Nothing special

We chose the hotel based on price and proximity to Sea World. Upon arriving in Orlando, every hotel was in close proximity; the options were endless. In retrospect I would have stayed elsewhere. I didn't realize the hotel was a timeshare. It was clean, but overdue for a decor update. Our room was next to the pool...which stayed quite active until o'dark thirty in the morning (not great for those families planning early morning activities). The dining options on the resort were so spread out, we didn't bother staying for breakfast. I thought the price was great for a 4-star, but giving this resort 4-stars was being very generous.

Just ok

The location was great. The resort is large, and there is a lot of traffic. The pool was ok. The furniture is very old/outdated.

Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa

OK room, clean but not 4 star. Had to dodge the time share vacation pitch. Very big operation and could be noisy under right condition. Hard to find room because of size. Not much in nearby restaurants.

THIS IS A TIMESHARE PROPERTY!

The two biggest problems I had with this place was its size and the poor internet service. The property is huge and really spread out. Although they told me that they had a bus/shuttle service that ran a constant route, I never saw one. If internet service is important to you, do not stay at this property. They use a third party company for their internet service. They advertise Xtrem Highspeed Internet, but its as slow and frustrating as dialup. When I called to complain about the service, I was told that I would have to deal with the third party company. The hotel couldn't or wouldn't do anything to help me. Also, if you stay at this place do not ask for a room by one of the pools. The resort plays music at the pools from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm everyday. You can hear to clearly in you room with all the doors closed. That was very annoying. All in all, the property is just loud and noisy. However, the room was clean and reasonably priced at $92 per night. If you stay here, you must have a car, there is nothing in walking distance.

Westgate Lakes

It is very close to Disney. It smelled like cheap perfume. There was loud music at the pool late at night and when we called the front desk they told us the pool closes at 11:00 pm, but they would send somenone. The music continued.

Great Space, Weird Service

The room I enjoyed at this hotel was fantastic, probably larger than my first apartment. The whirlpool tub and general layout was great. It felt huge, and was incredibly restful. The bed was a bit hard, but nothing to complain about. If based solely on the room, it would be a solid 5 stars. Everyone that took care of me from a service standpoint was very professional and courteous, but some apparent management decisions tainted the stay from that aspect a bit. I came in at night after a day at Epcot. I was visibly worn out and beaten from the 100 degree heat that I'm unused to. Upon entry, I really just wanted to check-in and get to my room and pass out. In trying to seem more chic or "first-class", the hotel does a hand-on from front desk to registration, to amenity section, then finally to the luggage man to take you to the room (and show you the room waiting for a tip even when you tell him you've got your own luggage). The inability of the staff to see my frustration and expedite this process was annoying. If I'd arrived at 4pm, I might have had a different perspective, and of course I could have tried to subvert this process, but your key is always in someone else's hand! It was just weird, going through 5 people before you get to your room. I've stayed at actual "nice" hotels and it's never been that excessive. Then, I had an in-town friend come visit me on one day of my stay. She was stopped at the gate and could only enter once she'd given them my name (which should be enough, yes?) and then her state ID and license plate number. The entrance is also the entrance to a steakhouse, so I was curious if they do this to everyone, or if she fit a profile. It was just a bit much. On another funny/weird note. I had the do-not-disturb sign up, and unknown to me, the maid was waiting outside my villa until I removed it, then when I came out and did, she stopped me to change towels! So, all in all, it was honestly a great room and friendly staff, but there are policies in place that just seem abnormal and would keep me from returning.

Good price, but.....

The resort was just OK. The room was nice and the the service was great...until there was a group of like 12 young men in the parking lot at 2am. They were laughing and listening to loud music. We called the desk and then watched the security guard roll right past the guys and say nothing to them. The place was full of prom kids that were incredibly disruptive. I would not say that this is a great place for a family outing.

This is a HUGE hotel

This hotel is aimed at travelling families or people looking for a "resort" experience. I just wanted a room near the convention center, and would go elsewhere next time.
