Stylish South Beach hotel with free happy hour and bustling nightlife

When in South Beach, lounge, dine and cocktail like the locals. The nightlife sizzles at the Catalina Hotel and Beach Club, thanks to two rooftop pools, three bars and two restaurants, including the people-watching hub Maxine's. The Catalina celebrates its boutique style with bold design elements such as stark white seating and linens and sumptuous red walls and lamps. Poolside beds reflect South Beach's quintessential luxurious approach to everyday living.

Highlights
  • Two rooftop pools, three bars and two restaurants, including South Beach favorite Maxine's
  • Free shuttle from Miami International Airport

Rooms

Who says white has to be boring? The hue makes a dramatic statement when paired with red walls or damask-print. Floor-to-ceiling curtains lend softness to the rooms, where Tempur-pedic mattresses, 300-count Belgian sheets and goose down comforters are standard amenities. Space isn't an issue. Each room holds enough square footage to accommodate an in-house masseuse.

Features

The hotel hands out VIP passes to the hottest clubs, but the property is a nightlife magnet on its own. Visitors can sample sashimi in Kung-Fu Kitchen & Sushi or mingle with other singles at the rooftop pool. Go ahead: Order a cocktail from the cabana bed.

When it's time to catch a flight home, guests can cut their travel time via the free airport shuttle. An in-house system also enables visitors to modify, buy and confirm their flights from the hotel lobby.

Dining

Maxine Restaurant & Bar
The Maxine Restaurant at The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club is open and serves breakfast all day long! The Challah bread French toast is already known to be the best on South Beach. Located in our North building the restaurant, caf, and bar is a great place to people watch while enjoying cocktails and delicious treats.
Kung Fu Sushi
Kung Fu Sushi is an eclectic mix of sushi and Asian food with a real kick. The menu ranges from Seabass to Japanese Red Snapper Rolls, and you'll definitely want to cleanse the palate with signature sake cocktails like the Tokyo Rose or Japanese Jade. The delicious and affordable fare is served amidst dcor that is just as impressive. Partnering with famed artist Lebo to showcase his work, this sexy mod-Asian bistro will offer a complete experience for your senses. As the choice of unique establishments offered becomes increasingly limited in Miami Beach, travelers can continue to rely on the South Beach Group as the source for lifestyle hotels and restaurants that are always original and interesting.

The Catalina Beach Club

I found the staff at The Catalina to be rude and unhelpful. This was probably the worst hotel that I've ever stayed in. In addition, they're sneaky and cheap; When you check in, they charge your credit card $100 and say that you'll get your "deposit" back at the end of your stay. But, actuuuuaaaaallly, at the end of your stay they spring this $15 per day per person "resort fee" that pays for the "complementary" beach towels and pool. So I actually didn't get may deposit back and owed them $30. I felt pretty disgusted after leaving.

Creepy Catalina

Unacceptable hotel conditions. Have to walk through bar to get to rooms. Night staff is incompetent. Reservation was for 3 people and when we entered room, there was 1 king bed. We were told that was all that available regardless of what was booked. Next day we were switched to room right off the lobby/bar - totally unsafe (no security) and very loud. Will NEVER return to this hotel!!!

Dont do it!!!

My experience at this hotel was quite poor. The room was small and cramped, had bad lighting and was very unclean. The bathroom was also very cramped with a coldish no pressure shower head and housing a family of tiny bugs that seemed to multiply everyday. The roof top pool is small and warm... pictures are very misleading so beware when booking!!!!! No way in hell this is a 4 star hotel as claimed

Great Time

The staff at the Catalina are more than accommodating. Our room was spotless and the beds were so comfortable. Other than some crazy girls that decided to have a party in the hallway, our stay was great. Security came and quieted the girls and we did get to sleep. ( We found out it was spring break ) so my fault. Towels for the beach were provided as well as a beach chair, so we slept on the beach all day. I will be staying a the Catalina again.

The hotel was ok...

The room we were given was small and the lighting was terrible. The room did not have a closet, a dresser or a night stand, just a glass shelf on the wall and a small glass shelf between the beds. Lack of storage space and space in general made it VERY difficult to stay organized, or even walk around the room. The walls were thin and I could hear anyone in the hallway or anyone in the bathroom. At times I could hear our neighbors in the bathroom through the vent! The shower had no curtain, just a half glass wall which allowed the water to drip into the bathroom while you shower. The restaurant was on the expensive side and the food wasn't good. We ordered breakfast and the eggs were runny and the fruit and the juices were warm. However, the hotel beds were very comfortable. The free happy hour and rooftop pool were awesome. The hotel includes towels and 2 free beach chairs per room which was nice. The location was great too, close to Lincoln Rd and lots of shopping and dining options. Overall, the hotel is "ok" and most likely I would not stay there again.

SO much fun!!

I was in South Beach for a business meeting and was lucky enough to stay at the Catalina! What a blast! Hotel was 3 different buildings, each with their own unique vibe. Pools were great, restaurants were great (especially Kung Fu Sushi), you can't beat the free happy hour! I so wish I had the time to stay a few more days after the business was taken care of. Stayed in one of the Maxine rooms that were just recently renovated, and it was a good size and totally spotless! I can't wait to return to this hotel!!!

Great location, pool, and staff

The hotel itself was great. [...]Staff seemed nice and very friendly. I was there for a Bachelorette party and some of the staff made sure it was a special trip. The food at Maxine's was very yummy.
