Universal Family Getaway

If your going to Universal this is a extremely convienent hotel. It is approxiamately a 2 block walking distance. The complimentry Fast Pass and early park entry was a great feature. If you do not have a fast pass you will be waiting on a long lines . Room was spacious, clean. I will definitely stay there again if I am going to Universal.

Great Universal Trip

This was the perfect hotel for this trip! It was within an easy, shaded 5-7 minute walk from the hotel to Universal Studios. Then if you don't want to walk back, they have guys on bikes that can ferry up to 4 ppl at a time and work only on tips or you can take the water taxi, which is free. The room was big enough to feel like you had enough room (we are a married couple so only 2 people in the room). The hotel had almost everything you would need for food, snacks, treats, etc so you didn't have to leave the hotel but most of it is pretty expensive. The pool was good and had a fun slide for the kids. The depth of the pool didnt get deeper than 4 feet, which was my only drawback. However, it could be seen as a positive for parents of younger kids. But it does have a really fun waterslide and music is playing underwater . Also, just a heads up that the parking is about $20 per day. I stayed at loews royal pacific last year. I liked the hotel and room better at Hard rock. But for the amenities for the pool for the kids and a deeper pool, I think I like the royal pacific better (except for the slide at hard rock)

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

If staying at universal for more than 4 days, call Universal to get the 14 day park to park pass. They don't advertise it on the website and for only a little more than the 4 day park to park pass (I think it's $20 more per ticket), you get 14 consecutive days of universal studios and islands of adventure PLUS wet n wild AND city walk pass. It's great especially if you go for a whole week.

Blown Away Again!

Went with Club Level this time. I can see where it would be a great value for people who hang out at the hotel or who come & go from the parks to their room but that's not us. We leave in the morning & stay gone all day so we didn't get to enjoy happy hour. We were also out at dinner for dessert so we missed that too. We should have made an effort to come back & check it out, but we didn't so....our loss. The continental breakfast was nice though. The cute lil lady working in the Club lounge kept trying to give us snacks & drinks in the afternoon, so nice right? Housekeeper on our floor was great, very friendly and warm. Check in was a breeze from "Biggs" the valet to the front desk folks to the bell guys....not an unfriendly face in the bunch. Bartender in Velvet Lounge, Skinny B---AWESOME! (Thanks for that Sangriatini, B!). He couldn't have been nicer or more inviting! We originally stayed here for the convenience & perks but we return time after time for the service & the way every single employee makes us feel....like we belong here and they're glad to see us. NICE job!!

Great Location!

The location of this hotel is awesome! Walking distance to Universal parts and City Walk! The pool was great! Plenty of room with lots of chairs. They even had a movie where we could sit in pool, sipping on a drink and watching the movie! Loved it!

Fun Weekend at Universal

Every member of the staff was outstanding. We traveled with two teenage boys and they had a wonderful time with no end of activities, both at the park and at the hotel. Wonderful amenities and location (within the grounds at Universal). The restaurant The Kitchen was also excellent and very accommodating for my gluten allergy.

The Hotel was nice but overpriced. The value came from the Universal Express passes. We were able to ride everything in a day at both parks.

Good location, otherwise very average

We stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Universal Theme Parks. With the hotels close proximity to the parks this worked very well. The rooms were tired and small, especially the bathrooms. We paid extra for a pool view which was hardly worth it. The pool area was very noisy and crowded all day which initially gave a great vibe but was wearing after a couple of days and not helpful to unwind after a busy day at the parks. The pool staff were very friendly and attentive. One day we visited the Royal Pacific which had a much nicer vibe and we would stay there if visiting again. After 4 days we moved to the Ritz Carlton which was superior in ever respect and cheaper too.

Best location for Universal Parks

The Hard Rock is truly walking distance from both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. In fact it's so close that taking the water taxi to the studios would probably require the same amount of walking as just leaving from your room. It is quite easy to run back to your room for a nap or just a break. What you will not get a break from however is ludicrously high prices for most everything in the hotel ($7plus tax plus an 18% gratuity for a beer that I walked up to the bar and fetched myself). We ate at the Kitchen restaurant twice -- on Tuesday night we met Scooby Doo and Carl the Minion whilst eating. Our kids enjoyed the pool and water slide. All of the staff were friendly and our garden view room on floor 5 was surprisingly quiet. The room itself was clean but needed some paint and minor repairs -- for the price I found it just a bit dingey. Will definitely stay there again -- overall it is too convenient not to.

Best Place to Stay

In and out of the park in 5 minutes, sandy beach, excellent service by the pool. The rooms were comfortable and clean. I would come definitely come back to the Hard Rock Hotel. The food was very good. Loved sitting outside at The Kitchen. The only concern is that you cannot get around on a scooter without someone to open doors.
