Best location for Universal Parks

The Hard Rock is truly walking distance from both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. In fact it's so close that taking the water taxi to the studios would probably require the same amount of walking as just leaving from your room. It is quite easy to run back to your room for a nap or just a break. What you will not get a break from however is ludicrously high prices for most everything in the hotel ($7plus tax plus an 18% gratuity for a beer that I walked up to the bar and fetched myself). We ate at the Kitchen restaurant twice -- on Tuesday night we met Scooby Doo and Carl the Minion whilst eating. Our kids enjoyed the pool and water slide. All of the staff were friendly and our garden view room on floor 5 was surprisingly quiet. The room itself was clean but needed some paint and minor repairs -- for the price I found it just a bit dingey. Will definitely stay there again -- overall it is too convenient not to.

Best Place to Stay

In and out of the park in 5 minutes, sandy beach, excellent service by the pool. The rooms were comfortable and clean. I would come definitely come back to the Hard Rock Hotel. The food was very good. Loved sitting outside at The Kitchen. The only concern is that you cannot get around on a scooter without someone to open doors.

Well worth it!

Paid a little more to stay at the Hard Rock, Orlando, but it was worth it. Traveling with teens and they were delighted and impressed with the hotel. the express passes that came with the stay were incredible! The restaurant, The Kitchen, had great food and ambiance. I would definitely stay there again.

Sun instead of snow

Hard Rock was a great place to stay! I loved the pool & convenience of water taxis to City walk & theme parks. Emolios 4 coffee, ice cream, yogurt, fruit, water, And of course ice cream ...perfect. A little pricey, but Having the convenience great!!! Room service & all hotel staff& pool staff esp Robert were great. Why 3 stars for comfort....were the mattresses & pillows. Matteresses were lumpy & but still able to sleep. But room size great as well as storage. Would def recommend ! Best feature..never had to leave Universal- no driving or car needed. Would return for r&r. Never thought of going to Orlando, as cold weather getaway & not going to theme parks on resort but now I will! Also Palm Rest - my tuna was best ever & same for husband's filet- melt in mouth (his description).

Wonderful hospitality and great location

So glad we stayed here. Wonderful hospitality, everyone was so helpful in helping us get settled into our room on the club level of the hotel. We had a short stay, and only had one day at Universal Studios. Our bellman, Eggy, helped us up to our room showing us where everything was, and told us the best way to do Universal's 2 parks in one day. Express pass makes the expense of the hotel so worth it. We hardly ever waited in any lines. Big kudos to our friend Eggy for some great service!

One day in both parks. Go to Harry Pottter first thing in morning before park opens, do the rides and then get on over to Universal and do this park until mid afternoon. then head back to IOA and finish this park.

Very Pleasantly Surprised!

My husband and I went to Universal Studios for a quick winter getaway for our anniversary (and also because he had business down there at the beginning of the week so his airfare was free). I chose the Hard Rock due to it being the most central of the Universal on-site hotels and because the décor suited our tastes. We were pleasantly surprised by our stay. Firstly, the benefits of the early park entry and the Express pass cannot be stressed. It makes things so much easier and less time consuming and you feel like such a VIP being able to bypass the lines by taking the Express lines! The property is very well cared for and an easy walk to the theme parks or you can take a water ferry which also provides easy, quick access to the parks and the CityWalk where there are a number of restaurants and nightlife to choose from. The pool area is nice and we enjoyed the food at the poolside beach bar. I can be a bit of a food snob but their fish tacos were filled with huge pieces of freshly grilled Mahi...simply wonderful. But, the BEST thing about the Hard Rock was it's staff! We were really surprised at their hospitality. All the staff from the check-in, concierge and housekeeping (very nice and polite# to the pool-site staff, bartenders and, above all, the club level staff, were simply amazing. Always cheerful, polite and helpful. You really felt like they actually enjoyed their jobs and valued you as a customer. Unfortunately, my husband got a very bad cold right as we arrived and the club staff and housekeeping were so nice and helpful, getting us extra tea for our room; one man even made my husband green tea with lemon and honey...so nice! I would definitely splurge on a club level room...they really do make you feel like "Rock Royalty" #as the 7th floor is labeled in the elevator#. A generous continental breakfast is included plus afternoon snacks, evening hors d'oeuvres and beer, wine and champagne as well as dessert later in the evening. It saved us a ton of money on breakfast and drinks. But, unfortunately, we never made it to the Velvet Bar in the lobby because of this :# We were also fortunate to start our stay on the last Thursday of the month when they have a live band (usually someone you know# play in the lobby...which was fun...it is the hard Rock after all! The only negative for me was that, even thought it's the Hard Rock, there is rock music blaring everywhere...I thought it was a little constant and a little loud, especially in the hotel lobby. The music by the pool was great, though. Not too loud and a great choice of tunes for pool side lounging. I would definitely recommend this hotel and may even stay at future Hard Rock's due to our experience here.
