed not one, but TWO identical charges for $186 on our credit card - an item which we immediately called the card company to dispute. The mysterious paper which he ripped up must have shown the charges of $186 + $186 on the credit card - because this guy was not about the show us that paper if it had cost him his life. He just kept rambling on about the online service contract, etc. My question to this guy is: if our contract was with Othat online service, WHAT BUSINESS DO YOU HAVE ASKING FOR A CREDIT CARD TO SWIPE ON YOUR MACHINE?? That paper you ripped up - was that supposed to be our receipt? We never got any form of receipt or checkout paper confirming everything was paid in full. I never EVER came across such a situation as this before. A manager who has no clue as to the billing fee booked via the online service? Really? He had all of the OTHER information such as room size, number of guests, amount of days used. Right now we are fighting these extra charges placed by that manager on our credit card disputing it as FRAUD. If this hotel does not remove those charges, the Sarasota County Sheriff office will be brought into this when we file a criminal complaint. Every single hotel I check in - has an itemized billing of the amount that needs to be paid or has been paid - not this hotel. Every single hotel I have been in has a check out paper signed and dated as a receipt when I leave - not this hotel. This morning manager is an Indian, I think. Hold onto your credit cards when he shows up. Best yet - do not stay in this hotel at all. Save yourself the headaches of fraudulent charges being placed on your credit card, and the ongoing battle to have them removed.

Good and affordable

We were concerned that the prior ratings were mixed but our stay went fine. The breakfast area was clean and well organized/stocked, the room was comfortable and the general appearance of the hotel was fine. Seemed recently painted. Convenient to many things, very easy access off of 75.

Nothing good

This was the nastiest room i have ever stayed in. To begin with i was put in a smoking room when i asked for a non smoking room and when i asked to be moved they said there was nothing available despite an empty parking lot and a refund was not an option according to the front desk. As i was walking to my room the couple that was in the room next to me passed me in the hall and said we are not staying in this nasty place. When we got to the room there was food crumbs all over the place, there was a wet hand towel covered in some pink cleaning solution on the back of the toilet tank and the comforter had some mysterious black stain on it. I documented all of this with pictures and i will be forwarding them to the corporate office along with a letter explaining my dissatisfaction. I have never complained about a room before in my life and have never written a letter but i will be doing both this time. Please avoid at all costs.

Just not that great

Stayed there during my daughters swim meet, the hotel did not worth the money they are charging, front desc person wasn't helpful when I asked a question (my only) question regarding the facility I needed to go to next morning, breakfast was not good, sausage they served was actually still frozen in the middle and waffle maker was a mess... Sorry, would not recommend this place!

You get what you pay for!

We booked three rooms. Check in was a breeze. The table in our room was broken and leaning againt a wall. The televisions were so old, that the picture was almost impossible to see. The shower in one room did not work. The breakfast room was absolutely disgusting when we went down to eat. There was trash and syrup everywhere. Location was great and easy to find

My laptop was stolen and the management didn’t even care

I just stayed at the Comfort Inn recently, and I will never be going back. I stayed there because of price but it ended costing me more than $1000 in stolen property right out of my room. If you care about your safety or property don’t stay here. My laptop computer, IPod and some jackets were stolen from my room while I was out touring. The hotel is run down and dirty and I had noticed that our door did not shut well and did not lock unless you pulled until you heard the lock click. We were there 3 days and each day I pulled the door shut and made sure it was secure before leaving. The problem was the maid did not do this one day and when we returned from a day out we found our door open and several things stolen from the room. We reported this to the management, including the owner who was working at the time, and they did not seem to care at all. They told us there nothing they could do and said we could report this to the police if we wanted to. There was no apology or any feelings expressed which really bothered my wife. They also told us that this was very unusual and had not happened before. When we Sarasota Police officers came to make out the report they told us there were several incidents of theft, drugs and prostitution at this hotel and the ones surrounding it and told us we it would be better to avoid this area on out next trip. Aside from that experience and new found information about this being a high crime area the hotel is really run down. The room we had was dirty, the bathroom tub was pretty gross and our room had stained towels the first day so we had to request new ones, the carpet floor was sticky and you didn’t want to walk barefoot on it. The breakfast a fair but wasn’t kept very well stocked so you needed to get there early if you wanted to eat. I probably could put up with the filthy room and mediocre breakfast because the price was a little cheaper than other hotels but I will not being staying at this hotel in the future because I do not feel comfortable leaving my belongings in the room and I do not get the impression that the management or owner cared about our problem or had any intention of fixing it.

Very clean room

Unsatisfactory

We requested a non-smoking room and were given a smoking room. Motel management assigned blame for the situation on the booking agency. Hard to tell if the problem was with the booking agency or the management didn't care. We will use neither this booking agency nor Comfort Inn at any time in the future.
