This intimate, Art Deco original is near all the best of South Beach

The Richmond bills itself as "Miami Beach's friendliest hotel." The same family has operated the business since it opened its doors in 1941, and the 92-room property is a local favorite. The oceanfront hotel and its neon-flooded exterior and original terrazzo floors fit in with its Art Deco neighbors. South Beach clubs, restaurants and shops are only a stroll away. Lush greenery delivers a sense of Hollywood glamour.

Highlights
  • Family-run Art Deco hotel
  • Beach path
  • Within walking distance to Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road and Collins Avenue
  • Heated outdoor pool surrounded by lush gardens
  • Rooftop terrace and heated half moon spa and coconut palm patio
Rooms

Room decor throws nods to old-world Florida with the vintage postcard-type framed prints and palm printed curtains as focal points. Look for retro details, too, such as Art Deco floor lamps, seafoam- and black-colored tile bathrooms, a 1930s-inspired clock, blond oak headboards and accent pieces. In case of a rain shower, which is common in South Florida, grab the red umbrella in the closet. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet can be accessed for an additional charge.

Features

The Richmond's boutique identity adds to its intimacy. Nice touches include a cement path leading to a wood boardwalk and a half-moon spa tub strategically placed in front of a winding stream. On the rooftop terrace and solarium, take in the neon lights from South Beach.  An on-site cafe serves breakfast until mid-afternoon, and by night, guests can sip cocktails on the front porch.

stayed one night

Staff was friendly, Rooms were outdated. For the value it was nice but the pool area and restaurant left something to be desired. Was not impressed. i probably would have spent the extra money to stay elsewhere

Good price & location - basic

I arrived couple hours before the 4pm check in but luckly the room was ready, also they have somewhere to store luggage on the check out day. The walls are very thin!! Was going to say air conditioning was noisy but in end was glad as drowed out some of the noise from the next door room. (There was a connecting door that was locked, heard everything). Nice to have a pool with loungers for a chilled & direct access onto the beach. Had breakfast one day, pretty basic but good. Ended up going to the (24hr) cafe/restaurant/bar across the road for brunches instead. Though thing to note that this & the pool closes at 7pm. It's a very quiet hotel, suppose good to get away from it all when you hear the next door ones down the road. Good location and good walking to everywhere from here. Good for what you pay for.

beachfront bliss

Let me start with the less than 5 stars. The wall are very thin. You can hear everything from your neighbors, but with very minimal time spent in the room it was acceptable. The staff (front, pool, kitchen) were amazing. They were not only helpful but fun. The beach is right out the back gate and the property is beautiful. Location is prefect, 2 blocks to Lincoln Ave and a plethora of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance and bus stop is also right out front. I added two extra nights to my stay, I enjoyed the hotel and staff that much !! Will stay again without question !! Excellent hotel for the price !!

Staying for the location

Pretty bare bones hotel, but in a great location. Nice pool. Location right on the beach side of the road and in the center of everything South Beach. Comfy bed and room was clean. Staff was super friendly and prompt. Paper thin walls (at least on the first floor.) That meant all noises next door at all hours and even through the vents above. If it wasn't for the fact I had an early flight and the room next door was partying all night, probably not a big deal - but worth noting. Probably could avoid that by specifically asking for a higher floor room and one that doesn't adjoin. For what we were looking for in our price range - not a bad little hotel with basic rooms and amenities.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel has no vending machines - so bring your own waters and use the fridge (if your room has one.) Mine did, the people I traveled with did not.

Great Price/Quality

Great location, heated pool and JACUZZI. Direct access to the beach- so you can eat breakfast on the terrace and take coffe to the beach. No beach chairs provided!!!! So if you want a lounge chair on the beach- you have to pay for it directly to the beach staff.

For a not so pleasant stay

The bathroom was rather outdated shabby and not really clean. Nowadays I expecct from a Hotel like this free WiFi...The whole Hotel needs some updating. The Cocktails and the food is also not the best. The location is pretty good though.

good price good location

This hotel was in a great spot off collins. 18th and collins to be exact. Only about 4 blocks from ocean drive, close to lincoln mall and minutes from anything you need (on foot). The room and hotel were a great value. The only minor downfall was the refrigerator was struggling to keep anything cool. My friend had a room down the hall and his worked fine. Other than that, the art deco feel, hotel access to the beach, right on collins, and right priced. This hotel is a great pick for someone who is coming to enjoy the south beach night life. The rooms are small for a family but an individual or couples getaway its great.

Bring your earplugs

Location of the hotel is right on the beach, however, be warned the tiny rooms have thin walls. You will hear every word spoken your neighbor's room and from anyone that walks past your room. The cold-water faucet in my shower didn't work and, so, had to endure scalding hot showers (guess the opposite would've been worse). Staff were pleasant, and the valets were very helpful. For the high prices they charged for the room, I was shocked wifi access was extra. Kept wishing I was at one of the nicer hotels on either side of this one, which would've been worth the few extra $ I saved staying here.

Bad receptivos service

The biggest problems this hotel are: 1) the service and the reception that was so bad, 2) there is no orientation and no information in the room about the use of the phone and internet 3) that the internet service is not available.
