Convenient kid friendly hotel

We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of Cabana Bay. We stayed in the poolside suite for 4 days and on return we spent one night in the tower room. Both well almost brand new and were very clean. The decor of the hotel is in keeping with the 1950's and they did a really good job of keeping in that style. On the plus side - Bowling Alley, Arcade, Lazy River, Movies and a great fitness room. Down side staff is moderately helpful, except for the Hertz desk which was extremely helpful, there is only one hot tub which becomes a bit crowded. We would definitely stay here again if we were going to Universal.

Great vacation spot

We really enjoyed our stay here. There are several restaurants inside and we loved the food at the Bayliner. The decor is great and we liked the old classic cars outside. The kids really enjoyed the pool area which even includes a lazy river.

Dining tip: In Hotel

Most of the food is goo and reasonably priced. Makes you spend more money at the hotel because you don't have to get in the car and fight traffic and long waits at bad restaurants. Sandwiches and burgers are good. Frozen yogurt was very good. Stay away from scrambled eggs, they taste like powder. Pancake syrup was bad.

great value

We stayed at Cabana Bay for 3 nights. A few things I would like to review: Pros: early admission to Harry Potter, extremely efficient shuttle service, reasonable dining at the bay liner diner(cafeteria style dining w/ great choices for a family) lazy river and water slide. Cons: room walls very thin - can hear your neighbors conversations, coughs, toilet, etc. , there was a LARGE tour group of teenagers from Brazilian KONTIK tours. Majority of these teens were very rude and pushy and never saw a supervisor or chaperone with them. Also if you want to use a tube in lazy river - bring your own or buy one at poolside for $12+ tax.

Cabana Bay is perfect for a Universal Trip

We really loved staying at the Cabana Bay Resort. It was brand new and we loved the decor and the room setup. We had 5 adults in our party and the whole bathroom set up was great. The shuttle to and from Universal is the key to a great stay. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes and we never had to wait on it. Not having to navigate traffic to the park was the key to a tranquil experience. Oh, another perk was that we got to go to Harry Potter World one hour earlier than the public just by staying at the resort. That was terrific! We will definitely come back!

A Blast set in the Past!

Had a five day girl getaway with my 18 year old daughter and we enjoyed every minute of our time. Cabana Bay Beach Resort had everything including efficient shuttle service to City Walk and the parks. Our room (courtyard Thunderbird family suite) was extremely roomy for two adults. We loved the in room divider. When personal space was needed for dressing or when I needed to go to sleep and she wanted to watch t.v. and unwind a bit the living space and bed area became two separate rooms! Rooms were kept clean although towels weren't replaced everyday we never ran out completely. Loved the retro soaps! The pool area was both fun and relaxing. We both loved the "Diving Board" water feature. Did not try the poolside bar or the lobby Swizzle bar but we loved the refillable cups that we used at the food court and awesome bowling alley for the length of our stay. The food while not gourmet was tasty and fun. My daughter loved the retro tuna casserole! My favorite was the Turkey wrap with avocado sauce at the bowling alley. Can't forget to mention the yummy frozen yogurt sundae bar. Also I would like to note on one of the nights we went to a late movie premiere at City Walk and both the ride back on the Cabana Bay shuttle and on our walk back to our room at the resort felt very safe. Security was present and friendly at the hotel and made us both feel secure. Thank You!! Overall this is a super themed fun getaway that feels like a old fashioned vacation with all the modern amenities thrown in for ultimate comfort!!! Can't wait to bring the whole family.

close to Universal parks.

I now remember why I disliked the 60's hotels. A lot of walking to get to the loxpebby, restaurant, and bus stop. The food in the restaurant was awful and the same everyday. It was also expensive. The rooms were very small although they were redesigned for 6 people. 2 guest were fine, 3 would have been crowded. The plus side was the recreation areas and the pool. Transportation was excellent and the staff was excellent.
