Basic 101

The room had a good A/C and the sleeping part of the bed was good. We have stayed on many properties on Major Blvd. and this was the worst. Normally, I travel with my wife to visit our daughter and this area is close to her apartment. I would not stay her with my wife. The hotel smelt like a kennel and was just dated and dirty. When I went to sit on the beds edge to put my shoes on, i had a rusty coil stick into me. The A/C unit worked but the cover was missing on a 1/3 of it and you could see mold. Not for families...too trashy Staff was nice. No common areas.Breakfast area looked like hospital waiting room in a county hospital.

Hey Hey its the Highway!

Ok, let me first say that the staff here is just AWESOME! Very nice. Cleaning staff does a thorough job. GREAT LOCATION!! Keep in mind I stay in budget style hotels. Now for the bad stuff. I requested to the quietest room in the building because I am a light sleeper. The front desk they said they were able to accomodate the request. However, if that room was considered the quietest then I feel sorry for the rest of the hotel guests. The windows are pitiful and need to be replaced thus the highway noise was bad. The carpet in the room needs replaced it was fraying in several areas. The room had a musty smell as if it had been a smokers room at one point? The A/C unit was loud and very noisy (but did fade out the highway noise) and was extremely unpleasent. The room had two(2) queen beds to choose from. Both mattresses were wore out and the quality of sleep was ruined. The Washer/Dryer was very close to my room. There was a sign that indicated the hours of use however, many guests seemed to think the hours didn't apply to them and they used it. I did have to call the manager several nights and the staff on duty did make them stop using them. The hotel either needs to build a cage around it or have a separate power to them that can be SHUT OFF at 10pm, better yet a insulated room would be better (and there is ample space for this to be built). Hotel needs a little work and would be considered a great deal. t stay there.

Just Fine

Rooms were clean and even had a flat screen. Its a little outdated but perfect for a couple of nights. I would have no problem staying there again. Small breakfast area but what more do you want for <$40/night

Well located and friendly hotel

We stayed for three nights at this hotel. It was located very close to Universal Studios, which is about a 15 minute walk away or there is a free shuttle bus there and back. There are lots of restaurants etc nearby and it is very close to the main highway. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel provides a free breakfast, which is quite good considering it is free. The room is basic but provides everything needed especially if you're planning day trips to the theme parks etc. We'd also recommend the Kennedy Space Centre as a great day out.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

There's a very good supermarket called Whole Foods which is nearby. It also sells ready-made and hot food, which is pretty good and very convenient.

Location, location..oh, and the room...

My boyfriend and I went to Orlando this particular time for a show at night. Now, I went into this knowing that this couldn't be a "steal" because it is a $60 room right across from Universal, which is irrelevant because the show was 15 minutes away. Anyways, this hotel was in a great location if you are going to the outlets or Universal theme parks. Front desk staff was nice. There was no kitchen area, just a small room with a few tables and a counter top with a coffeemaker. So we went up to the room and as soon as we stepped off of the elevator, the overwhelming smell of vomit smothered you in the hallway. I have to say, I don't want to be mean, but it was really disgusting. We hurried into the room and flipped the light switch outside the bathroom..but it wasn't connected to any light! There were 3 other lamps in the room and only 1 was working. I guess you could call it mood lighting if you want. So I basically had to iron my clothes in the dark. Speaking of clothes, there were black hairs in my new towels. ew. Also, the bathroom door didn't close properly, the locks on the room door were a little shakey and didn't make me feel too safe. There was also a giant white paint spot like they had caulked a huge hole in the wall next to the bed. Not so attractive. The hotel was quiet though, so I don't know why they put us in the worst room. In other words, if its ONLY ONE night, and you are literally just sleeping there and not spending any time in the room and things are tight, gooo ahead. As for me, once is enough.

Great location but...

The location of this hotel was great. However...the place needs some TLC and some better housekeeping staff. Our room was clean enough but the beds were pretty uncomfortable. Carpet was ripped in a couple of places. There was NEVER enough hot water in the shower even though there were just 3 of us and we all showered quickly. The breakfast area in the lobby was very tiny and had a pretty small selection (especially in comparison the hotel right next door, which I was told has the same owner) What bothered me the most though was the housekeeping staff. Several times they entered our room WITHOUT KNOCKING to see if someone was in there. Isn't that just basic courtesy 101? The one time the housekeeper attempted to enter and we had the top deadbolt lock - I had to fiddle with the door for a while to get it to even open again (the top lock looked like it had seen better days and was already half busted) I understand this room was discounted and I take that into consideration, but I would rather pay a little more next time and stay in a hotel that is better taken care of. Wouldn't recommend or stay here again.

Extremely close to Universal Studios...you could walk if you wanted. Also lots of food options and less than a 5 minute drive from International Drive, where EVERYTHING is.

convenient to Universal Studios

Not the most updated hotel, and they did give us a handicap room despite the fact we booked weeks in advance - bathroom facilities were hard for me to utilize...very TALL for the commode and very short for the shower!....breakfast was overrated...just some toast and cereal with waffles that were almost gone by 8 a.m. But it was close to Universal, so we walked to the studios for a day of fun. (We took the shuttle back to the hotel! Too tired to walk!) Friendly service and clean rooms. Heater smelled funny and set off smoke alarm, but it was attended to quickly!
