Disney Getaway
Although the hotel was in the middle of construction there was still a great experience available. The poolside experience with bar, food and fire was great. There is free shuttles to disney parks which was perfect for me. Clean and comfortable. Very attentive.

Remodeling... Complete Mess!!
When we arrived they were remodeling the hotel, so most of it was close. It was dirty and stinky! The room didn't have safari theme at all and there were stains in the carpet and not as it seems to be in pics. Early in the morning there were lots of noises because of the construction.

Our Florida Experience
We arrived at the Sheraton Safari Hotel when it was named, "Sher on" because 2 letters in the lighted sign were not working. That should have been a clue as to what would come next. Our room looked fine and we settled in. As I walked barefoot to the bed, I found the carpet to be wet. Closer to the air conditioner it got really soggy. We pulled the bed skirts up to keep them from getting wet during the night and told the front desk about the situation 1st thing in the morning. Actually, morning came a little sooner than we expected, when the hydraulic lift platform rose outside our window with the beep-beep-beep alarm sound. The 2 missing letters were being repaired bright and early. We were given a different room with a dry carpet. After re-locating, we went to the lobby for a doughnut and coffee (neither of which were complimentary). They do serve a large buffet breakfast ($11.95pp), but we're light eaters and had no refrigerator in our room for left-overs, so didn't attempt that. The noise in the lobby was horrendous! The hotel is undergoing extensive rennovation and all the windows in one wing were being smashed to remove them. We took our doughnuts and returned to our room. Before we left to explore Universal Studios Adventure Island, there was an emergency evacuation of the entire hotel because a construction worker accidentally nicked a wire or something. The fire truck arrived and certified that everything was OK and we returned to our room. While the desk staff was accomodating and sympathetic about any inconvenience to us, it appears that these occurances are typical and part of their ordinary day. I had looked forward to splashing in the pool, but was told by another guest that the heaters had been turned off and the water was so chilly she couldn't stay in long. Oh, well... Our trip to the amusement park was great. The sun was out and we had a great day. We became accustomed to the construction noise in the hotel and learned to leave early and stay out all day. That's not hard to do in the Orlando area! there was a sign in the lobby that said we would receive some kind of "free nights" certificate good in 2012 because of the construction occuring during our stay. When we check out, there was no paperwork because our stay was pre-paid as part of a package. Consequently there was no certificate. It doesn't really matter, because I doubt we will be going back to Florida again next year. We live in Washington State and that's a long trip. I had expected better of a Sheraton brand name hotel. It was an OK experience, but I wouldn't recommend this as a vacation spot to relax in. It's just a sleeping place.

Embarrassment to the Sheraton brand!
I was very cautious with my stay at the Sheraton Safari Hotel. I went and saw the mixed reviews on here, and was hoping for the best. Well, it was NOT a good experience. I booked three rooms for 1 night (Saturday, June 4th). Myself and some friends were staying over near Disney. (We live in Orlando.) First, the parking situation. WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THAT! Are you kidding me? They asked me when I checked in if I had a car. Yes, I do. "We charge $6 a night for parking." I asked them if the lot is secure - it is not. I asked them if it is gated - it is not. I asked them if they give us a card to put in the windshield proving that we are staying there and paid for parking - they do not. I asked if they tow cars that are not parked there - the guy said "we really don't have a way of distinguishing who is staying at the hotel and who is just a guest". THEN WHY CHARGE FOR PARKING? WHAT A JOKE! The funny thing is, the only hotel in the ENTIRE Disney area that charges for parking is The Gaylord Palms, and that hotel is beautiful - this hotel is NOT. Even Disney does not charge for self-parking onsite. WHAT A JOKE. ***In speaking to people at the pool, they told me that they told the front desk they do NOT have a car. So, just tell them that you will not have a car parked at the hotel. You won't have to pay the rediculous parking fee. If they ever do start issuing papers to put in your window proving for parking, just park at the Country Inn next door or the Pizza Hut (which is connected to the hotel lot). There is NO REASON for a hotel to charge for parking in Orlando. That is just a way to make more money. What a joke. So, after checking in (the guy at the front desk was actually very friendly) - they told me I was in building 3, 5th floor. We drove around to building 3. I saw an open spot - and as I was getting ready to pull into it, I saw a room a/c laying in one of the parking spots. How nice. So, I found another spot. We were told you can use either side and there is an elevator. Well, I would suggest everyone avoid building 3 if you stay at this hotel. The one elevator is a service elevator, and it is connected to the laundry (which is in that building). It was dirty and dingy. Not a good start. We got to our rooms, and it was screaming 1980! I honestly don't think the hotel has undergone any type of renovation since then. It's an embarassment to the Sheraton brand name. It was ironic that the room keys say "Re-Discover Sheraton". As I wrote to Sheraton's headquarters, if that is rediscovering Sheraton, I will never step foot in another Sheraton for as long as I live. What a dump! The room does NOT have the "signature" Sheraton Sleeper beds. It didn't have nice linens, our bedspread was red and screamed 1980 or Motel 6. Cheap and ugly. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The television set was very old, and in desperate need of replacement. The shower head in the bathroom is so low you need to bend over to use the shower - WHAT? My companion took off his shoes and walked across the floor and noticed that the bottoms of his socks turned black. Literally. HOW GROSS. The floor seemed dirty and sticky. The other rooms that we had were no better, in fact they had different bedspreads. (I guess the hotel is a hodgepodge of bedspreads from over the years.) This hotel is a dump - I can't stress it enough. It might be nice if it was a MOTEL 6, but it is NO WAY a good representation of SHERATON in any way. They should be embarassed to have this as a part of their profile. It's worse than Four Points by Sheraton! The hotel manager consistantly says the hotel is undergoing renovations. There is NO SIGN of any type of renovation anywhere on the property. (The Manager has been talking up a multi-million dollar renovation for over a year on here. There has yet to be any work done on the renovation. I don't think it's happening.) If you are booking yourself in a hotel in Lake Buena Vista, stay at ANY HOTEL in the area other tha...

Unbeatable location but quite dirty
The hotel had a really excellent location since it is close to the Disney parks. However, the hotel was very dirty. Our first impression of the hotel was good but after careful review of the room, we found out it was a dirty location. The curtains looked as if they had been washed about 5 years ago. They also had holes in them as if insects were eating them. The carpet floor gave us the impression of being dirty the whole time. To make things worse, the last night we stayed there, we arrived from the parks at night and found out that the cleaning person had to go to the bathroom to do his/her necessities and left us a couple of gifts for us to see very clearly... Quite disgusting and leaves the hygiene of the entire hotel much to desire.

Accomodating!
The hotel staff demonstrated great customer service. As for the room accomodations, room was clean, well maintained, and spacious. Overall my stay was good. I must also add a couple of concerns: After seeing that the room doors were external and could be accessed directly from the parking lot, I was initially concerned with my security. After sharing my concerns with the guest service staff, I was moved to a higher floor which was satisfactory. Also, I was not too impressed with the responsiveness of room service. Each morning I called to place an order for coffee, the phone went unanswered after 10+ rings. After contacting guest services for assistance, I was immediately connected with a room service representative. In spite of these concerns, I would stay there again.
