Fabulous and Frustrating

Very contemporary interiors, well curated contemporary art collection, nice rooms, quiet, good service, great location. However, food and drink prices are astronomical--pegged clearly to the many European visitors who get much more value for their Euro than Americans do for their dollar.

Great Hotel

This hotel is very classy. The staff is a bit slow but they are very friendly. The check in time is a little bit late so if you are planning to get there earlier than your check in, be prepared because chances are they will not give you the room earlier. I loved my stay in the beach, too bad the chairs and umbrellas are not included to the amenities and you had to pay for them. Other than that, my boyfriend and I loved our stay...

Sagamore

The Hotel itself is nice, but the service was severely lacking. They initially checked us in to a room that was already occupied by other guests. We went to our room and someone else's stuff was already there. Then the same thing happened to our friends, except they were already in their room when a random guy opened the door around midnight because the front desk had made another error. The workout facilities consist of two treadmills and a stairmaster. But both treadmills were out of order. For some reason, housekeeping refused to leave us towels. We had to call everyday to ask them to bring some up for us. The hotel itself and the rooms are nice and the location is great, but the service was terrible. We'll stay somewhere else next time.

Downtime

Hotel was very nice. Drinks were very expensive at the pool and their food chooses were limited. I'm not sure if it was just an off week, but very little activity, outside bar closed early and inside bar seemed to never be staffed or open. They were filming a movie while we had our stay and as it may seem interesting, it really isn't. You felt like you were in the way and it wasn't really nice to have tons of people walking around hotel and the pool while you are trying to relax.

weekend away

We were looking for a weekend get away and after booking the hotel we came across some reviews that weren't so great so needless to say I was nervous when we were checking in. We had an early flight and we were able to check-in our bags and walk around the town. They called us at 1pm to let us know our room was ready which I was amazed since check-in wasn't until 3pm. However when we went to get the keys to the room they had us down for the wrong type of room. Make sure you check that so you get what you paid for!! We had no problem after I showed the front desk my reservation that I printed off that listed the type of room we had paid for. The room was very nice but you could tell that the furnishings had been there a little while but it was still very clean and nice. The pool was nice but a little small and there were not many chairs so you need to go early to get one. And also be aware that if you go to the beach there is a fee for the beach chairs. On Sunday while at the beach we were unaware of a hugh pool party going on at our pool. I guess it happens every Sunday through June 28th. It was a lot of people, a lot of drinking, a lot of dancing and a great time! If you are looking for a quiet trip make sure you don't stay on a sunday. The location was great. We were in a less busy part but a short walk to all the bars, cafes and shopping. The outdoor Lincoln Mall was right down the street and is great place to go! Overall it was a great trip and I would definitely going again.

Great hotel; immature clientele

The hotel itself was great, and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful (including a couple of great bartenders). The location is fantastic. The one drawback for me was some of the other guests. The hotel seems to cater to a younger, partygoing sort of crowd, which meant we were woken two nights in a row at 3 am by the drunken girls staying next door. The poolside bar, also, was quite a scene. If that's what you're looking for, you'll like this place. However, if you like relaxation and prefer a more mature demographic, try the Ritz next door.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Choose the Sagamore Plan when you check in. It's gets you the continental breakfast and a chair/towels every day, cheaper than paying the $15 when you're on the beach.

Great Pool Area!

The hotel staff was initially very courteous, giving us complimentary drinks and a complimentary brunch on Mother's Day while we waited for our room to become available (we had arrived at 1230 and check-in is at 1500). However, the restaurant manager did not believe the voucher for the brunch and made us prove it by making us go to the front desk or just pay. The hotel atmosphere was very sleek, modern, great contemporary art collection, with hip lounge music playing. The pool area is fantastic! Great atmosphere, great service preparing lounge chairs, great music! Very relaxing! There were several things overlooked in the room: very dusty vents, pencil markings from prior construction everywhere, scratchy robes, broken lamps, etc...

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Wait until sunset to go out for long walks and dinner, then try the restaurants along ocean drive: FoxCafe was delicious and reasonably priced! Most places have gimmicks to fill their tables and make their restaurant look good. e.g. we got free shots, 2-4-1's and 20% off food at a place because their patio wasn't full. Also, enjoy a walk on the beach after sunset; best temperatures of the day! Bal Harbour mall is the BEST place for designer shopping!

Relaxing vacation

My sisters and I stayed at the Sagamore in July. The suite was spacious, quite, clean and ideal for the three of us. We had a view of the street and enjoyed people watching. We were amused by the lobby decor. The morning breakfast had a lot of variety to suit all of our different needs and taste. I particularly like the freshly maded omlette. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel!

The Sagamore was close to the beach, stores and restaurants. We did not have to walk very far to see the sites that we were looking forward to seeing.
