Great location, average accommodations
We paid extra for a room w/Gulf view. It was okay, but a bit noisy given the family w/kids booked next door ( every jump, every ear-splitting squeal was audible). Also, our queen--sized bed needed to be replaced (sagged in the middle). Breakfast baskets were nice & the staff provides ample beach-side lounge chairs w/umbrellas, no reservations necessary. Our experience of Sanibel's recommended restaurants was a bit disappointing; high prices, mediocre food at all 6 of the establishments we visited. We were told Captiva offers better food, but parking there is impossible.

Aunt & Niece Getaway
First time at Seaside inn. Staff very friendly. Upon check in, we found ants in room. Front desk mentioned they were prevelent due to the large amount of rain and were given some Terro to place in a few areas. They disappeared and a few days later, the exterminator was seen spraying the rooms. Not too big of a deal as this is common in Florida. We found the bathroom needed a major cleaning. Shower was not working properly and the whole bathroom needed cleaner and a huge washrag and the place would have sparkled. When we mentioned the shower was not working that well, we had someone in fixing it right away the next morning. Pool and landscaping was very nice and clean. The location wasn't ideal as we were on Captiva almost everyday collecting shells. I would prefer to stay somewhere closer next time. This was a nice place to stay - staff was super, however I do think they need to spend a little more time in the cleaning department.

Pleasant and Simple
It was very island-like, nothing fancy but clean with a nice view of the courtyard, pool and patio area. We loved that we were only steps from he beach. Our review is basic because we only stayed for a quick overnight stay.

Great location, fabulous getaway for two
The staff was efficient and friendly. The rooms were lovely, comfortable, and just big enough. The hotel is on the beach and provides plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. They did not have to be reserved and there were always enough for everyone who wanted one. The hotel also provided bikes and kayaks. Every afternoon a basket of food for a continental breakfast would appear for the next day. That was a lovely, convenient touch. There were also dvds and books to check out of the office and a dvd player in the room. A free New York Times was available every morning. We spent most of our time on the beautiful beach or biking on the many bike pathes that seem to go everywhere. My only quible is that that we never received replacement shampoo after the first container was used up. We brought some of our own so we managed but this was an odd failing from an otherwise excellent housekeeping staff.

Wonderful place!!
I called ahead to make sure that I could get in my room by 12:30PM, and they had it all ready for me. The room was very clean, and comfortable. The breakfast basket they put in my room each night was way too much food for just one person, but was a nice touch. The hotel staff was kind and thoughful, including [...] the go to guy that made sure I had a replacement DVD remote! The pool was clean and warm. The beach area was nice and quiet, although the beach lounge chairs were somewhat beat up, with some bands missing. The hotel is near enough to all of the shopping and restaurants. I liked Rosies Deli on the end of E. Gulf dr, just minutes away, great sammies! The free bikes at the hotel were a nice touch. I would love to return to the Seaside Inn again sometime.

Right On the Beach!
We went to the beach everyday to play in the water and collect shells. I would have enjoyed my stay more if the hotel had a restaurant, we had to drive somewhere everytime we got hungry or wanted a snack. It was very secluded and cozy though!

I loved the Island Cow, it was good and not over priced like almost all the other places to eat. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner, cute place. I would also recommend Pinocchios for ice cream and Cheeburger Cheeburger for a good burger and shake :)

Great Vacation Stay
We chose this hotel based on the reviews and rating of a 4.5. We were not disappointed in the least; we received a great value for our vacation dollars. The staff was extremely friendly and generally would be very efficient at taking care of your needs. One of the least talked about values is the lounge chairs and umbrellas that are put out on the beach at 8a. Most other hotels charge big $$$ for this service. We utilized it EVERY day...just wish the maintenance people weren't so efficient to put things up at 5:45p. The breakfast baskets were MORE than sufficient; we ended up having leftovers and didnt even take the last day's basket. The room was clean, well-appointed and comfortable. We did tell hotel staff about a small tear in the corner of the screen of the patio door, as well as a small leak under the sink...really no big deals at all. The free bicycles were wonderful to have available. However, Seaside will have to replace their fleet, as they are going into serious disrepair. They truly only had three serviceable bikes; we offered to fix six bikes for a free night in return...still havent heard anything. The pool is just right with a great view of the gulf to boot. We definitely are considering returning to the Seaside next October as we felt we got a great value for the money. As for no restaurant/bar on the property, who cares??? It would be high priced and undervalued and would take away the charm of this place. If you are looking for a great value, friendly staff, a good clean functional room and a great beach, look no more.

The Mucky Duck on Captiva was WONDERFUL...and worth the short drive. Doc Ford's sucked...it isn't worth ANYTHING. The Sanibel Grill has great food, good sports on TV, and Matthew Asen. Can we say anything more?!

Nice quiet resort.
Stayed in a cottage which was spacious, clean and no bugs. Hotel is right on the beach and free beach chairs the hotel provides are nice. Breakfast basket, free internet and use of bikes is great. Had a great stay.
