Boaters getaway

Great hotel to spend time with the family with plenty to do. I brought my 21' boat down for some fishing and fun the marina was great, Jerry was very helpful with local knowledge and being able to keep the boat outside our room was a big plus also plenty of room on property to park the trailer they even have a helipad for the ... We will be back but make sure you stay in the Harbor side suites better view nicer rooms.

Quick Getaway

We stayed in the Harbor Suites 6/14/13 - 6/17/13 for a long weekend away. The room was nice & clean, the only criticism fro the room is the rugs were stained, many have said so & I have read a response from the resort stating they are replacing this summer (their slow season there). The only other complaint I have is that all 3 pools never had towels in the towel bins when we went swimming, we were able to grab some from the laundry room located near the pool by the guest check in though but it was annoying that the dirty towels were not taken & the bins refilled. I felt as though maybe they were not up to par on the small things because we stayed during the slow season?? The beach was not raked either & there was a rake there that looked like it was probably hooked to a 4 wheeler or similar to rake the baech but it wsnt used for the three days we stayed & the tide brought in a TON of seaweed and there was quite a few shells that would have been nice to have raked up so we could be barefoot. I also noticed dirty dishes and trash on the beach that was not cleaned up after two days...seems like they were just slack about that stuff but it was just a few items here & there and didn't make it disgusting or anything, just poorly maintained. We still walked the beach and had a nice time. I would highly recommend the Sunday brunch buffet if you are there on a Sunday, it was fantastic! I had traditional foods but my husband had crab legs and seafood and all the regular stuff too and we both thought everything was fresh & tasty. I would stay here again and hope we get a chance to do so. Hopefully next time we can go a little earlier in the year though as it was seriously hot & humid in early June. Last time we were there in March/April and found this place for dining, that's how we decided to stay there instead this trip was because we had visited the restaurant on our 2012 trip.

Short stay

Hotel needs new carpet it looks bad. The elevators stink horrible. Outdoor chair cushions ripped & mold smell. Bathroom light rusted. People partying in hall off and on all night long. Called front desk several times. No offer to compensate us at all.

In the Middle of Nowhere

If I would have known what I know now about Haborside Suites, I would never, ever have stayed there. The hotel is incredibly secluded and isolated, in a creepy way. You drive through miles and miles of trailer homes and run-down buildings before reaching the "resort". Know that the majority of people staying there are elderly retired individuals who are staying for weeks or even months. My boyfriend and I, both 24, felt very out-of-place and were discouraged that there was absolutely nothing around within a 30 mile radius. Do not be tricked into thinking you will have your own private beach, the beach is man-made and very small and not at all luxurious. The only positive was that the room was clean and nice. We had a kitchenette with dishes, robes, and lots of television channels (which is important when there is not entertainment in town). There is internet, but you must bring your own ethernet cord. That bed and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. The worst part of this experience was that in the very early morning while we were sleeping, the light above our bed turned on twice randomly. Due to the eeriness of the hotel and location, this was very creepy and unexplainable. The front desk was not helpful or understanding. After the light inexplicably turned on the second time, we had had enough of Haborside Suites and checked out immediately. The thought of this hotel gives me the creeps and unless you are over 65, stay away from Ruskin.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Save driving time and just stay in Siesta Key or St. Pete, since you will end up taking day trips there after you see the pathetic beach at the hotel and zero restaurants in town.
