Great location. Were able to walk to dinner every night. MANY restaurants nearby. Quiet area. Close to our places of ... interest on this visit (Sea World, Discovery Cove, Wet and Wild). The pool and hot tub were awesome. Very clean and well maintained facility and VERY friendly staff. Even the maintenance staff and security staff were friendly, and never hesitant to say hello or offer a helping hand. I was walking to get ice one night, and the security guard saw me and said he'd go get it for me! I never even asked, he insisted. The only downers were: 1. The hotel is SO new that not a single cabbie knew of it by name. Eventually learned our lesson and started bringing a business card with the address. 2. The shuttle they offer to Seaworld, etc, is not this hotel's shuttle. It is shared by several hotels. The Point was the first stop. We boarded at 9:00 to go to Sea World. Did not arrive there until 9:50, and it is only a few miles away. Turns out, this shuttle had to stop at about 10 other hotels before going to Sea World. We were not expecting this. 3. This hotel is about 15-20 mins from the airport. It was about a $50 cab fare each way. When asked, hotel staff had no better alternatives to offer. I wish they had a shuttle to and from the airport. 4. Workout equipment needs to be updated. 1 of the 2 available treadmills was broken, the bike had a loose seat, and the leg part of the universal gym had an out of order sign on it. Solution to most of our problems - RENT A CAR NEXT TIME.

They charge resort fee for changing towels everyday. I thought that's ridiculous. I believe I prepaid like a package, but ... when I checked-out, one of their staff told me there is $11.25 per day for the regular service. They probably had it somewhere in SMALL words hiding in the contract. I think this is not reasonable.

Nice newer HOTEL, but the only "Resort" about the property is the $10.00+ a day "resort fee" that they hit you with on the ... way out. The other annoyance was the very few parking spots up near the entry. If you were not in early, or just lucky - you will find yourself walking about 100 yards plus. You gotta wonder if such a remote lot is secure from car break-ins?

Excellent Value! Great Property...
Wanderlust Nov 21, 2009
I just loved this place,a great value, especially good for an extended stay of a week or longer, feels like home...wonderful ... staff, would stay again. More of a condo/hotel than a traditional hotel...Maid service includes making bed and changing towels... it costs $15- per day extra for full service. The Lobby Cafe-which also provides room service was mediocre. The bed was comfortable overall but a bit too soft for my preference...Very quiet, I'm a light sleeper so I loved that.

When we arrived at the hotel at night we were a bit concerned as the hotel seems to be located in a desolated location; were ... we wrong! 5 minute drive takes us to enough stores and restaurants that keep us happy. The hotel is very clean and surprisingly well furnished; the room still has the new home smell. I am extremely picky about the cleaniness of hotel and this one definitely meets my standard. Mildew free bathroom, stain free carpet, smoke free room, full kitchen appliance, and spotless marble floor (in bathroom and kitchen areas) are some of the things I particularly enjoy about the hotel. We wish we had stayed longer than one night, as this would be an ideal place for an extended stay. We will definitely come back for future travels.

This hotel was amazing. We couldn't have asked for better. Super friendly staff. When we first checked in our hotel room ... wasn't what we thought but they upgraded us for free when we told them it was our honeymoon. Anything we needed when we called the front desk they had an answer. Absolutely WONDERFUL customer service. We will be staying there again for sure. Big thanks to the Pointe for being such a wonderful part of our honeymoon.

Great location for Universal
Former Orlando Resident Nov 5, 2009
The Point Orlando resort is in a great location in Orlando if you're looking to enjoy Universal Studios and Islands of ... Adventure which is what we were doing. It's also very close to I-4 which is the major highway in Orlando so it's very easy to travel to any other parts of town. We had a junior suite which was a nice size for the two of us and we had a mini kitchen with a small refrigerator and dishes and silverware, etc. which was great. Our room was on the fourth floor and overlooked the pool, which was beautiful and enjoyable with a hot tub also. The only negative we experienced was that the bed was not very comfortable. The mattress was highest in middle and if you were on your side facing the outside of the bed you felt like you were going to roll right out of it. Fortunately, they did provide a lot of pillows and I used an extra to sort of help the issue. The hotel was a great value and very nice but I would not say it was especially memorable. Also, watch out for the resort fees. It's about $10 per day of your stay and is not included in your online booked price.

There is a Publix supermarket a short drive from the hotel. We really took advantage of the fact that the room had a mini kitchen and fridge and stocked up on groceries on our first day. We saved a lot having cereal in the morning and by buying snacks and drinks that we could take with us in a bag in the park. Also, the hotel is about 2 blocks off International Drive which has every restaurant you can imagine so it's very accessible to all varieties of food, from fast food to fine dining.

Honeymoon Trip to Universal Parks
Midwestern Amusement Park Junkie Nov 3, 2009
We were given a first floor room facing the pool, and had the executive suite (living room, one bedroom, kitchen, bathroom.) ... We were very impressed with the size of the room for the money we paid. I was a bit hesitant to take a room so near the pool, but we didn't have any problems with noise during our stay. The maid service is a bit strange, but it is fully explained on a flier at check-in. They only replace towels, make the bed, and replace any used laundry soap, shampoo, etc. We only stayed 4 nights, so it was never an issue for us. Additional services can be requested for a fee. The shuttle to Universal only runs once per day, so we only used it once. It's about a $10 cab ride to Universal, so we did that the rest of the time. If you don't rent a car the hotel can feel a bit isolated, but the I-Ride trolley picks up in front of the hotel to take you to other spots along Universal Blvd and International Dr. The resort staff was very friendly and helpful. We had an easy check-in

The Point Orlando "Resort" is a fairly nice hotel at a good price. Staff was friendly. Room was clean and pretty good size. ... Drawbacks were the lack of a restaurant (sure, there's a coffee counter in the morning with stale muffins and supposedly a dinner selection after 8:00 pm, though I did not try it). It's a bit off even the off-the-track Universal Blvd. One jarring note was the $10.00 per night "resort fee" that I encountered upon check-in. [...] The room was worth it even in excess of the fee, it just felt a bit dishonest.
