ok not great

Check-in was really good and organized. Bellman for dropping off car very friendly. Room was fine with comfortable beds. Jake's restaurant ok after long day at Universal. Gift shop very limited food and drink; couldn't get ice cream for kids. Very long wait to get phone call answered at front desk.

Nice family getaway

Hotel check in was quick after finally being waited on. Stood at counter a couple minutes while Jade finished her personal conversation with another employee. Room was clean, shampoo never restocked during our stay. Hallways not very clean. Poolside dining service was very slow. We had previously stayed here and it was worth the expense. The stay this time was not worth the money. One very nice thing is the location, you can walk or take a five minute boat ride to City Walk and the Universal theme parks.

Worth it for the express pass, but nothing else is included.

Pros: Walking distance/water taxi to Universal, Express Pass included with stay, fancy place Cons: Nothing is complimentary - parking is $10/day per car, you have to pay to have WiFi in your room, and the only breakfast offered is at an expensive restaurant in the hotel Even though the rates are double what you would pay at other hotels in the area, staying here is worth it just for the Express passes. With 5 of us going to Universal over the course of 3 days, we saved almost $500 versus staying somewhere else and buying the passes directly from Universal (we only stayed 2 nights but received Express passes for 3 days). Just don't expect anything else to be included and be prepared to pay additional fees if you plan to park your car at the hotel or access the Internet in your room.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Each night you stay gets you Express passes to Universal for an additional day, which includes the day you check-in and the day you check-out. Example: 1 night stay = 2 days of Express passes.

Good experience doesn't live up to crushing price

While there weren't any major issues with our stay at the Royal Pacific at Universal Orlando, and being on-site at the park with express passes (received as part of the hotel stay) was a huge plus, I thought the hotel, overall, offered a rather ordinary experience for a huge price. As an example, a rather bland, low-quality breakfast of two egg-croissants and coffees ran us $27+. I could get a far superior breakfast for about $10 to $12 right near our home at a local breakfast diner. For 4/5 star prices, I expect a superior experience. It got to the point I wouldn't to do anything around the hotel for fear of the wallet-hoover... they definitely don't respect the fact that the middle classes work hard for those dollars and expect us to freely distribute them for under-value return. It could have been a good experience and the hotel, grounds and personnel were quite nice - but the crushing costs just to be there, on top of room costs, ruined it for me - I felt my dollar was very disrespected by the company. -Mark R.

Good stay overall

Hotel is beautiful, Rooms are average. Annoying that they will not allow you to check in before 4pm no matter what. That is really my only complaint, but it set the tone for our first of three nights at the hotel.

Just Okay

We were the only ones in line to check in when arriving at 8pm and even with many employees the process to check in was slow. Got to our room on the bottom floor and before even putting our luggage down we found a lizard in the room. My son tried to catch it but it climbed the chair and disappeared into the cushions. Called front desk and they said they would send someone to catch it. Waited over 20 minutes and no one came. Went to front desk and asked for a new room. Was told there were no more rooms available. After about 30 minutes they found a room. Too much time was wasted dealing with slow unhelpful hotel staff. Rooms okay but seemed to be a bit run down. No comparison to the moderate Disney resorts where the staff is outstanding and rooms are well kept.

Horror Nights Vacation

The hotel was nice. Had a lush tropical feel to it. Nice size rooms and a decent shower. The pillows sucked but other than that it was pretty much what you would expect from a nice hotel. The location is great for the Studios which are a convenient boat ride away that runs very often. We never waited long for the boat. Wi-fi was complimentary but slow. They had water in the room for $7.00 a bottle but did have a Keurig for coffee. So all depends on what is important to you. I was happy with my stay. I have no comments on the staff because I barely interacted with any other than checking in.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Universal opens earlier than an hour early for hotel guest. If you are going to Halloween horror nights you can stay in the park and get to the haunted houses earlier than the public and avoid the metal detectors at the main gate. This is a big plus because it get's packed. Thursday was worse than Friday for lines due to the cheaper Express Pass. They let the entire express line go before anyone buying an average ticket so if you want to get it all in I would advise either a Frequent Fear ticket or Fast Pass. (you get one for the regular park staying onsite but not for HHN.

No issues great beds

Pulled up to friendly valet who watched vehicle while we checked in. Room was ready upon check in at 2pm. Self parking lot a short easy walk and I felt the $18 parking fee was very reasonable. Standard room larger than studio villa at animal kingdom lodge and beds, pillows, furnishings, bedding a definite huge step up compared to disney deluxe property. Asked and was granted a 12:30 checkout which was nice for early IOA access. We didn't eat at hotel restaurants but did lay by the pool after checkout, ate lunch poolside with good food and service and very reasonable prices. There is a fitness center stocked with all necessities needed to get ready prior to late flight. Left hotel parking lot at 3:30 pm and had car rental turned in by 3:55 pm at airport. Don't forget to keep room key as its needed to exit parking lot. Cheeptickets with a discount code provided 20% savings but did not receive "you first " loyalty program credit for stay due to 3rd party site booking. Their version of pog juice is tasty and on offer in lobby area along with iced fruit flavored water in lobby and by pool. Definitely worth extra cost to stay here if trying to get everything done with no lines for US and IOA but even if this was not an option it's still a four star hotel vs disney deluxe property which has the excellent themed public areas but three star rooms.
