Island getaway

I enjoyed my stay at The Sanibel Inn. It was not fancy, just fine for a reprieve from my ordinary life. I was surprised by the extra daily fee of $12 for beach umbrella, chairs, bikes, kayaks, newspaper. I really only wanted the umbrella and chairs. They need more of those! They run out too quickly.

A Sheller's Dream

This is a wonderful smaller hotel right on the beach. We have been going to Sanibel Island for the last 20+ years. Quite and quaint, this is one of the best places to stay on Sanibel. The rooms are clean and the service is great.

Nice stay at the Sanibel Inn

Right off the causeway sits the SI, with heated pool and beachfront and onsite restaurant. The free bikes were a great way to explore the lighthouse that was nearby as well as the other bikepaths thruout the island. Just get to the bikes early. Sandy in the SI office provided great restaurant suggestions and overall cheerfulness. Note that access to the rooms are via stairs. Loved the screened porches on the rooms. Nice grounds with fruit trees and staff was helpful and friendly. Get up early for the shelling. Rooms are small but adequate with TV, refrig& microwave. Sanibel is a beautiful island with protective ordinances against overdevelopment and it shows. There are nice neighborhoods but no highrises. Restaurants for all budgets are available a short distance from the hotel. The Darling Nature Reserve was incredible. Do take the tram tour to see various birds and wildlife, and to hear the history. I'm looking forward to another trip and I'd definitely stay at the Sanibel Inn.

Check out the Darling Nature Reserve where you can see nature in its glory on Sanibel. Do take the tram tour with a nature biologist who points out specific sights that you would miss on your own and provides historical insights.

Excellent Stay

This hotel provided a great place for a family vacation. The one-bedroom suite was spacious, comfortable and recently renovated. The mini-kitchen, complete with dishes and silverware, was extremely useful. Balcony was lovely, with a great view of the pool and beach beyond. The staff was friendly and helpful. Tennis courts were available and in great condition. The restaurant was very good; we had breakfast and dinner there, and it was tasty and well priced. The pool is lovely, and the beach is spectacular. And the free bikes are great. This is a low-key, quiet place - highly recommended.

greet for adults

We have had a room with two Queen size beds (They did sleep greet), with microwave, refrigerator, Ocean view and a screened balcony. It was there so quiet in the first half of November even the hotel was fully booked. We did like our stay there so much that we did go back at the and of our round trip to stay there again for a couple of days. What we did misses however was a foot rest. Because of the toll-bridge the island is very safe to stay.

loving Sanibel

The Sanibel Inn has a great location and beach. Good for long beach walks and shelling. There is a good restaurant on site and a beach bar at the pool. Bicycles were first come first served and there weren't very many, so we never got to ride one. They could use a lot more. But the pool and tennis courts were good and there were plenty of chairs on the beach for us to use. We were upgraded from a suite to a 2 bdrm condo due to overbooking but one downside to the condo was that there is apparently no sound insulation between units, and we could hear everything next to and above us. And the shouting outside by the housekeeping and maintenance staff made it impossible to take any afternoon siestas. That was pretty annoying.
