Wonderful getaway

I took my husband to The Palms for his birthday and we were not disappointed even though it was expensive. Although the location was not quite what we expected - there are few amenities nearby - the hotel itself was lovely and quiet. The rooms were well appointed with great beds, linens and pillows and we liked the idea of the toilet and a washbasin in a different location from the shower room. The staff, without exception were very helpful and charming and the restaurant is to die for. We ate there every night and were never disappointed. We are gourmet food lovers and this restaurant was one of the best - lovely ambience and organic and sustainable food. The pool area and gardens are also beautifully appointed and the beach is steps away, additonally there is a boardwalk for those who wish to run or walk in the morning. Our only criticism was the extra charge each day for beach towels and internet access even if not used and the inclusion of a service charge on restaurant bills.

Great Location, "Boutique" feeling

The best was the size of hotel, smaller, more intimate environment with excellent restaurant. The worst was the fact that the room had no bathtub. When I asked for an upgraded (and plainly said I would pay whatever) I just wanted a bathtub - they said they are a "green" hotel and did not have bathtubs. I found this a ridiculous answer and would not this hotel to anyone who loves a relaxing bath to top off the day. Either they lied to me, or they really don't have any rooms with tubs! And no hot tub/spa by the pool either! Boo -hiss!

Stayed here over New Years Weekend 2011. Good: Staff, Amenities, Hotel Pool and Outdoor Patio, and Private Beach Access & Location Bad: Very Small Room, Thin Walls, Bed, Sunday Brunch, and Prices of Cocktails & Food Had a great time in South Beach, but probably could of found a better Hotel deal for the cost.

Weekend getaway

The Palms works well as a weekend getaway to Miami Beach. However, we expected free access to the steamroom. We were very disappointed that the steamroom, an average amenity at any spa, cost an extra $20 per person at The Palms. This policy would need to change before we ever return to The Palms.

The Palms was perfect for us!

During our stay we could not say enough good things about the palms! If you are looking for a hotel that is on the beach and a little closer to the action, I would not recommend the palms. The drive/walk isn't that far and it is nice to go to a tranquil place that is just a short distance away. The hotel is calming, beautiful and has an amazing staff. I will definately stay there on my next trip!

safe haven

between two hubs of activity, The Palms provided a peaceful retreat. The staff was very friendly. Rooms are small but attractive. Pool is above average although overheated one day and under the next: again, very friendly response when I asked about it. For a break from taxi travel, the public buses are idea. I had only one meal at the restaurant and did not love it however the ambiance was quite nice. I did not use the spa. Aveda products in the rooms were a nice touch.

Great Location

The hotel has a great location. Service at front desk and in the restaurant could be improved. The staff were not warm and enthusiastic at what they were doing. There was a questionable charge for opening the bar in the room. This hotel did not appeal to us for the price that they charge.
