Girlfriend Getaway
We went to Sanibel for a kid free/hubby free getaway. The Holiday Inn had the best value & the best location (according to reviews). We were not disappointed! The pool & pool bar were great & the beach was amazing! We didn't rent a car, so it was important that we were close to restaurants, etc. We were able to walk or ride a bike to many different places & getting a cab to Captiva was very easy. We had everything we needed & then some. I will definitely return to the Holiday Inn in Sanibel in the future!

We went to Sanibel in February (during the week) and found that local bars & restaurants closed early. This did not affect us too much since we were there more for the beach & relaxation, but it's good to know in case you are looking for a happening nightlife location.

Affordable and Beautiful!
This was our third stay at the Sanibel Holiday Inn and it was wonderful. The only hotel chain on the island, it definitely doesn't look like your typical Holiday Inn--it has been decorated with the Island Look, from the coral/turquoise colors to the many cute fountains spread throughout the property. The rooms are standard motel rooms, with a frig, microwave, and cute Island Decor. The pool area is not spectacular, but just fine, with a great Tiki Bar and raised deck that gives you a view of the Gulf. The grounds are very nice, containing palm trees, hammocks, ping pong table, and lots of lounge chairs that you can take to the beach, which is only about 20 feet away! There is also a small lobby store which carries beach stuff, t-shirts, ice cream snacks, and some souvenirs, including very lovely, homemade beach bags and purses. I have bought one of these the last two times I stayed. Since there are so many great places to eat on the island, we usually don't eat at the on site restaurant, but it seemed to be occupied every night. You can rent bikes there, too, which is nice, since everyone bikes everywhere on the island. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a great value and great location. We definitely will be back!

The Jacaranda is the only place with live music, dancing and drinks on Sanibel, and it's fun, lively and worth checking out! The restaurant is very good, too.

Rooms were clean and nice. Close to shopping and dining. Beach was beautiful and hotel supplied plenty of beach chairs. The 18 hole golf course Beachveiw is in walking distance from the hotel. We loved the course and greens fees are discounted for staying at the hotel. Courtney's resturant next door has steaks and food that is better than most large city resturants. Thier motto is taht theyare the best kept secret on the island, and I agree. I don't think I have had better steaks. They also have the tiki bar at the pool and beach that is great.

Sheller's Dream
If you are looking for a reasonable priced hotel room on the beach for shelling this is the hotel for you. They do have a shell sink outside. The room is average but you spend little time in your room. The restaurant was very good. They have beach chairs and towels. The shelling is great!! Make sure you bring a good flashlight for shelling at night. If you are looking for a upscale hotel with a deck to sit out on this is not the place for you, if you are looking to shell and spend some time on the beach then this is the place for you!!!

Perfect getaway!
Super location on the beach! Relaxation is the norm here--whether it's swimming, shelling or watching the sunset. Great access to the ocean, bike paths through scenic back roads and nearby shopping and local restaurants. Staff very helpful and able to give advice on locality. Just a neat place to get away and experience a slower pace. Perfect island get-a-way!

Great Stay...and too Short....
Holiday Inn Sanibel was a great place to stay for my first time on the Island. Comfortable, clean, good location & good staff. I did not have enough time to enjoy the pool or tiki bar but they looked great. Spent a short amount of time on the beach chairs at sunset one evening which was so comfortable. I only wish I will be able to go back again for a longer stay (more than two nights). Note that this is not like your typical 'high-rise' Holiday Inn. It's two-floors and almost feels like you are at a Caribbean hideaway rather than at a corporate 'conglomerate' hotel. We'll be back - hopefully the same time next year (for a longer stay) but don't let anyone else know that this (early November) is the best time to visit.

Sanibel Pleasure
Spent most of the time on the beach. Holiday Inn provides lounge chairs but beach umbrellas would have been helpful. Rooms were "tropical" comfy and facility was very clean and updated. Sanibel is laid back with good restaurants and the beach is nice.
