Beware of unit A12 - Terrible!

We were assigned unit A12 on our recent trip and to say it was awful is an understatement. We rented a 1 bedroom with a loft that was supposed to sleep 6, but arrived to this unit to discover a rundown, shabby mess. What little furniture was in the unit was filthy, worn-out & broken. There was a small loveseat in the living area that was covered in stains & the foldaway bed inside was broken & unusable. The only other seating in the living area were two outdoor chairs with filthy cushions & a few barstools. No table whatsoever. The loft area did not have a staircase as the shown in the pictures, but rather a wooden ladder nailed to a wall. Even the young members in our group had trouble climbing up this ladder as it was falling apart & very dangerous. It was also impossible to carry any items, such as luggage, etc up the ladder. When we arrived the air conditioner was not working & the refrigerator would not cool. The ceiling fan squeaked & wobbled, the blinds were all broken & missing pieces. This was especially bothersome in the bedroom as the window is low & faces the walkway, so there was no privacy. The toilet would not flush & the water pressure from the shower was equivalent to a bathroom sink faucet at best. The mattress on the bed & pretty much everything in this unit was broken, worn, stained, dated & downright filthy. We could not tolerate even 24 hours in this unit it was so bad. It is ridiculous that RA even rents this unit, it is disgusting & the owner should be ashamed!!!

Great Location, Disappointing Service.

We stayed at Nautical Watch back in 2007 and had a great time. The location was perfect, it was on the far-east side of Thomas Drive, away from all the partying and craziness of PCB. The beach wasn't crowded, the room was great for the price. This time around, 3 yrs later, it wasn't as wonderful. The price seems so "low" because they charge you bogus fees once you arrive. $76 for cleaning, when there is no daily maid service, the sheets and towels you get in the beginning is all you get your entire trip, you're expected to wash and dry the towels yourself, wash and put up the dishes. So $76 for them to clean what?? They only gave us a day's worth of soaps for the laundry/dishes, so we were out that expense too (buying more soap). They also charged $300 for a refundable deposit. 3 years ago they held the fee and would only charge it if we left the room in bad shape. This time they charged that fee from the get-go, which put us out $300 of our spending money. Next, we paid extra for an ocean-view room. We were excited to have a beautiful, enjoyable view. Instead there was a construction platform right infront of our balcony, blocking most of our view. With tools and boards and nails all over (we have two small children, hello safety hazard!), and during the week the construction workers were out early, sawing and drilling and hammering from the crack of dawn. So we could forget trying to enjoy breakfast on the balcony or sleeping in. Plus the workers would smoke cigars and cigarettes right there, a foot from us. Inconsiderate. I paid $20/night extra for an ocean-view room, not a construction-view room. We were upset to see there was a beach chair/jet ski rental hut set up right outside the hotel, on the beach. 3 yrs ago it wasn't there and we had plenty of room on the beach. With these chairs/skis there, it took up most of the beach infront of the hotel, and once we found an open area, the lady running the hut snapped at us rudely, about how that was the area they bring the jet skis in at. So we had to hike up the beach to get a decent area... what's the point of having a beachside hotel when you have to walk a mile away from your hotel to enjoy the beach? We could have paid half the price to stay at a better-quality hotel (with better ammenities and daily maid service and everything) miles away from the beach. As much as I enjoy the location of these "condos", we will most likely NOT be staying here again. I noted the names of the other places near Nautical Watch so we can look into staying at those places next time (because we love that quiet end of Thomas Drive).

Nice and Friendly

Quiet end of the beach. Clean. Pretty much all families when we stayed. Lack of free wifi and inconvenient deposit (takes weeks to refund) are only disappointments.

I have to pay for what?!!!!!!

They charged a $50.00 cleanup fee, they charged $15.00 parking fee, then they made you put up $300. in case you trashed the room, or you could buy the insurance $45.95 nonrefundable. Thats $300. cash deposit refundable upon inspection of the room. Way to many hidden charges. Plus they had no clue that I even had made a booking for the room.

Fun in the sun

The location was nice, on the beach but away from the busy areas. The condo was OK, no bugs, but all the disclaimer information did not make you feel welcome. We did not spend much time in the condo, spent it on the beach, stores and Ship Wreck Island. Did not like the extra charges that were not stated before like the $50 cleaning fee and $10 registration. with these added costs, it would have been cheeper to stay in a Hotel with daily room service and towel service. Next time I'll stay in Destin or Orange Beach.

Horrible Check-in! 1 Day wasted!

Here is how our check-in went. We called the front deck at 3:30pm asking for directions ( we were already on the main strip).. she sent us East instead of West... after not finding the condos we called again... she sent us back West at 3:45pm (knowing we are on our way)... we get there at 4:15pm. We found a note on the door please drive to this hotel to check-in... Guess what? The hotel the note had us drive to was 45 minutes down the road where we then waited for over and hour in that line to be told we are too busy, your 3rd option is to do to this hotel to check-in for Nautica Watch... so we make the trip back west AGAIN!... and the 3rd option for checkin was RIGHT BESIDE Nautica Watch! We could've walked next door!!! So, instead of this being option 2, it was option 3! When it was all said and done.... we missed all the sunshine of day 1 and didn't get to check-on until after 8:30pm (5 hours after arriving!). Other than that... the bathroom was a little dirty. The view was great.... hotel staff horrible! Policies, horrible! Planning, horrible!

Good location but that's about it...

The Nautical Watch is right on the beach which is its best quality. We stayed there over Memorial Day weekend so it was more expensive then it usually is and definetly not worth the money! I would not stay there again.

Family oriented

To be honest I was very skeptical before we arrived. But when we got there, the whole experience was wonderful. The lady that checked us in was very pleasant and friendly. When we got in the room, I was very impressed. I was very clean and it had all the necessities of home. Very spacious. I have recommended this condo to all of my friends and family. We will definitely be staying there again.
