Nestled on the corner of quaint Espanola Way and Washington Avenue, The Clay Hotel is a jewel among places to stay in the historic Art Deco District of Miami Beach. Twenty- four hours a day, you can step through wood carved French doors into the cool, terra cotta tiled lobby where you'll be greeted by our multi lingual staff at the front desk-the same desk that's been there since 1925. After you've checked in and unpacked your bags, take a stroll down Espanola Way and observe the exotic features that make this one of the most alluring streets in South Beach.

Great location, helpful staff!

The hotel's location is awesome, right in the middle of all the action! Everything is close by! The staff is attentive and helpful and always have a smile on their faces. The downside is that, since the hotel is in the middle of everything it can get a little nosiy at night from all the partying, but hey...That's why one goes to Miami in the first place, right?

Room on a budget

Besides the bathroom door getting in the way from getting out the shower and reception on the tv choppy...all in all a good find. Who needs tv anyway you're at Miami Beach. Perfect for singles who are looking to hit the beach on a budget and location is right where the party is.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

You probably would be spending a lot on the attractions and clubs so best to save on a hotel stay. You wont be in the room much anyway and why should you be.

Good Hotel, Great location

The Clay Hotel is in a great spot in Miami Beach, lots of restaurants, bars and other places to visit within walking distance. Other destinations are a short, though not inexpensive, taxi ride away. The rooms were fairly plain. I had a very small TV in my room, but the bed was comfortable and the room had everything I needed including a fridge and microwave. And there were some rooms with balconies. Lets be honest, if you're spending a lot of time in your room in Miami, you're doing it wrong.

Great location! Small room.

We loved the location, right in Espanola Way! We loved the kitchenette. We were able to cook a nice meal one evening. Staff did not clean room very well. The room was a bit cramped.

Needs major facelift

Didn't have much contact with staff only and check in and check out. Maid service was good the room was kept clean. The overall look of the building is extremely worn and in need of repair and bland. The hallways looked newer than the lobby front desk and stairwells. No elevators and no one to help with luggage. Rooms resembled an oversized closet, it's very small. If your clostrophobic this is not for you. Beds were very small and uncomfortable as well. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone and I will not be returning.

The Clay

Very nice, for the price. The location was excellent. Away from all the noise. A variety of restaurants to choose from. The lobby needed some TLC but otherwise I would definitely come back.

Flop House

The place is a dump. It's old, creaky, dirty, dingy, and just plain horrible. They gave us an upgrade to a suite and the sofa was so old, tattered, and damaged we could barely sit on it. We couldn't even get an extra towel because they were "at the laundry" and wouldn't be back until the next morning. The only positive quality was the location.

Good Location - Poor Hotel

We selected this hotel because it is 2 blocks from the beach and Lincoln Ave, and reviews were not bad. Let me enlighten others. This place is a dump. No rooms on ground level, no elevators, creaky stairs, floors with soft spots you feel like you'll fall thru, and the room had a bed, bath, fridge, microwave, and night stand - no chair, table, dresser, etc. Probably a great place for spring break kids wanting to party, but for a couple of family a must avoid tag should be on this place.

mini vacation

The location of this hotel was great but they was doing some construction work and it was very nosey while I was trying to sleep. And housekeeping didn't even change the sheets. She would just make up the bed and bring fresh towels. The room had a little kitchenette and they werent going to Wash the pots and things until we left.

Great location, walk to everywhere

WE have stayed her 3 times now and find the location great with all the restaurants, bars, convenience store, etc. within 1 block. Cooperative staff, good room service. They are under construction on some room improvements but didn't work at any inconvenient times. Will stay here again when in Miami Beach.

The street is closed to car traffic at night and has at least 9 restaurants on the block which is really special.
