Hotel yes, Resort no

Nice newer HOTEL, but the only "Resort" about the property is the $10.00+ a day "resort fee" that they hit you with on the ... way out. The other annoyance was the very few parking spots up near the entry. If you were not in early, or just lucky - you will find yourself walking about 100 yards plus. You gotta wonder if such a remote lot is secure from car break-ins?

Excellent Value! Great Property...

Wanderlust Nov 21, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

I just loved this place,a great value, especially good for an extended stay of a week or longer, feels like home...wonderful ... staff, would stay again. More of a condo/hotel than a traditional hotel...Maid service includes making bed and changing towels... it costs $15- per day extra for full service. The Lobby Cafe-which also provides room service was mediocre. The bed was comfortable overall but a bit too soft for my preference...Very quiet, I'm a light sleeper so I loved that.

Quick tips from our users

Dining tip, Short Drive

It would be best if you have your own vehicle; a 5 minute drive would take you to many shopping/dining choices as well as local attractions. The room has a virtually full kitchen that you can even cook a full meal.

Dining tip, Short Drive

Bonefish Grill is an excellent seafood restaurant. Had their clam chowder soup two nights in a row - it was the greatest!

--Desert Rats, Scottsdale, AZ Nov 16, 2009

Money savers tip, Short Drive

There is a Publix supermarket a short drive from the hotel. We really took advantage of the fact that the room had a mini kitchen and fridge and stocked up on groceries on our first day. We saved a lot having cereal in the morning and by buying snacks and drinks that we could take with us in a bag in the park. Also, the hotel is about 2 blocks off International Drive which has every restaurant you can imagine so it's very accessible to all varieties of food, from fast food to fine dining.

Quick tip

enjoyable stay

leap frog traveler Nov 18, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

When we arrived at the hotel at night we were a bit concerned as the hotel seems to be located in a desolated location; were ... we wrong! 5 minute drive takes us to enough stores and restaurants that keep us happy. The hotel is very clean and surprisingly well furnished; the room still has the new home smell. I am extremely picky about the cleaniness of hotel and this one definitely meets my standard. Mildew free bathroom, stain free carpet, smoke free room, full kitchen appliance, and spotless marble floor (in bathroom and kitchen areas) are some of the things I particularly enjoy about the hotel. We wish we had stayed longer than one night, as this would be an ideal place for an extended stay. We will definitely come back for future travels.

Amazing Experience

Florida Lovers Nov 10, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

This hotel was amazing. We couldn't have asked for better. Super friendly staff. When we first checked in our hotel room ... wasn't what we thought but they upgraded us for free when we told them it was our honeymoon. Anything we needed when we called the front desk they had an answer. Absolutely WONDERFUL customer service. We will be staying there again for sure. Big thanks to the Pointe for being such a wonderful part of our honeymoon.

Great location for Universal

Former Orlando Resident Nov 5, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The Point Orlando resort is in a great location in Orlando if you're looking to enjoy Universal Studios and Islands of ... Adventure which is what we were doing. It's also very close to I-4 which is the major highway in Orlando so it's very easy to travel to any other parts of town. We had a junior suite which was a nice size for the two of us and we had a mini kitchen with a small refrigerator and dishes and silverware, etc. which was great. Our room was on the fourth floor and overlooked the pool, which was beautiful and enjoyable with a hot tub also. The only negative we experienced was that the bed was not very comfortable. The mattress was highest in middle and if you were on your side facing the outside of the bed you felt like you were going to roll right out of it. Fortunately, they did provide a lot of pillows and I used an extra to sort of help the issue. The hotel was a great value and very nice but I would not say it was especially memorable. Also, watch out for the resort fees. It's about $10 per day of your stay and is not included in your online booked price.

Honeymoon Trip to Universal Parks

Midwestern Amusement Park Junkie Nov 3, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

We were given a first floor room facing the pool, and had the executive suite (living room, one bedroom, kitchen, bathroom.) ... We were very impressed with the size of the room for the money we paid. I was a bit hesitant to take a room so near the pool, but we didn't have any problems with noise during our stay. The maid service is a bit strange, but it is fully explained on a flier at check-in. They only replace towels, make the bed, and replace any used laundry soap, shampoo, etc. We only stayed 4 nights, so it was never an issue for us. Additional services can be requested for a fee. The shuttle to Universal only runs once per day, so we only used it once. It's about a $10 cab ride to Universal, so we did that the rest of the time. If you don't rent a car the hotel can feel a bit isolated, but the I-Ride trolley picks up in front of the hotel to take you to other spots along Universal Blvd and International Dr. The resort staff was very friendly and helpful. We had an easy check-in

Walgreens is at the corner of Universal Blvd and International Dr. They carry just about any travel essential you may have forgotten, as well as basic grocery staples, cosmetics, and first aid. We walked there at least once every day of our stay, and some days more.

Not really a resort.

bbb3b Oct 28, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The Point Orlando "Resort" is a fairly nice hotel at a good price. Staff was friendly. Room was clean and pretty good size. ... Drawbacks were the lack of a restaurant (sure, there's a coffee counter in the morning with stale muffins and supposedly a dinner selection after 8:00 pm, though I did not try it). It's a bit off even the off-the-track Universal Blvd. One jarring note was the $10.00 per night "resort fee" that I encountered upon check-in. [...] The room was worth it even in excess of the fee, it just felt a bit dishonest.

Great Room! Unflexible Management.

patocorona Oct 26, 2009

My wife and I went to Orlando for vacation; I'm a researcher and that's how I found The Point Resort. The rooms are new, ... great and spacious, new kitchen, bathrooms and washer/dryer. The hotel is quite and staff friendly, Free shuttles to Disney and Universal. Couple of downers though... our flight left at evening on our departure date and asked for a 2pm checkout, they just say NO without any consideration, had to checkout at noon. Be CAREFUL with asking for a Taxi at reception, if you don't ask for a yellow cab they will call a company partner with them, and even they charge a flat rate (no meter) they're more expensive, people at front desk should take care of their guest in those "spending less" matters. Not a positive thing. Its a nice hotel just watchout for those things.

The location was perfect, within ... minutes of the "Pointe" shops and restaurants, (a hot spot on International Drive) outlet malls and the theme parks. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel if you want a clean place to stay in a great location while spending most of your time outdoors enjoying the town!

Would recommend to a friend!

Very friendly check in, the room was fanstastic. We had 2 couples and wanted a room that was together but gave us privacy, ... this room was a 2 bedroom suite with seperate doors for privacy and we had a kitchen (which saved us on money with some meals as we did our owned breakfast each morning). It was about 5 minutes from Universals resort and about 15 minutes away from Disney World. We will definately stay hear again!

Shopping tip, Short Walk

Walgreens is at the corner of Universal Blvd and International Dr. They carry just about any travel essential you may have forgotten, as well as basic grocery staples, cosmetics, and first aid. We walked there at least once every day of our stay, and some days more.

Money savers tip, Short Drive

If you get a room with a full kitchen you will want to stock up on food - either by bus or by car (if you have one)at a local supermarket. This will save you lots of money if you are going to the area attractions!

Time savers tip

Be sure to get a GPS if you are NOT familiar with Orlando, it can get a little confusing when the streets run into each other with no visible signs.

Fantastic fresh fish/prime steak/chop house 1.5 block (can walk) away - Fish Bones. Husband had chops and they were fabulous. I had fresh sea bass and it was terrific as well.

Shopping tip, Short Drive

Just about ten minutes west on International Dr. You will come to the Premium outlets, a outlet store with unbeatable prices. Kenneth Cole, Banana Republic, Coach, Burberry, Dior, Armani, and much much more! Worst deal was 40% off, not everthing is this but if you look good its not hard to find great deals.
